Our home is available as a winter seasonal rental from November, 2018, to April, 2019, for $14,000, plus utilities, plowing, cleaning and security deposit of $1,500.

We have installed a new 42 inch HD flat screen, wall mounted tv in the family room.

Comfortable seating in the living room adjoins the spacious custom kitchen with granite counter tops and maple cabinets. A Hearthstone stove in the living room will keep you warm and cozy in the evenings. A pot filler over the stove makes for easy meal preparation. A complete selection of new kitchen appliances and utensils makes preparing and serving meals a pleasure. The kitchen connects to a spacious dining room through an antique dutch door. The master suite, located on the first floor, has a spacious bath with a shower for two & even has a special window overlooking the river! Watch the river as you soak in the two-person whirlpool. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, each with its own unique en suite bath.

Cook up a great BBQ on our new gas grill available on the deck overlooking the river.

Our home is located on a quiet country road off Route 100, which 'has been called the most scenic in New England' by Yankee magazine writer Michael Blanding. 'In some circles, it's known as the 'Skier's Highway,' since it connects Vermont's giants - Mount Snow, Killington, Sugarbush, and Stowe - like knots on a whip.' Let's not forget Stratton, which is only 15 minutes from our door!

Now is the time to enjoy the best of the seasons in Vermont from this special house so close to everything you love about Vermont.

Snowshoe or cross country ski right from the home along the peaceful West River Trail. Ski or snowboard at Stratton, Bromley or Magic, which are all within 15 minutes of our door.

Enjoy the best of southern Vermont at this house that has so much to offer. For shoppers, visit the designer outlets so conveniently in Manchester (20 minutes west) and find your groceries locally on the mountain at a great little supermarket that has more than you can imagine! Spring through summer and fall, splash in the river at the rear of the house. Try biking or hiking right from the home along the peaceful West River Trail that meanders along the river and through the woods all the way to Brattleboro if you wish to go that far! Visit the newly renovated South Londonderry train station, the new home of the Friends of the West River Trail. Walk to The Pantry, a village store, just a short walk into the tiny town of South Londonderry, for morning coffee and homemade pastries. Indulge in a massage or enjoy one of many fine restaurants nearby. Enjoy swimming at lovely lakes within 30 minutes of the home. Kayak or canoe or fish the many rivers. Enjoy fireworks and parades on July 4 at many local small towns. Church suppers and antique and craft shows can be found nearby.

Our central location between Stratton and Bromley makes it so easy to enjoy all the warm weather family activities and entertainment at these resorts. Golf, tennis, hiking, concerts and numerous activities can be enjoyed at Stratton and Bromley has its alpine slide, unique zipline, mini golf, water slide, entertainment and so much more! Enjoy the new TimberQuest at Magic!

Weston is just a short drive with it's Vermont Country Store, summer theater at the Weston Playhouse, and charming shops. Manchester, a shopper's paradise, is only 20 minutes away. Hildene, the Lincoln family home, is worth a visit to see the magnificent restored home and enjoy their hiking trails. The village of Ludlow and Okemo Mountain are 30 minutes away.

If you are a fisherman or woman, just ask us where the special places are where you can catch 16-22" trout, which is what we caught in the summer 2017. Fishing season opens in 2018 on April 14. Enjoy Free Fishing Day in Vermont on Saturday, June 9, no license required only on this date! Licenses for the rest of the season may be purchased online through the Vermont Fish and Wildlife website or at local stores.

The Orvis School of Flyfishing is in Manchester as is their flagship store. The Battenkill River is famous for fishing and is also great for canoeing with access points just south of Manchester.

If you love tubing and floating in its special swimming holes, there are entry points all along the West River from Jamaica to Newfane and beyond. We can direct you to those places.

If you're fond of horseback riding, a great stable is only 10 minutes from our home.

How about something unique? The Land Rover Driving School is located at the Equinox Hotel in Manchester. With an instructor at your side, take control of the wheel in challenging off-road situations.

Don't miss the Strolling of the Heifers held the first weekend in June, down Main Street in Brattleboro. This parade features up to 100 heifer calves, bedecked in flowers and led by future farmers, followed by cows, bulls, horses, goats, poultry, floats, tractors, bands, clowns, and much, much more!

In summer, there are three spectacular meteor showers that can be viewed from our lawn, which surrounds our home: July 28-29 The Delta Aquarids - predawn, about 20 bright-yellow meteors occur per hour. Look for meteors to fan out east, north and west. July 29-30 The Capricornids - known for producing brilliant fireballs. It's best to observe right after sunset. If you can see the Milky Way, you'll probably be able to see this shower. August 12-13 The Perseids - look toward the constellation Perseus (about halfway above the horizon in the northeast quadrant of the sky) in the late evening. Recline with your feet facing south and look straight up. The Perseids should appear over your left could see 60 meteors in an hour.

The Bondville Fair, at the end of August, features agricultural displays and contests, quilt show and contest, crafts, rides and games, music, bingo, truck, ox and horse pulling, antique tractors, clog and line dancing.

The 34th Annual Peru Fair, held in late September, is rated by the state's Chamber of Commerce as a Vermont's Top 10 event. The homespun Peru Fair steps off with a 9:45 a.m. parade, followed by a pig roast, live music, dancing, hay rides and other entertainment. Dozens of local artisans and food vendors. Parking available at nearly Bromley Mountain, with shuttle buses provided to and from the village.

Effective in 2008, all Vermont rental properties are supposed be state certified to be in compliance with all fire safety regulations. Our home is fully certified; a certificate is posted in the home. Please be aware that although our home is in full compliance and certified, most homes are not...

About Linda or Henry Kabis

We love Vermont in all seasons. We're an active family and have been volunteer puppy raisers for The Seeing Eye for 21 years. We're currently raising our 29th puppy for this philanthropy. Shannon, the golden retriever puppy shown among the photos of our home, is now a retired guide dog living in North Carolina.

Why Linda or Henry Kabis chose Londonderry

We had this home custom built for us in 2003 by a master craftsman from Vermont.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time and truly hated to leave. The house is beautiful and bright and we found it impeccably clean. The house is very well equipped - you thought of everything to make guests feel at home.

We live in an older house with less open-space so we loved the spacious kitchen/living room and enjoyed cooking together without bumping into one another! Our boys share a bathroom at home and LOVED having a "suite" all to themselves (they're identical twins, so they've had to share a lot! ) And the master bedroom/bathroom is exceptional. In all, it's a great house and we loved everything about it.

We hiked on the trail at the end of your road, walked to The Pantry, enjoyed watching the chickens, horses, and Shetland pony across the street. We hiked Bromley, rode bikes, and splashed a bit in the river. We loved hearing the sound of the river from every room .

Thank you for the pancake mix and local maple syrup - they were delicious. And, what a surprise to find the pink neckerchief for Snickers! She's a sweet but rather funny, happy- go-lucky dog and we all had a great laugh seeing her wear something pink and girly! Thank you for thinking of her.

Thanks for everything - I hope we'll return someday.

We stay in June/July 2013. Late review due to cancer diagnosis when we returned home. Now back on track and had to write. What a great find. Spacious, open feel. Bathrooms and Bedrooms made me want to stay forever. Nice layout. Felt like home. Cafe, grocery store, restaurants nearby. Will be returning.
