Charming apartment is set in quiet historic courtyard just off the Royal Mile in the heart of the city's Old Town. With many good shops, cafes and restaurants nearby as well as lots cultural and historical places to visit. This is the perfect place to stay when visiting Edinburgh.

The apartment is tastefully furnished with a slight Scottish influence and designed to make your stay in the capital as comfortable as possible. It's a home away from home and place you'll look forward to returning to. The beds are comfortable and with crisp cotton sheets to insure a good night's sleep. There is 1 kingsize bed in the main bedroom and 2 single beds in the second bedroom, both rooms have views to the south and toward Salisbury Crags.

Princes Street is a 5-10 minutes walk and the castle about 10 minutes walk though it will take you longer to walk to the castle as there are so many interesting places and good coffee shops to distract you on route.

A car isn't required as the city is complact and a good pair of walking shoes are a better idea. The roadworks and constantly changing priority of street signs make it stressful to drive round.

The airport bus passes by the courtyard and Waverley Station is about 5-10 minutes walk.

Please note - The building work on the site is behind the apartment was completed in July 2016 and is now landscaped too and looking beautiful.

About owner/property manager

I used to run a bed & breakfast and a few holiday cottages in East Lothian so moving to Edinburgh renting out self-catering apartments seemed like a good progression. Edinburgh is such a wonderful city with so much to offer. It's a great place to stay, it's very beautiful, with good restaurants, art galleries, and museums, as there's so much to see and do. When the Festival is on in August the place buzzes with happy people from all over the world.

I studied design and have always had an interest in property so doing up the apartments, making them homely and comfortable places to stay has been very enjoyable.

Why owner/property manager chose Old Town

I chose this apartment because of it's great location. If I where coming to stay in the city, I'd like to be in the heart of the Old Town, with everything within easy walking distance. The Castle, the Palace of Holyrood, Princes Street etc are all close by as are good restaurants and shops. Coming from the country a good night's sleep is also important and this apartment is in a quiet courtyard just off the Royal Mile so away from the sound of traffic and party revellers.

All the rooms in the apartment are decent size. It's bright and sunny which gives it a good feel and the views are pretty.

Waverley Station is a 5 minute walk as is the airport express bus terminal so if you want to be out of the city it's easy to do so.

What makes this apartment unique

It's such a brilliant location for enjoying all the city has to offer. You don't need a car and most places are walkable what ever the time of day or night. It's such a great city to live in.

Great location!

We loved our stay at the apartment. Very cozy, with everything we needed. The location is great and only a few minutes walk to the castle, New Town, etc. Would highly recommend it. Perfect for our family!

Fantastic Location! Very comfortable!

We decided to stay here because of the location and we were certainly not disappointed. There were 4 coffee shops within 100 years. The location is within walking distance to everything on the Royal Mile. Nice open space inside. the beds were extremely comfortable!

Pros: Location, great for the family, and the beds were wonderful!

Cons: Shower pressure. No elevator so had to take the stairs (this was not a con for us even with a stroller but needs to be mentioned for anyone that may not be able to walk two flights of stairs). The fireplace was not functioning.

Thank you for a great stay! We would certainly come back!

Incredible location, nice place

They say "location, location, location" is key in real estate, and that's the case for this lovely flat on the third floor. Walk less than 100 feet from the door and you're onto the Royal Mile. Walk 100 feet from the Royal Mile, and you're a the door leading to a quiet, spacious apartment. We had room to spare, were able to park a car nearby, and found the flat clean and inviting. We'd stay here again - and hope to one day.

Nice Apartment close to all the sights

We stayed there for 2 nights close to Christmas. The apartment building on the outside and the common areas were a little grungy but once inside the apartment, I have nothing but good things to say.

The manager of the apartment was excellent, nice touches with providing us with cookies and milk and fresh flowers on arrival. We stayed there with 2 boys aged 20 and 17. The rooms, beds and bath were comfortable. The shower worked well but the shower door covered only part of the tub, typical in many European baths, took a little getting used to for us. The kitchen was well appointed and modern. The location was very convenient, walking distance from the Waverly station, even with a bunch of suitcases. It is roughly in the middle of the Royal mile walking distance to both the Castle and the Holyrood Palace, Lots of good places to eat and drink nearby. We will definitely stay there again if we were to visit Edinburgh.

So close to the Royal Mile

We had a great 8 nights here ( myself, husband and 3 year old son) the accommodation is in the best location, right near the Royal Mile but far enough away to be quiet and cosy. The apartment has central heating, a great kitchen and washing machine and two bedrooms – with very comfortable beds. The place is nicely decorated but no so much that you need to worry about breaking things and therefore we could relax with a small child. The place was very child friendly. Kate is a wonderful manager and had left some fresh milk, bread and juice for us, which we really appreciated. The unit is close to everything and has some great places to eat, Kate also has the latest food guide and other relevant information which was wonderful. This place is great value, cosy and warm and you will have the time of your life. The only down side was getting up a couple of flights of stairs with heavy luggage but Kate was helpful with the bags and was exceptionally patient considering we got stuck in traffic and were 1 1/4 hours later than when we thought we would arrive. There is car parking a short distance from the unit but not on site. We would recommend this spot and when back in Edinburgh would stay here again. We would also recommend the Real Mary Kings Close Tour - well worth doing.
