Come and stay at the top floor at Mermaid Apartments, overlooking tropical gardens with coconut and palm trees. Enjoy the tastefully furnished and appointed 3 bedroom 2 bath unit which has free Wi-Fi and is a 5 minute walk to the famous Crane Beach. We rent the apartment as a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom to increase our rentals. When rented as a 1 or 2 bedroom, the other bedrooms are unavailable. You will have the entire 1.800 sq. ft. top floor of the concrete building to yourself.
The property is fully fenced and has a gate. Situated on a quiet residential road with luxury mansions across the street. Perfect for your Honeymoon, so peaceful and romantic yet great for families or several couples.

MASTER BEDROOM AND BATH HIGHLIGHTS
The spacious 16’ by 14’ master bedroom features a Queen Size bed, dual side wicker tables with drawers and lamps. This corner bedroom features a wicker dressing table and a full length mirror and a ceiling fan. All beds (master and guest) are outfitted with sheets and bedspreads. Enjoy the views of the garden and Atlantic Ocean, as well as the wonderful breezes from three windows. The three floor-to-ceiling closets give you ample room for your clothes and feature slat doors. The floors are tiled and have throw rugs.
The master bath features a large glass block shower and a vanity with lots of cupboard space underneath. You’ll love the cross breezes provided by windows on either side. The large mirror will make getting ready that much easier. The floors are tiled. Same features on second bathroom.

GUEST BEDROOMS HIGHLIGHTS
The two 12’ by 14' guest bedrooms feature Queen Size beds with dual side wicker tables with drawers and 2 lamps. They each have three floor-to-ceiling closets with slat doors. Both bedrooms have two windows with great ocean views and overlook the lush gardens. A dressing table and full length mirror assist you in getting ready quicker. Both are equipped with ceiling fans, tiled floors and throw rugs.
Our Chef’s Kitchen is Domus from Italy and features stainless steel appliances which include a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer equipped with filtered water and ice, dishwasher, gas stove, microwave and stacked washer/dryer. Smart granite countertops and tiled floors. Fully equipped with everything you’ll need to cook up a storm! The kitchen provides one of the two entrances to the apartment.

LIVING ROOM HIGHLIGHTS
The living room offers a lovely sofa which makes watching a DVD on the 26” TV great entertainment. You can also listen to the radio or play CDs. The furnishings are a flashback to the old days of Barbados Plantocracy, featuring mahogany end tables with 2 lamps and a coffee table. Admire the ocean views and lush gardens whilst sitting in your lovely wicker chair.
DINING ROOM HIGHLIGTS
Enjoy dinner with your guests at the round mahogany table which sits six. Ceiling fans compliment the living and dining rooms, along with lovely parquet floors and throw rugs. Set the mood with some candles.
At the front of the apartment and facing south is your den which features a desk in one corner, equipped with free Wi-Fi. Better still, relax in the armchair and read a book. We didn’t forget the side table to rest your cocktail on! Tiled floors and throw rugs complete the reading room which enjoys windows on both sides.
No doubt this is where you’ll spend most of your time. The chairs on the covered 180 sq. ft. patio will beckon you to sip a cocktail whilst watching and listening to the magnificent ocean and keeping cool from ocean breezes. You will probably enjoy eating out here and lounging on the comfortable chaise lounge which has a cushion and adjustable back.
ROOF TOP HIGHLIGHTS
Last but not least, should you wish to laze at home and sunbathe, you can visit the roof deck which has by far the best view in the house and is a great place to snap a few pictures to take home with you. See Africa from the roof deck! So quiet and relaxing.
Mermaid Apartments is situated on half an acre and features beautiful lush tropical gardens, a bay leaf tree, lime tree, coconut trees and many varieties of tropical palms. We have many hibiscus plants, croutons, silver dollars – to name just a few. We invite you to take a walk around the garden and enjoy it. Sample a coconut from our tree.
Located steps to the world famous Crane Beach, a 10 minute drive to Grantley Adams International Airport and a half hour drive to the capital, Bridgetown, Mermaid Apartments is close to all amenities but offers peace and quiet. Six Roads Supermarket is 5 minutes away. Barbados' oldest hotel, The Crane Hotel, and Cutters are among your neighbourhood restaurants. Try the local Oistins Fish Fry on Fridays or shop for fruits and vegetables at many nearby vendors. The ice cream van comes by at night! Many sports are available for you in Barbados.

Our family, the Chandlers, were some of the first settlers in Barbados, arriving in 1637. This property came to us from out mother's side of the family. Our great-grandfather, Sir Herbert Greaves, purchased the land and it has passed down to us via his daughter and granddaughter who was our mother. We are the fourth generation to own this property.
We just love the peace and tranquility of Mermaid Apartments. Being away from the noise and bustle makes this the perfect place to relax and unwind. Sitting on the patio reading a book and all you hear is the ocean, the birds and the wonderful Atlantic breezes. At night you will be serenaded by the local 'Whistling Frogs'. Being on the top floor of a concrete building enhances the quiet. Mermaid boasts beautiful gardens. There are windows on four sides. The views of the Atlantic Ocean are breathtaking, you can see forever. Barbados is a fun and safe island, only 21 miles long and 14 miles wide.
If you are looking for spacious and comfortable accommodations in a quiet and scenic neighbourhood this is the place for you. We have just returned from a two week stay at this property and enjoyed it very much. It is well equipped and its proximity to the Crane resort is a plus for us for dining on occasion as well as swimming at the beach. We walked or ran in the friendly neighbourhood every day meeting nice folks along the way who shared many things of local interest. The bus stop is on the corner for trips further afield and car rental is available too should you want to tour the island. What a pleasure to be picked up on arrival at the airport and transported to Mermaid apartment where all our groceries were already in the cupboard and the fridge ! The highlight of our stay was two Bajan dinners prepared especially for us by Shelley our housekeeper ! She is a pro! A big thank you to the Mermaid Team who made this all possible.
I travelled to Barbados this January/2016 and had a great experience. Loved the mermaid apartment. Although we did not eat in often, it had everything needed to do so. The only thing missing was a BBQ :)
I would definitely stay here again and recommend staying here.
We had a wonderful stay at Mermaid Apartments at the end of 2015. The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed for our week long stay including a laundry machine, all kitchen appliances (dishwasher, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, fridge with ice maker), satellite TV with plenty of channels, wifi internet, phone service, two floor fans, etc. The phone service (see tips below) and internet was reliable and fast enough for normal activity. The location is a two minute drive from Crane Beach, which was our favorite beach on the island. Also, Ginger bay was just a short walk away and was almost always secluded, though we did not venture far into the water there due to the currents. A car is definitely needed in order to explore the island. Bridgetown and Holetown on the West end of the island are about 30-35 minutes away by car and St Lawrence Gap was about 20-25 minutes away.
Maggie, the owner, was very helpful and answered all of our questions promptly and in detail. Shelley the housekeeper, was at the apartment when we arrived and showed us around. Lynn, the apartment manager, stopped by to check up on us and gave us many tips on places to visit and eat. She was extremely friendly and helpful and delight to speak with.
The only issue we had was the bedrooms got quite hot at night when the windows were down, which we had to do for three nights due to intermittent heavy rains. The winds would make the rain blow into the apartment if the east side windows are kept open.
A few tips:
- When making local calls on the house phone, be sure not to enter the 246 area code. If you do include this area code, or an international area code, the phone service will disconnect for a few minutes. Also, it seems the internet connection cuts out for a brief moment when phone calls are made.
- The apartment has a cooler that can be used. It does not have portable beach chairs/umbrella (these can be rented at the more popular beaches for 15-20 USD per pair)
- Make reservations at restaurants ahead of time (especially on weekends and holidays) - Many restaurants had very long (60-90 min) wait times for walk-ins, despite having many tables open (they may have fixed seating times).
- If renting a car, rent a gps or bring one and load BajanNav maps onto it. This made driving and navigation significantly easier.
Overall, we had an excellent stay at Mermaid apartments and would highly recommend it.
We had a fantastic two weeks at this beautifully furnished and very spacious apartment. The residential street where it is located is very quiet and the beach is very close by. There is no night life but a couple of restaurants are within walking distance as is the Crane Resort. Everything is supplied including dishwasher and laundry detergent (no food) and the kitchen has all the cooking utensils you could want. A car is not necessary unless you want to go sightseeing, but even then you could take a taxi and have the driver do a tour for you.
Spent a week in the Mermaid Apt with my wife and three children. Ages 8,13, 16. Wonderful experience, everything stated by previous reviewers is correct. A beautiful beach is a short walk away, and is very private. Saw one other local couple enjoying it while we we were there. If you plan on sightseeing, rent a car as most of the attractions are about 20 -30 minutes away, closer to the Caribbean side of the island. Also, most of the restaurants are away from this side of the island, so if you don't plan on doing some of you own cooking, a automobile is desirable. The bus stop to town is just 2 minute walk around the corner.
Overall this is the perfect place, and the perfect location if you want to have access to it all. Peace and tranquility, reasonable access to attractions, close to airport, safe, great beach, and a wonderful sea breeze that beats any air conditioned hotel room!
Everything was exactly as described on the website. What must be also mentioned is how homey and cosy this lovely apartment was, and so quiet and peaceful after our ten days at Hastings! The property is very clean and everything show attention to detail, the furnishings are very lovely and we really enjoyed every facet of the property....we had evening glasses of wine on the upper deck and watched the beautiful colors of the sky and setting sun, we enjoyed our breakfast and lunch in the covered patio with the comfy chairs, we had romantic dinners by candlelight at the glass topped table, and enjoyed preparing our own meals in the well equipped Italian kitchen! The internet service was great, and we also reclined after dark, watching a movie on the leather sofa. The bed was very comfortable, and the entire layout is very spacious.
Maggie was tremendously helpful and responded quickly and often to my emails with various questions. I would definitely recommend this to a friend, as long as it was still available for us to rent!
We enjoyed walking every morning, we took many different routes, but found our favorite walking adventure was to the ruins at Sam Lord's Castle, the Shark Hole, and also walking along the cliffs with the amazing views of the ocean.
We also loved just relaxing and enjoying the view of the gardens, the sound of the sea, going to nearby Ginger Bay and exploring the 'bat cave' there. We ate at Cutter's - they have terrific 'cutters' (flying fish sandwiches) and they will also deliver right to Crane beach, they come by every noon hour to see if you want to order anything. We did, and it was very convenient. We also enjoyed the rum punch at the Crane, be sure to check out their happy hour from 530 - 630 every evening (except Monday), the pina coladas were tasty as well.
We cooked our own meals, so didn't try any other restaurants.
We absolutely loved our stay and have already planned to return again next year!

Our apartment has three bedrooms and we rent it as a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom unit to increase our rentals. Regardless of how many bedrooms you rent you will have the entire 1,800 sq. ft. top floor to yourself.
Rates are as follows:
• 1-bedroom - $119 per night
• 2-bedroom - $149 per night
• 3-bedroom - $199 per night
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your reservation. The balance is due 60 days prior to arrival. We accept credit cards, bank drafts and EFT.
