Laburnum Cottage is situated in the courtyard to the rear of Devonshire House Bed & Breakfast. With its own patio, seating area for 4, small pond and waterfall. The cottage has a quaint yet charming atmosphere, providing a welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of the World Heritage City of Bath. The cottage itself is entered through a stable door directly into a fully fitted kitchen with dining area for 4. A short hall leads to the open plan lounge with sofa bed (small double), TV, dvd and CD player. A shower room is situated off the hall. A romantic double bedroom is reached via a spiral staircase, with the roof windows creating a light and airy space, a WC and wardrobe are on this mezzanine level, which has a sloped ceiling, low on each side. Free parking is on street or secure parking is available within the courtyard.

The City of Bath: Bath has a wealth of interesting historic sites, along with superb shopping, beautiful parks and amazing architecture.

Around and about: The picturesque villages of Lacock and Castle Combe are about 30 minutes from Bath. Bradford on Avon, Glastonbury, Wells and the Cotswolds surround Bath. Wales is a 30 minute drive away.

Why Louise and Chris Fry chose England

We love living in the city of Bath, it has everything you could wish for from a city, theatre, great shops, restaurants and an amazing history along with fantastic architecture. Yet, only a 5 minute drive to outstanding countryside.

What makes this cottage unique

Free and secure parking, so you can leave your car and wander into the city. A pretty patio area to enjoy that chilled glass of wine on a summers evening.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Kevin and I had a wonderful time staying at the cottage whilst performing at the theatre in Bath. It was a little home away from home, clean and cosy! Hope to come stay again! Lots of love Camilla Dallerup and Kevin Sacre xx

A lovely little cottage in Bath

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect base for our weekend exploring Bath. The cottage is very small, but cosy and well equipped. It is within walking distance of Bath centre and we enjoyed a nice scenic walk in to town. There was a Tesco express 2 minutes down the road which was very handy. The hosts were very friendly and gave us a warm welcome.

The Cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is small but adequate and the layout is abit strange with the toilet being upstairs via the bedroom, and the shower room via the lounge/kitchen, if sharing with non family members this can be awkward, hence why not many pictures. My husband is over 6 foot and he found the bedroom in the eves not good for his head and spriral staircase tricky. It is further than a 10 minute walk to town, I'd say 20-30mins, but its a pleasant walk downhill.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Your comments are appreciated and acted upon, although in our Holiday Rentals description it states a 15 minute walk into the city (not 10 as you say), however, I have split the difference and amended it to 20 minutes. It does also state the location of the toilet and the shower, we do not want anyone to be disappointed when they arrive so if guests are sharing we do always make it plain over the phone that the toilet is only reached through the bedroom area. I remember that you did not make the booking, so perhaps your friend did not pass this information onto you. I am sure you appreciate when converting very old buildings you have to utilise every space and the utilities open to you, the spiral staircase is a feature in itself, but if we know there are mobility issues with guests we will always re confirm that there is a spiral staircase, to ensure they are happy with that. I have amended the description of the mezzanine to include sloping roof, low at the sides so all those lucky tall people can be made aware. Thanks again, it was great having you stay. Louise and Chris

Laburnum cottage Bath

  • 4 of 5

This clean picturesque cottage was our home for the month of August and it was the perfect location for us to explore both the city and the surrounding countryside.

Information was available for us to plan our adventures.

Our hosts Chris and Louise made us welcome and offered any help we needed to make our stay pleasant. The circular staircase to the loft/bedroom area could be a little tough for less mobile guests.

Good grocery shopping is a twenty minute walk away - with a bus ride back!

There are good restaurants aplenty that will suit all tastes. Jamie's Italian was fun and good food. Lunch in the Pump Room is a must.

The race course gave us a chance to watch and bet with some success.

We would without a doubt, recommend this rental property to our friends.
