Don't do it! Ruined vacation!! Never got a key, plumbing issues
Booked Christmas week, no response till 2nd request, emailed questions, no response. Responded 4pm on check in, I had already emailed we would be there at 7pm. She said the key was under the mat. Directions say homes on the right & home is on left. We found it & no key. We called & texted. BTW, you will never reach the property manager that has an Ohio number by phone. She will only respond by text. An hour later, she finally responded & said she is sure the key is there. So we checked again & actually checked the other 2 houses next to it that they manage too & still nothing. Looked everywhere & by this time it was 9pm. We were getting ready to leave after a 15hr drive & I finally told husband to try the front door. It was unlocked & we felt like we were breaking in, but we were tired & figured we would get it straightened out in the morning, we checked in 12/22. That night & into the next day, I texted Shelly & explained what happened. She tried to blame us for late check in? I let her know the house didn't look like it had been cleaned. There was a lady bug infestation with live bugs flying around everywhere & dead ones all over the floor. The lid to the garbage can was actually inside the stove, there were hoses in the sink, the silverware was thrown in the drawer & it barely closed, no toilet paper, paper towels, or trash bag as stated, the tub downstairs was clogged & in minutes you are up to your ankles with water containing feces, & there was no cable & no internet, the hot tub had not been cleaned as it states, it was hot when we got there & there were pubes & a layer of scum around it. She said the property coordinator would be there to get me a key & she would call a plumber. I asked who the internet provider was as we had a Christmas video chat scheduled & she never replied. I called all the providers & they sent out a tech after hrs on phone. He showed up after Christmas & confirmed that there had never been both cable & internet, there was a whole cable missing. I had to harrass for the key & plumber, I had to explain we had a disabled family member that had not bathed in 4 days & still no key. My family left & she told us we could leave too but would only refund daily rate. In 7 days, no key, she said we should let the gate guy know we had a house full of valuables & no one would be there. Hmmhmm! We were never able to leave the house unattended, so no vacation outings for us. 2 weeks to initiate deposit return. See other reviews
Thanks so much for review. We appreciate that VRBO lets both renters and owners write reviews. We are sorry that communication was difficult in such a remote area with no cell phone service. Your review did not mention that we offered to move you to another home, cancel/refund you, sent a plumber, sent the cable company and our coordinator drive 30 min onsite to help you during your stay. More importantly, your review does not mention that we partially refunded you, only to have you challenge the full/entire payment AFTER your stay. This means with the partial credit already given and your full payment challenge - we actually PAID you to stay a week in the home. We have notified VRBO of your poor rental profile and other owners in the area of your stay with not only full refund, but the method you used to receive a payment credit after the stay. We pride ourselves on providing good customer service and always have opportunity for improvement. However, we are shocked you stayed an entire week, paid absolutely nothing and then got a credit payment for the week. - Shelly, ABR
Great accommodation for fishing trip!
Spent a week fishing Lake Cumberland, this property was perfect for us. Very clean and spacious house. Ample safe and secure parking. Hot tub was a bonus when the cold front hit!
We did not have an address so the check-in took longer than we thought. The house was great and the location of a launch ramp was right around the corner. Will return!!

Pro - Big windows, space to spread-out, clean/pleasant pool area.
Cons - Hot tub was never hot (even when adjusting the temperature), grill needs replaced, dryer took 3-4 runs to dry even the smallest load of clothes, pictures online need to be updated (not accurate), TVs in all bedrooms but non of them r hooked to cable, 1st bedroom the tv is broken and will not turn on, 2nd bedroom the tv has a game console which doesn't work, upstairs has a tv with dvd player, house was clean-ish but really needs a good deep cleaning, the downstairs bathroom drains really slow - did inform management but got no reply.
We have had several rentals with vrbo from 2012-2018. We know what it takes to run an effective rental business and get positive reviews.

We provide on-site staff to help with any issues during your stay - just text or call anytime for us to stop by vs waiting one month to review after your stay. We would have replaced the grill, adjusted the hot tub, & accelerated the bathroom drain very quickly during your stay and all have been corrected. We have informed the owner about the dryer and given feedback to the cleaning staff so thank you for those items. As noted on your reservation and at checkin, only one TV has cable - all others are provided for streaming devices since most renters now prefer selecting their own content and usually visit for the lake outside activities vs watching TV. We have been renting many homes in the area for 10+ years and hope you agree that good communication from renters is essential in such a remote area. - Shelly, A Better Rental
