Good, minus a few complaints
It was our first time visiting Chicago. This property seemed to be the best find for our money in our online searching. It was OK per my standard, maybe 'good' per Chicago standard?
There was no parking! It's street parking only and we could never find open spots. We were told to try SpotHero but it said there was nothing nearby.
The building is old, which is OK but once you get pass the lobby it does have an odor. The smell reminded me of a nursing home a bit.
The unit itself is as pictured. The kitchen was nice. The bathrooms were clean, but did run some brown water when I first turned it on both in the sink and shower. The carpet is very old and dirty feeling, like it's a bit crunchy under the feet. I would definitely recommend removing the carpet and opting for a flooring that is more durable. Only other complaint was that the AC unit in the bedroom leaked a little and it happened to leak right onto where it was plugged in. We put a towel in place to try to keep the electrical dry.
The bedding and towels were all clean. The bed was not super comfortable, definitely a cheap feeling mattress. There were a total of five pillows but they are pancake pillows.
All in all it was not bad, not great.
I'm sorry to hear you had a few issues with your stay! While street parking is free on all surrounding streets, it is first come, first serve. In regards to the AC leaking a bit, this is fairly normal, however, we can certainly find ways to relocate the outlet it's plugged into. Otherwise, glad to hear it fit your needs - hope to host your again soon!
Visiting our son.
Our accommodations were perfect. Bright and sunny rooms, that are simply and tastefully decorated. Plenty of basics to make for a comfortable and pleasant stay.
Overall it was a beautiful stay
My only complaint is that The heaters weren’t hot enough to warm up the apartment
There were some dirty dishes when we got there, but besides it everything was great. The apartment is big and in a great location.
Great location, beautiful building, minute from 57th St
Beautiful landmark building, well equipped’ spacious and airy apartment. Very comfortable. Friendly staff.
Great location, friendly staff, nice change from the hustle of downtown Chicago
Spacious one bedroom, two bath apartment. Nice kitchen with full assortment of utensils and such. Great location just a short walk to the paths along Lake Michigan and Lake Shore Drive as well as the Science Museum. We were in town for the Chicago Half Marathon, which starts and finishes in Jackson Park, which is adjacent to the apartment building. The location was perfect for this! Also close to the Metra line into downtown Chicago. We found the front desk staff to be very friendly and always greeting us as we came by. The room is exactly as pictured so no surprises there. We loved walking the neighborhoods and looking at the old apartment buildings. If you like the older style architecture and the feel of an older building, then you will love this place. We found a GREAT place for brunch (The Promontory) about a 10 minute walk away. The Biscuits and Gravy were delicious. If you don't need to be downtown, then this is a great area to stay in. You can always grab an Uber or take the train into town if you'd like. Overall a great place to stay and we would stay again.
