A Super Cottage With Secure Garage & Private Rear Garden & Direct Water Views

Enjoy wonderful water views of boats and harbour from this spacious, appealing holiday home with refreshed furnishings.

Harbourside Cottage is a bright and comfy mews-style waterside home with direct views of Portreath Harbour. Including unlimited Wi-Fi, the accommodation offers two bedrooms on the second floor - the master bedroom which has double aspect views on the harbour and the sea out to Gull Rock with a king size divan bed plus a smaller bedroom ideal for children or teenagers with bunk-beds (sorry not ideal for large adults)*. A good sized shower & WC is also on the upper floor.

On the first floor is an open plan living room with fully fitted and equipped kitchen has French doors opening onto a Juliette balcony that also looks down on the harbour boats and the changing tides.

The entrance hall leads to the garage with washing machine and tumble dryer and out to the lawned rear garden perfect for evening barbecues.

Harbour side Cottage is well placed to give easy level access to the beaches, pubs, shops and public transport. For those who love walking and biking the South West Coast path leads to Gwithian to the south and Porthtowan and St Agnes to the North. The mining trails lead directly from Portreath to Devoran and a gentle cycle will take you there for lunch.

Just up through Illogan woods is the lovely Gwel an Mor resort offering visitors indoor swimming and gym facilities as well as tennis for a small fee. They have a collection of animals on view including Raindeer, donkeys and chickens. Birds of Prey are often on show on selected days.

Tehidy woods and the Golf Course also has places to eat and a lovely lake with swans, ducks and squirrels and lots more besides.

The children will enjoy a visit to The Cornish Gold Mine, Mount Hawke Skate Park, and Mountain Bike and BMX tracks nearby. In the village there is a children's park and gardens.

The local towns of Redruth and Camborne are a great place to shop and hunt a bargain, with main supermarkets available at Pool.

Holiday makers will find it hard not to relax and unwind in this lovely spot and with the added welcome gifts including cream tea, wine and basic provisions including ground coffee for the cafetiere, toys for the beach and videos for the kids, everyone will enjoy their stay.

Note that Harbourside is available only on a 7 day let from Saturday to Saturday through the summer 2017

About Julia Preece, Home Cornwall

Jenny is the owner but she has kindly put this holiday home in my hands for safe keeping whilst she enjoys her travels in the USA. This is Graham (my partner) and I who run Home Cornwall - a business set up to offer a new approach to caring for property.

Julia Preece, Home Cornwall purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Julia Preece, Home Cornwall chose Camborne, Redruth & Hayle

It's right on harbour front and a level work to all the local amenities which include a bakery and a lovely well-being centre. The beaches are sandy and the walks are fabulous. Gentle or hard biking routes run from every corner of the village.

What makes this cottage unique

Lovely big bedroom overlooking the harbour with plenty of room for a cot, so there is a possibility to accommodate four plus a little one. The garage can make a great play room or wet suit store. It's a fun place to be in summer and a fascinating place to be in winter.

Fairly good - lacking some essentials

  • 3 of 5

Shower stall could be a bit cleaner.

Front door sometimes won't stay shut until you really slam it (probably not popular with neighbours).

Limited sizes of drinking glasses.

Limited cooking implements - could use thinks like tongs, baking sheet etc.

No replacement liners for bins.

Otherwise enjoyed our stay.

The holiday let was spotless,

  • 5 of 5

It was a very good holiday let and we loved to watch the tide come in and go out. every thing was to hand and it was nice just to pop across the road for a pub meal or, better still the delicous cornish pasties made by the nearby Portreath bakery.

Portreath in October

  • 4 of 5

The property was well maintained, very clean and attractively (and comfortably) furnished. The kitchen was well stocked with everything a household would need for cooking plus there was the added bonus of fruit, wine, coffee, milk, bread, scones, jam and cream.

It is perfectly situated on the quay side for a view of the changing tides and boats coming and going.

The beach is about 2 minutes walk away and is fabulously sandy and flat, ideal for children and surfers alike as it is on the Atlantic coast.

Local facilities were brilliant, a little supermarket and a bakers and several dining out/drinking places although we didn't visit any of them this time.

People were very friendly. The only downside was the garage (hence 4 stars) because our Honda Jazz would just fit and allow one door to open! Good job there is plenty of parking space outside.

Would definitely recommend this house for people wanting a quiet out of season rest - the French doors open to let in the glorious afternoon sun.

Owner's Response: Thank you kindly for your review. We're happy to know you enjoyed your stay. The garage is a multi-purpose area and not many are talented enough to park in it comfortably as most seem to park in front of the electric roller garage door. Well done! Hope to see you back again soon.

Excellent position for beach and local shops. From large picture window watch the bobbing boats and se a lot of the local life: we the pleasure of watching a bride and groom, posing for their wedding photos directly outside.

The welcome basket of goods both fresh and dry were outstanding,I have never received such bounty. Julia the Manager was very good.

Peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

Harbourside was very comfortable and everything it says on the web site. We really liked Portreath, quiet and like Cornwall of old. Just minutes from the beach and no steep cliff !!! Hopefully we will return.

Great property, fab location. We had a lovely holiday at Habourside, it was lovely to see the tide come and go, my husband said it was like being in Venice watching the water from the lounge window. We were lucky with the weather and the beach was only moments away, no steep cliff ! Hopefully we will return.
