Prince Edward and Wallis Simpson adored their beautiful weekend home, the estate is stone built of the 18th century, situated in a rural setting on the outskirts of the small town of Gif sur Yvette, yet within easy reach of Paris. Imagine you arrive at a beautiful spacious property in lovely grounds, get straight down to lunch or dinner already for you by pre arrangement, just pop it in the oven, pour a glass of wine and wonder where the kids are, not to worry they are probably racing around the extensive gardens, exploring the grounds or peaking through the windows of the little buildings dotted around this magical garden. The tables set all you need to do is unpack or slouch about in our comfy sofas and relax. Once you have settled in and you want to go further afield, the train to Paris is either an approx 25 min walk via the beautiful town of Gif Sur Yvette, a must see in itself or 5 minutes by car free parking at the station, purchase your day tickets for Paris public transport (easy all in English you just need to know Gif Sur Yvette is in zone 5) hop on the train all relevant stations for the next train arriving are lit up so its fool proof and they run every few minutes so take your pick. Some fantastic child friendly tours and restaurants in Paris, then hop on the train back, another pre ordered freshly prepared meal is waiting for you, just uncork the wine. Paris and Versailles and Disneyland are the obvious options but there is so much more to do. I like the fact that you are not cooped up in the fume congested city, the children have room to run and you don't have to do all of Paris in three consecutive days complete over kill for any adult never mind the children, take three days but have a break in between and relax in this tranquil setting, far more enjoyable.
