The Apartment suits self catering winter skiing (piste, off piste, ski touring and cross country). Also an ideal base for a alpine summer holiday. Stunning panoramic views. This well equipped south facing apartment includes a working fireplace, balcony with BBQ, garage and ski locker.

Wifi is also included.

The Apartment faces south to the Col de Balme (2616m). It is set in a perfect location for enjoying the ski pistes cross country ski-ing, mountain biking, or simply walking - whatever the season!

La Clusaz is a very friendly family orientated resort, with a character unique and lingering. It is a place that is hard to leave, and to which you will want to return time and time again.

The apartment suits families, but their dogs are not allowed!

ACCOMMODATION:

Situated in a chalet of only 7 independent apartments at 1350m. The accommodation is set over two floors as a maisonette:

At first floor; a large master bedroom includes a double bed + settee. Gallery with two single beds.

At Ground floor; open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with large dining table, and settee by fireplace, second double bedroom. Bathroom per floor (shower at first floor, bath at ground floor). Two w.c.'s in total.

The Kitchen is well equipped with microwave oven and grill, electric hob, fridge, dishwasher, pressure cooker and fondue/raclette set! Private washing machine and dryer in basement.

The lounge opens onto the sunny balcony which is the width of the property and is a very practical size.

The closest ski lifts/cable cars and pistes are at La Balme (12 min walk, or 2 mins by car) which has a large free car park and fully links into the entire ski station.

The Apartment is approx 200m from a free ski bus stop.

By car (or bus) the apartment is approx 6/7 mins drive from the village centre, and the ESF ski school/ shops/restaurants etc.

Lac des Confins and 4 restaurants are approx 10 mins walk away.

Lake Annecy is only a 30 mins drive for beach swimming and water sports!

Resort Information - winter and summer:

In brief the La Clusaz ski zone covers 5 inter-connected mountain massifs with 86 pistes, and together with nearby Grand Bornand, provides over 220 km of ski pistes.

The official ski season runs from approx Dec 20 to the end of April.

Pistes and ski lifts etc are being regularly upgraded, and snow cannons have recently been added to the lower slopes at both Ski Stations.

Across these two ski stations the runs are classified as follows:

40 green - easy

45 blue - intermediate

36 red - hard

10 black - very hard

Very close to the Apartment (approx 15 minutes walking) is the Plateau des Confins with over 50 km of Ski de Fond pistes/trails and a ski school. The coupe du monde is often held there.

There are new cable cars from the Village centre installed in 2014 and 2017. This is all a big bonus for ski enthusiasts! These cable cars are easily reached from our apartment: The Bossonnet lift is on our side as one enters the Village.

Altitude ranges from 1100 (at village) to 2600 m.

La Clusaz is continually experiencing quality investment including new ski lifts and snow cannons, a 5 star hotel, and a Serge Blanco Deep Nature Wellness Spa, recently opened which welcomes guests.

If you are not a piste skier, of note the location is ideal for enjoying cross country skiing in the winter at the adjacent Plateau des Confins, which has 52 kms of trails. A 7 km trail goes to Grand- Bornand.

Walking in the summer is literally on the doorstep, with endless possibilities of glorious panoramas without involving a car.

In high summer the ski lifts operate, allowing walkers, sightseers, and mountain bikers to make the most of the possibilities.

Entertainment is on hand in the summer with many mountain biking trails. Activities for children are plentiful. There are even 2 zip wires across the Lac des Confins to raise the adrenalin.

Fishing permits are available for the lake which is stocked with Trout.

A number of excellent Restaurants are approx 10 minutes walk away, near to the Lac des Confins, and many more can be found in the Village!

The Tourist board in La Clusaz operates a busy programme of entertainments in both the winter and summer seasons, with the emphasis on families. Brochures are available.

There is an excellent market every Monday in the Village.

There is a great swimming pool as well as a cinema in the village centre.

Transport: We recommend you travel by car, but we can offer a pick up and return to Geneva Airport through 'Aravis Transfers', to save you hiring a car. For more information please enquire with your booking request.

What makes this apartment unique

The view from the apartment is inspirational. The character and beauty of the resort is not spoilt by tourism, and remains 'traditional' with a truly french flavour, missing in many french resorts. The snow record is also excellent and as is supplemented by snow cannons to ensure the lower pistes can now remain open even in bad winters.

Min height 1.45 m at 1st floor. Built in BBQ on external balcony. Basement garage. Personal Washing Machine and Dryer located also in the basement, in a communal laundry room. Secure Ski locker. We recommend a maximum of 6 guests (preferably 4 adults/ 2 children) for your enjoyment (even though there are 6 beds available). In France the property is registered 3 *** for 4 occupants. We do not think it suits three adult couples, as the first floor balcony area does not provide sufficient privacy or accommodation. NB: The French registration of properties is very strict and follows regular inspection by them, and Locatherac, to maintain very high standards and quality control of rental property. Locatherac do not keep sub-standard properties on their books, to avoid complaints about quality by its customers.

Appartment at Les Confins, La Clusaz

Excellent modern appartment, very well equipped. Superb location with wonderful views. It was within walking distance of the cross country skiing area of Les Confins and the Alpine skiing area of La Balme with La Clusaz being a short bus ride away on the free ski bus.

Very comfortable for 4 adults, but would be cramped for 6 due to limited living space and very small kitchen area.

Property was in a modern block of 8 with underground garage area - although our garage was very difficult to get into. The appartment and property as a whole was very clean and well maintained.

Would definitely recommend it for 4 adults - but could be difficult for young children due to limited living space and open stairs.

Owner's Response: We are pleased with this review but need to comment upon some issues raised by it. We do not disagree that the apartment is best suited to only 4 adults ie rather than 6 adults, but if 2, 3 or 4 adults are accompanied by children, teenagers etc we believe that a total of 6 are very well suited. We find the first floor gallery area best for 2 children or teenagers to sleep. The open tread stairs would not be a problem for any children capable of skiing! The balustrades are safe. The sanitary accommodation is very generous compared to other apartments, and this works very well for parties of 6. The kitchen is admittedly of compact design, but it is surprisingly well equipped and serviced. We have catered for 8 and admit this is stretching its capacity to the limit. The garage is best reversed into. Since March 2008 we have relaid the first floor bedroom and gallery in timber laminate.

Lovely accommodation in a stunning location

Having not visited this area before we were having to trust the details provided - they were very accurate and in our opinion possibly a little under-stated.

The apartment is very cosy and welcoming and is close to the village of La Clusaz with all its amenities. The views in summer are superb - in winter they must be so much better.

The property was left in an immaculate condition and was well maintained with very good service provided by the owner.

Would we recommend the property to friends / relatives? Without a doubt, and for those seeking winter sports it must be a dream to be in such a location.

There are a number of bars and restaurants in the village, in summer these tend to call 'last orders' rather earlier than we would have liked but we soon adapted to the local pace of life.

The journey from Geneva airport by car is very simple (once you have found your way onto the motorway - make sure you get accurate directions from your car rental office!) and very pretty once you turn off of the motorway.

There are lots of great places to visit in the area - Lake Annecy, Chamonix etc all within an easy drive.

For those who are looking for a great place to spend a holiday either in summer or winter you can do a lot worse than base yourself in La Clusaz and this listing is well worth looking at and considering. We were not disappointed.

Apartment with gorgeous view

We have stayed in this property twice, once at Christmas and the other at New Year's. The property is quiet, in the Confins area of La Clusaz and close to La Balme for skiers. This year we had six people staying in the apartment and we did run out of hot water every day as the timer was not working during the day. The apartment is best suited for 4 people although we managed with six because 4 of them were young people. La Clusaz was very busy for New Year's and we found driving into La Clusaz between 4-6p.m. very difficult with a long ques coming down the mountain. Parking was also very hard to find in the town. Otherwise we had a very good week and love the area and the town. New Years Eve was wonderful with fireworks over the town and a row of skiers coming down the mountain with torches.

Owner's Response: We are proud of the fact we are getting regular repeat bookings from our guests. This not only reflects well on La Clusaz, but on our Apartment too. All our repeat guests will notice we have a policy of regularly upgrading the available fittings and furnishings. In 2010 for instance we expanded the kitchen which had been somewhat cramped in the past. The main bedroom was fully upgraded in 2009. We have always contended that 6 adults are not suited to the accommodation despite the generous facilities on offer. The hot water problem has been resolved as a consequence of the feedback we received: a new hot water cylinder had been installed in early 2010 and had been unknowingly on a night time setting ever since. This had been the first complaint about the water temperature since the new tank was installed, so we hope no other guests have been quietly suffering. The tank is certainly big enough for 6, and now the setting is on 24 hour, there will be no shortages of hot water! We suspect we dropped at least one star through the water problem sadly encountered by our guests, and hope they will make a third visit before too long!

Un magnifique hiver à La Clusaz

Nous avons loué ce magnifique appartement pendant presque tout l'hiver 2011-2012, sauf pendant les vacances scolaires de février. Nous avons passé un excellent hiver! L'appartement est magnifique, très propre, pratique, charmant et avec une vue splendide. Les 2 chambres ont chacune leur salle de bain ce qui est très pratique. La cuisine est parfaitement aménagée, même si elle est petite. Aucun problème de concocter de bons petits plats. Le micro-onde fonctionne très bien et a même un fonction grill et une fonction four.

Le must est de faire un BBQ sur le balcon avec la vue sur les montagnes!

L'appartement est très bien situé. Une des pistes de ski de fond passe à 100m de l'appartement.

L'appartement dispose aussi de son garage privé ainsi que son prope lave-linge/séche-linge.

En résumé nous recommendons vivement cet appartement pour 4 à 6 personnes (idéalement 4 adultes et des enfants).

La Clusaz is one of a very small group of renowned French ski resorts which are not purpose built, but are located next to world class ski areas. Indeed this traditional Savoyard village is regarded by some as one of the most picturesque in France. It has attracted tourists since the beginning of the 20th C, and enjoyed its 100th Anniversary in 2007.

The Village of La Clusaz is unspoilt and beautifully located in the Aravis mountains. The chalets are traditional, with wooden shingles. It positively welcomes families, and with its proximity to popular Lake Annecy (only 30 minutes drive) offers unrivalled opportunities for year round holidays.

For eating out there is an excellent choice of over two dozen restaurants, and excellent apres-ski in the village. There are also a number of restaurants within 10 minutes walking.

The resort is fully integrated across 5 mountains.

New in 2015 were new access cable cars to the main town pistes at Le Bossonnet, within easy reach of our Apartment. These are to diversify the mountain access points away from the Village centre which is also being served by a new cable car installed during 2017 .

The Apartment is closest to the cable cars and the Pistes of La Balme, which provide the best and highest runs of the resort till end of April each year.

Other Activities: luge - summertime, cross county skiiing, night skiing, ice karting and skating, dog sledging

Golf: In the summer season golfing is possible nearby at Les Confins plateau - including a driving range. A full golf course exists at Grand Bornand.

Ski: In brief La Clusaz, together with Grand Bornand, covers 5 inter-connected mountain massifs with over 220 km of ski pistes. Off piste is renowned. Ski season runs from approx Dec 20 to the end of April.

The property is at 1350m, approx 4 km from the village. Close to Lac des Confins, it faces the Col de Balme (2616m) which has two cable cars within walking distance, linked into the resort and village. The free ski bus stop is only 200 yards walk, and links all the ski areas together.

It is a perfect location for enjoying the ski slopes, cross country skiing mountain biking or simply walking and relaxing.

Families are well catered for.

The local ESF Ski School + other private ski schools instruct in a choice of languages.
