Beautiful home and stay!
This house had everything we needed and was in the most beautiful location. It was clean and bright and the floorplan was awesome. Would definitely recommend!
Stunning spot in the Bitterroot
We rented this property for a large group of friends visiting for our wedding. Tara and the owners were great—responsive and flexible. We even worked with them to use the house as a venue for a dinner for 75 people and they were great.
The house and views are stunning. Huge hit with our guests.
Luxury price tag but lacking in the details
A great view and a big house do not justify the price tag for this rental. To describe this as luxury is inaccurate. It is very nice and the view is epic but the house fails upon closer inspection. Clearly, the owner is simply looking to sell and is using VRBO in the meantime (you pass the for sale sign on the way in). This is not a serious luxury rental. Here is a list of what we thought fell short:
- Kitchen not adequately stocked with utensils and proper pots and pans. The fancy induction stove top had exactly one pot that clearly indicated we could use it. Kitchen knives were of the cheapest quality. There was no spatula, we had to get our own. No real baking sheets. This house is a good drive to town, cooking on our own to feed our large group was essential and we found it very difficult to do with how the house was stocked.
-Inflatable beds -One of them did not even have a pump! We called the management and they told us to keep looking with they tried to find a solution. By 10:30 at night, all we wanted was to get the kids to bed. We told the hosts that we had figured it out ourselves. They never offered to bring up another pump.
-Master bedroom - We were very much impressed with the view and the room until we saw that the bed was not even fully made. Pillows were strewn across the bed, some without pillowcases. It caused us to wonder if the sheets had even been changed.
- Master bedroom has no curtains. Be ready for some voyeurism when taking a shower and sunrises at 5:30am!
-Beds were sub-par for the price tag. Some were old, creaky and small except for the master
-There is no King size bed in the house.
-Pink bedrooms? Two of the rooms were pink and had kids’ room ceiling fans.
-No cable TV. The listing may indicate this but again, luxury?
- Cheap Grill - patio was plumbed for gas yet all we had was a small, cheap Weber grill. And no briquettes.
-Plumbing under the sink – While doing dishes, I felt a small pool of water directly in front of the sink. The Instant Hot Water Dispenser has a known leak as evidenced by the plastic tub placed underneath, right next to the electrical outlet and on top of a power bar that was sitting in a pool of water!
- Drains – All showers drained so slowly there was standing water.
Again, the few is spectacular. But, when you have to actually use the house, the details matter. And this house did not live up to the price tag.
Great property. Tara always available and spot on. Almost don’t want to write what a great place this is for selfish reasons. Don’t want it to get popular so we can’t stay here next year.
Worst weekend ever
My family is spread out over WA, ID and MT, and we were all coming together to MT to celebrate my daughter's 14th bday. 9 of my family members from 4 different households were going to be staying together at the house for 2 nights, and more family members were going to be visiting the house on the 2nd day for my daughter's birthday party. Hamilton had a lot of snowfall that week. I emailed the property manager (Tara) 2 days prior to ask if the road would be plowed for access to the home. I was told it would be plowed the morning of our arrival.
When we arrived after our 9 hour drive, the (literally) mile long drive, which was narrow and up steep switchbacks, was NOT PLOWED. I called Tara and she said that we just needed 4wheel drive. We had a 4x4 vehicle and an all-wheel drive SUV. We tried again but got stuck in the 3' of snow, my vehicle getting scratched by the brush that was covered by the snow. At this point it was 9 pm. Tara finally tells us the plow company never showed, and arranged for us to stay at a local hotel in town for the night. We were crammed into double queen rooms instead of a 6000 sq ft house.
Late the next AM, Tara tells us the plowing co was coming to plow the drive, but it would take 4-5 hours and that we could access the home after 5 pm. My daughter's bday party was scheduled at 1:00 that day, with about 15 other family members coming from other locations, and was supposed to be AT THE RENTAL HOUSE. We had to find a party location with about 2 hrs notice for over 20 people because of this mistake. (Ended up having it in a church basement). My daughter's bday was ruined because of this, and it put A LOT of stress on us.
We told Tara it didn't make sense to basically just spend the PM there and pack up the next AM, esp since we had to move my daughter's party to Missoula, an hour away. She agreed to "allow" the cancellation, and to refund us our $, minus the hotel costs.
When we received the refund, it was not only minus the hotel costs, but the VRBO fees too. I spent over a month back and forth with calls and emails trying to get VRBO and Tara to help with refunding the fees. After finally getting both on the phone at the same time to figure out a solution, Tara leaves me a one star review! My family's weekend was ruined because of Tara's negligence to verify the home was accessible even when we asked ahead of time. And she did not seem to care about the fees out of my pocket. Do not trust these people with your $!
Rebeka's family did come in to town during a record breaking snow storm. The snowplow got stuck about a half mile up the road so we put her family into a hotel. They were very understanding that night to work with. The next day we got an excavating company to plow the remaining road. Rebeka called and said that they would rather just stay in a hotel and agreed to pay us back for the first night hotel expenses if we would cancel the remaining booking even though the property was accessible the second day and we would lose the booking. We did send back all of her money except for the hotel expenses that we paid for. VRBO kept her processing fees and Rebeka was under the assumption that our company had access to those fees which we do not. She continued to contact me over a dozen times demanding her VRBO fees which I continually told her we did not have. I later found out that she also upgraded her hotel stay at our expense without permission or informing us. She has still not paid us for the remaining hotel bill.
Fantastic stay at the Executive Luxury Private Home
Tara's place was a hidden gem for sure, and my team that I booked it for could not stop raving about how this is where they want to stay every time we're back in Montana. Tara will also ensure that you have everything you need and more. Overall, we had a great experience with the home and the host. I would 100% recommend it to anybody!
