About Dawn Clive
It is said...."There's something lyrical about cottages" "Cottages ring true to the image of America's favorite homes - one of a kind designs...in tune with nature". "Cottages are...intuitive, woven into the fabric of every cultures folk tales,...represent the universal home and are best defined by look and feel rather than architectural rules." M. Caren Connolly and Louis Wasserman define a cottage as "intimate, bucolic, and quintessentialy expressive of the owner's imagination." Well, this cottage was imagined and expressed through the love of two people in 1924 and the owners have certainly inspired families who've lived here and their imagination over the last 94 years. It's hard to believe that when my parents first set eyes on this wonderful home and met the owners who held the key to their future in 1974, there then two year old daughter would some day come back to own and care for this special place herself. As it's Centennial year approaches may this home continue to serve the love that inspired it. I'm happy to share and offer this special place to you and your family, what ever you'd like to call it, home, cottage by the sea, beach bungalow, retreat, escape, getaway, sanctuary, respite, holiday home, gathering spot....the list is long and they all fit! I'm just happy to welcome you and happy this home continues to inspire young and old alike...so, please come and enjoy. I look forward to meeting you.

We had an amazing time. The house is a very well kept, older property with lots of character. The plantings were beautiful, the fence around the entire property was perfect for our little dogs that joined us. I would certainly recommend this place and we intended on renting again next year.
A Healing House
What a beautiful beach experience for our entire family! From the moment we stepped onto the property, we could feel the positive energy. This "home away from home" is welcoming and comforting, and the nature preserve that surrounds it is unparalleled. There are flowers galore and stately trees that have been around even longer than this century-old home, which somehow manages to honor its history while providing every possible modern convenience a vacationing family needs. We were impressed by the raised-bed gardens, the huge wisteria-shaded deck, the berry bushes that invite you to gather a handful of sun-ripened sweetness, and the friendly chickens that manage to help the most frazzled family members unwind. Plus, it's only steps from the beach - a five minute walk, even for a dawdler.
Dawn Clive is a lovely hostess and was friendly and informative from the moment we arrived, yet we had our privacy, as well. The kitchen is well-equipped and it was delightful to cook on the Chambers stove: yes, it is also perfect for baking!
The home is clean and the beds are comfortable - every single person slept like a baby due to the combination of fresh air and cozy surroundings. Have teenagers? The WiFi connection is solid and perfect for streaming video as well as gaming.
This is a stellar property and an exquisite experience - we will definitely be vacationing here again!
Dawn’s house was just right for our family. Spacious and well kept. Dawn was a gracious host and we greatly enjoyed our stay.
Our Happy Place!
We had an excellent time staying at Dawns home in Manomet. We are very familiar with the area and Dawns home gave us a place to gather after the beach and make long lasting memories. The charm of her home takes you back to what life was like before everyone became attached to electronics. We gathered every day after the beach on the deck and then moved to the dining room for dinner and games . I would highly recommend a stay here!
We had a wonderful time in Plymouth. Eleven of us all together with 2 dogs. The house is a classic! Plenty of room for everyone! The beach is absolutely gorgeous!! Very peaceful and private and so close! We even enjoyed a couple of camp fires right on the beach! The neighborhood is very friendly and great to walk the dogs in. Dawn is a lovely person. Very passionate about the house and it’s history. Everyone loved having the chickens roaming about and giving them treats. The location of the house is perfect! There were short trips to Boston, Falmouth and Martha Vineyards. I would definitely recommend this house and hope to return some day myself!
Very Special Property
We stayed at Dawn's cottage for our summer vacation for a week in late July, and are glad that we did. The place itself is incredibly charming- cute, historic, and nicely decorated, with beautiful grounds and a great deck. Although the rooms are cozy, it's actually quite spacious, and was large enough to not feel crowded with our group of 13 people. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything needed to cook for a large group for a vacation home. We had a lot of humid heat during our stay, and the place did get quite warm, but, other than that, it was perfect. The beach is very close-by. It's accessed by a very long set of stairs, and is beautiful and private. It was never crowded during our stay.
Dawn was a great hostess. In addition to checking in with us to making sure we had everything we needed, loaning us beaters to make a birthday cake, and giving us tips on good fishing spots, she was fun to talk to and had good, positive energy.
If you are a person that appreciates taste and charm in a unique, relaxing setting, I think you would be very happy coming here.
Ya know, when you open your home to strangers, their friends and families, you really hope they'll first love it...the house, the beach, the neighbors and area. Then second, you pray they'll take good care of it all while they are here and respect, honor the love in which invited them to share it in the first place.
The family that left this review has traveled all over the globe and should be welcomed with open arms at every door that opens for them. They were an absolute treat to have around all be it a very hot and all too short (in my opinion) week here.
I would welcome them back always and wish them all continued health, happiness and safe travels ;)
