A charming period 2 bedroom stone cottage dating back to the seventeenth century that potentially sleeps 5. Melling is a peaceful village in the beautiful Lune Valley, nestled directly between the Lakes District and Yorkshire Dales.
A quick drive to both the Lakes District and the Yorkshire Dales in the beautiful Lune Valley. Church Place Cottage - just off the A683 - originally belonged to the Manor House and then was converted in the early 1980s to the current layout which is atmospheric as it enjoys a central position within the historic village of Melling.
The two Bedrooms comfortably sleep 3 (the second bedroom contains a single bed, desk and ergnomic chair). There is also a sofa bed in the lounge so the property can potentially sleep 5.
Please note: The property has not been renovated since the 1980s and is now in need of some updating. The style is perhaps best described as shabby chic - which is why this cottage rental is generally more affordable than other Lakes District and Dale Cottage accommodation. Perhaps too that is part of its appeal. It is a charming traditional cottage with a period feel that includes a warm, cosy living room and kitchen. At present the TV is not connected (who wants it anyway!) but full wifi internet is available if you have your own laptop.
At this point we are only looking for bookings for the spring period from May 16 - 26. Soon we may also be listing the property for the entirety of the summer months from June 1 to August 23. If you are interested in a summer let please contact us.
The quiet village location in the Lune Valley is idyllic. In the nearby market village of Kirkby Lonsdale just a few minutes drive away (also accessible by bus, as are Ingleton and Lancaster) Turner painted a view that has been described as the best in all of England. Beyond the peaceful surrounds and delightful country walks of the village there are the nearby Dales and the Lakes national parks. The cottage is right on the outskirts of the Dales. You can be exploring the beautiful village of Ingleton in just a few minutes. Meanwhile the panorama of the Lakes District is only thirty (Kendal), or forty (Windermere) minutes drive away. Close to two areas of outstanding natural beauty, but quietly perched on the outskirts of all the summer traffic, this is an idyllic place to spend the summer months.
The entire stone cottage
The car parking area (room for one car only) out the back. Please note that parking is also available opposite the cottage for guests.
