Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms - 3 Bathrooms - Terraces - Courtyard and a Plunge Pool - 6 people

Located in a lovely old village near Avignon, this home is composed of two 100+ year old stone houses. The thoughtful renovation has taken advantage of the provençal style and idiosyncrasies of the original structures, while adding all the modern necessities needed for enjoying a comfortable stay.

There are 3 stories with 2 large bedrooms plus a spacious loft/master suite, thus the house is suitable for 3 couples/singles or a family. All 3 rooms have separate ensuite bathrooms.

There is plenty of room for lounging and relaxing inside in the 2 living rooms or large dining room. The downstairs living room is very pleasant in the summer as it keeps cool in the warmer months. This is also where the television is set up.

Outside, one can eat or read on the balcony or by the plunge pool in the charming garden. The garden is beautifully landscaped with flowers and plants that are native to the South of France. There is a small balcony in the front of the house, where you can enjoy a glass of wine while watching the slow village life.

Anyone who appreciates real style will be enchanted by the beauty of this home. Every room has been carefully decorated with a mixture of provençal, rustic chic and modern furnishings and accessories. The result is a magical place to spend your vacation!

Absolutely no pets or smoking inside.

Cleaning fee 165€ due on arrival.

Included: Sheets, bath and pool towels, kitchen towels.

House with a Soul & Magic

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I love to travel, and we some times crave a different kind of luxury than a 5-start hotel. This year we decided to visit La Capelle et Masmolene. Have you ever watched a movie and thought to yourself “could this place be real”? If you ever wondered about a romance of a small village in the heart of France where life slows down in a storybook setting, La Maison du Sud is where you should go. I can still feel the breeze in the small terrace off the kitchen, French music playing in the background as I am cutting the fresh baguette delivered by the local bakery every morning. Yes, the bakery leaves the bread in a bag behind your door. From the antique island in the kitchen, the copper pots hanging on the wall, the bench under it with the Provencal basket sitting on top, to the unique master suite, it screamed romance, elegance, and history. Writing a simple review wouldn’t do justice to this magical house, the village, so I need to tell you about the feel of this place. Yes, it is clean, yes, it is comfortable, yes it has WIFI and all the conveniences we all need and are uses to, but it has something much more, it has a heart. When you walk through the house you feel the love and attention that gives the house its soul. Every room tells a story, every time I would go back to reality the house would pull me back to a simpler and more beautiful time. This time I wasn’t watching the movie, I was in it. The master suite took my breath away every time I walked in: the headboard, the open shower in the middle of the room, the sink carved out of a peace of rock, every piece of furniture so unexpected and yet it fit the purpose perfectly. All the modern conveniences are there but they are so smartly hidden as to not disturb the peace. Each room is designed differently than the next and yet there is harmony you can touch. The white hydrangeas of the provincial garden smile at you every morning. From the windows in the master bedroom you see the rooftops of the village that blends in with the vineyard in the background. The view on the left pulls you to pages of a storybook; church bells, the small square of the village and the beautiful castle backdrop let you sink deep in your own little fairytale.Every part of the house pays homage to the love the owner has felt for her house. You just want to be a part of it and buy into the love. Do I think you should stay at La Maison du Sud? If you want an authentic experience with a dust of magic, ABSOLUTELY YES

Amazing house in La Capelle

  • 5 of 5

This house and village was a dream come true! We stayed for a week of our honeymoon and it couldn't be faulted. The house is so thoughtfully and beautifully decorated, but easy to live in. A short drive to Uzes, to visit the weekend market, and then cook up all the amazing produce while drinking Rose! For breakfast- wait until you hear the "toot" of the bakery van, with beautiful crossaints and baguettes. Below the balcony listen to the locals chat away, and eventually you'll find yourself peeking out the window the see what "new comers" have arrived in town. The manager Dominique was really friendly, and very easy to contact. If you need to pause, and reevaluate what the best bits of life are- rent this house- you won't regret it!

Exquisite property. Immaculately maintained, every detail thoughtfully imagined.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at Ad Austrum. It is rare to find a property of this standard, distinctive in decor, and full of designer details, quality linens and antiques that represent the character of the area. The surroundings are lovely too, with some beautiful and historic places to explore close-by. Our only complaint. Our time wasn't long enough! Dominique and Christophe are the most wonderful property managers, nothing was too much trouble and they went the extra mile to make us feel at home. We came home restored and full of happy memories. Thank you!!
