One bedroom apartment right on the beach.
About George Hageman
As I was riding down the beach to Sebastian State Park many years ago this exceptional property jumped out at me and I wondered who lived there. As fate would have it I met the owner who later became my wife. When we took early retirements from our professional jobs 15 years ago, we joyfully decided to become inn keepers by sharing our little piece of paradise with others.
Why George Hageman chose Beach Woods
By the way, Beach Woods is where Google mistakenly puts the property. Our address is Melbourne Beach so please don't let this confuse you. The house was designed and built by my wife in 1978 and was completely refurbished inside and out in 2008. She explored many beach communities in Florida prior to moving here and chose Melbourne Beach because of the county's ecological sensitivity, including conservation and building height restrictions. We truly love this place! Its isolation, beauty, and distinctive offering of the finest sand beach with no hidden coral under the water to worry about is wonderful. The fishing is great as is the surf break and swimming. Just spending time in a beach chair next to the ocean provides hours of relaxed joy for us. Although VRBO locates us at the subdivision of Beach Woods, they are mistaken. Melbourne Beach House is not located in any subdivision or community. We are a unique stand-alone property situated within a nature preserve.
What makes this Apartment unique
We remodeled the house to further reflect our relaxed, informal, peaceful lifestyle. Although we created 4 lovely apartments we directed more of our resources to the two executives, one in which we chose to live. Attention to detail with marble floors, wood burning fireplaces, granite and tile kitchens and bathrooms, custom oak and pine crown molding and baseboards, and tongue and groove oak and cedar accented walls was our focus. Most of all the walls of sliding glass doors that allowed a spectacular view of the ocean, sunrises, moon rises, lightning storms, and rainbows were very important to us. Outside we created intimate conversion areas with stone and porcelain patios, wood decks, and bench swings among lush flowers and native foliage. We acknowledge that an additional wonderful amenity about our location here is that we can ride our bicycles less than 1 mile to the supermarket or we can peddle 3 miles to the quaint seaside town of Melbourne Beach. We believe we have it all!

Melbourne Beach House
Stayed at the upstairs Ibis apt in Jan. 2020. Ocean View is great, beach is 25 feet away over the dune, apt is clean with lots of space for 2, nice kitchen, there is a nice reading or backgammon alcove off the bedroom, only 3 other families in the building, beach is almost private in winter due to location. We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.
Return to Paradise
We love staying in Ibis. It was our second visit. Secluded beach but close to things we wanted to do. Dee is delightful and always available. Would recommend to friends!
Great Location and room
The property is located in an area quiet enough to enjoy privacy and an uncrowded beach, but also near lots of activities, great food, and necessities. A Publix minutes away is convenient. Cocoa Beach pier a little north of the beach house. We also took a trip to Kennedy Space Center and went Horse Back Riding. Watched the Sunrise over the beach, and saw Sunset over the river just down the street. Property manager was very nice and left us a hand-written card welcoming us and giving us tips for the area. It was a great stay, would definitely go back. There was so much we discovered in the area, we just couldn't get it all in.
We had a great time, the accommodations were as advertised. Views outstanding. Beautiful upscale neighborhood. We plan to come again
Great place and location
A nice relaxing place to stay on the beach. Well equipped property.
The location is the star here. The second floor apartment has great views of the ocean and sunrise from the deck, just a few feet away from the beach. The swing just behind the dunes also has great views and is still secluded. The beach, being natural, is narrow but still has lots of room for walking or sitting as long as the tide isn't high. At high tide it's still walkable, though you'll probably get wet. There were always a few people walking by, but not many - it's a very quiet stretch. The WiFi was still accessible on the beach.
It's easy to access from the highway, although hard to see until you're right on top of it. There's a walking/biking path on the west side of the highway that stretches farther than I could run to the south, mostly past natural areas after the first mile. The Publix grocery store about a mile south met all of our needs.
The inside of the apartment is just what we expected from the pictures. It's clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all the appliances and hardware we needed to make all of our meals. The bed and bathroom likewise were simple but met our needs. We were able to fall asleep to the ocean sounds through the window above the bed, and there was no traffic noise audible. WiFi was strong and fast enough for several devices and streaming a movie at night. The TV is a bit far from the couch, but I don't see any better possible layouts.
Overall it was fantastic for us. The location, including the deck right above the dune, is the reason to stay here.
We invite you to spend time with us -- Relax on your patio and be enchanted watching an abundance of sea birds overhead or feeding them on the beach. Walk the beach in search of unique shells and sea glass. Swim or splash in the water of our pristine subtropical turquoise ocean. Board surf, kite surf, or paddle board the best breakwater in the area. Surf-fish for dinner from the shore. Watch sea turtles lay their eggs at night. Bicycle past villages that follow the sea for miles. Play golf or tennis, canoe, kayak, sail, or power boat just a few minutes away. Visit Kennedy Space Center, Port Canaveral, Disney, and the Orlando attractions a little over an hour away. We are in the perfect location to visit most of Florida within a day.
