Very well located, well equipped property but a little pricey.
We stayed five nights in the apartment in May of 2017. This apartment is extremely well located in a quiet residential quarter of Annecy. It is a five minute walk (less than half a km) to the lake and 15-20 minutes walk to the old town, which is an advantage as the lakefront can get very busy during high season. It is modern, fairly new, and fully equipped with everything for whatever level of cooking you might want to undertake, and there is a small supermarket literally across the street. Having said that, there is a very pleasant bar/café a block away, and in the next block are a primeur (selling beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables), a bakery, a wine shop and a traiteur (selling excellent take-out prepared lunches and dinners). Across the street from that row of stores is a butcher shop and a presse, with a decent selection of foreign newspapers. The apartment has a comfortable living room and a very pleasant deck. The building has excellent security, is very clean and well maintained, and a gated onsite parking stall comes with the rental.
Two minor quibbles about the apartment. There wasn't a proper expresso machine - just a pod coffee maker with only decaf pods. Not a major problem as the café crème at the bar/café was excellent. The layout of the apartment is slightly awkward as the toilet is in a separate room from the shower/sink - not uncommon in France - but the result is that in the middle of the night one needs to navigate three largish doors opening into the small hallway. Again, not a big issue.
The owner was very pleasant and accommodating - we needed to add another day and that was done easily and quickly - and her daughter, who lives in the same building, speaks English and was available if needed, though everything was fine for us and we didn't need to call her. The apartment is a bit pricier than some apparently similar units listed in Annecy but we found it extremely pleasant and would certainly recommend it. It's very easy to feel like a local after a few days of getting your bearings.
One suggestion if you go - we rented bikes and rode, on separate days, down the west and east sides of the lake. The bike trail on the west is mostly flat and you could probably go 60-80 km if you wanted to (we turned back after about 28km). The east side of the lake is more challenging, with some hills that will get your heart pumping, so turn off at Talloires for a delicious lunch and a great view of the lake.
Impeccable, proche de tout, très bon accueil !
Et en plus, des petites touches d’attention à l’arrivée !
