About Michelle Olson

We have enjoyed the Oaks of Olivet since 2004 as visitors to Sonoma County. In July of 2010 we made the move from Minnesota to live here full time. We are affordable housing developers and work from our home office. We are on site to make sure our guests have everything they need, but understand that guests call the shots on how much privacy is necessary.

Michelle Olson purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Michelle Olson chose Santa Rosa

We fell in love in San Francisco and then visited wine country. This area was an annual anniversary trip for us after we married. The annual trips turned into quarterly visits to Sonoma and Napa. We truely fell for Sonoma and decided to purchase and make a plan to move here to live full time. Our 10 year plan has now come to fruition. We really love the friendly people in the area and the ease of life in general. The local fresh produce is also a real plus.

What makes this cottage unique

We have 9 award winning wineries on our road. Our property has a full fruit orchard and gardens that we share with our guests. We currently have peach, pear, plum, apple, fig and apricots. We have recently added a propane fire pit behind the cottage for our guests to enjoy.

Absolutely wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts Michelle and Loren are wonderful people, very welcoming and accommodating for our long stay with them. They made us feel right at home the entire time. Beautiful wine country location and a very comfortable cottage. We would highly recommended this place to anyone looking for a quiet county getaway.

Quaint, relaxing country cottage. Great place to have as a base for exploring wine country

  • 5 of 5

Our second stay at this property was even better than our first.

A great place to relax without bustle and bustle.

Enjoyed some of the fruits and vegetables from the owners garden, were entertained by the alpaca and goats in the backyard and had the privilege of relaxing around the fire with the owners and a bottle of wine

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location for exploring area. Michelle was so welcoming and responsive to all of our needs and requests. Loved the chickens (eggsceptional ladies of Olivet) and the fresh fruits and vegetables on the property. Several spaces for lounging and relaxing. And the oaks! Magnificent. Thanks for everything.

5 stars plus for The Oaks at Olivet

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at The Oaks at Olivet beginning with Michelle, our delightful host, to the magnificent Oaks themselves that tower over the property, to the reposing llamas. The cabin perfectly met our needs for a week's stay. Although the kitchen had no conventional stove or burners, Michelle has stocked it with an abundance of other cooking devices that served us adequately. My 96 year old mother-in-law slept soundly in the bedroom while we slept equally soundly on the futon/sofa bed. We loved having breakfast on the patio watching the llamas chew their cud and the goats playfully butting each other head to head. Finally, the roses remained in full bloom our entire stay, an exquisite finishing touch to a place we'll never forget.

Great place, great location.

  • 4 of 5

Very cute. Private. Outdoor shower and grill were great. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that kitchen is very small and partially equipped. If you are not planning to cook at home, or only plan to use the grill, no issue. Outdoor area had nice fire table. Great location and very accommodating hosts!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of the Oaks of Olivet. I understand your thoughts on the kitchenette, if you had read the description of our site you would have noticed that it is truly a kitchenette. I disclose what we have and what we do not have available for guests to cook, this is found in the amenities section of our site. The kitchenette is set up with a Mr. Induction hot plate with many different sized stainless steel pans, a convection toaster oven, an electric fry pan, a crock pot, a microwave oven, a coffee maker, an outdoor grill with side burner plus dishes and glasses for 6. Including many wine glasses, 4 margarita glasses (now only 3 due to an accident during your stay with us). We also have a blender and many other items to make cooking an easy task. Our most recent upgrade to the kitchenette was to add lovely granite counter tops this year. We hope you enjoyed your time and hope that in the future you understand the amenities before booking. Thank you.
