We stayed 3 nights at this stunning property. The communication was flawless and Dominique was lovely! The villa is well equipped and just top notch! From the amazing linen sheets to wonderful decor, nothing was missed! The kitchen was well stocked with coffee, teas, oils, pots and pans. There was beautiful dishes and wine glasses too. Great indoor and outdoor space. The very small town was very quiet but friendly. A bread truck honks its horn at 930am for fresh baked goods. Close to Uzes and Avignon! I would go back in a heartbeat! My only regret is that we had to leave so soon!
Wonderfully relaxing and memorable
Our stay here was absolutely wonderful. The house is a delight. We particularly loved the garden. It was a lovely place to just relax and read a book. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking dinners at home. And as others have noted, it was a delight to meet the bread truck in the morning for a fresh baguette. We also loved the Wednesday night pizza truck. A very memorable stay.
Thank you Dominique and Rainey for hosting us. Your warm welcome and advice was very much appreciated.
Warm, inviting, pleasurable experience.
House with a Soul & Magic
My husband and I love to travel, and we some times crave a different kind of luxury than a 5-start hotel. This year we decided to visit La Capelle et Masmolene. Have you ever watched a movie and thought to yourself “could this place be real”? If you ever wondered about a romance of a small village in the heart of France where life slows down in a storybook setting, La Maison du Sud is where you should go. I can still feel the breeze in the small terrace off the kitchen, French music playing in the background as I am cutting the fresh baguette delivered by the local bakery every morning. Yes, the bakery leaves the bread in a bag behind your door. From the antique island in the kitchen, the copper pots hanging on the wall, the bench under it with the Provencal basket sitting on top, to the unique master suite, it screamed romance, elegance, and history. Writing a simple review wouldn’t do justice to this magical house, the village, so I need to tell you about the feel of this place. Yes, it is clean, yes, it is comfortable, yes it has WIFI and all the conveniences we all need and are uses to, but it has something much more, it has a heart. When you walk through the house you feel the love and attention that gives the house its soul. Every room tells a story, every time I would go back to reality the house would pull me back to a simpler and more beautiful time. This time I wasn’t watching the movie, I was in it. The master suite took my breath away every time I walked in: the headboard, the open shower in the middle of the room, the sink carved out of a peace of rock, every piece of furniture so unexpected and yet it fit the purpose perfectly. All the modern conveniences are there but they are so smartly hidden as to not disturb the peace. Each room is designed differently than the next and yet there is harmony you can touch. The white hydrangeas of the provincial garden smile at you every morning. From the windows in the master bedroom you see the rooftops of the village that blends in with the vineyard in the background. The view on the left pulls you to pages of a storybook; church bells, the small square of the village and the beautiful castle backdrop let you sink deep in your own little fairytale.Every part of the house pays homage to the love the owner has felt for her house. You just want to be a part of it and buy into the love. Do I think you should stay at La Maison du Sud? If you want an authentic experience with a dust of magic, ABSOLUTELY YES
Thank you Paris, we were really glad to meet you and welcome you in our village! Come back when you want!
Amazing house in La Capelle
This house and village was a dream come true! We stayed for a week of our honeymoon and it couldn't be faulted. The house is so thoughtfully and beautifully decorated, but easy to live in. A short drive to Uzes, to visit the weekend market, and then cook up all the amazing produce while drinking Rose! For breakfast- wait until you hear the "toot" of the bakery van, with beautiful crossaints and baguettes. Below the balcony listen to the locals chat away, and eventually you'll find yourself peeking out the window the see what "new comers" have arrived in town. The manager Dominique was really friendly, and very easy to contact. If you need to pause, and reevaluate what the best bits of life are- rent this house- you won't regret it!
