Following a complete top to toe renovation, The Bothy is available to let for the first time. The perfect couples' retreat, the cottage offers well-presented, spacious accommodation in a peaceful location at the end of a private road on the Swinton Hill Estate.
Inside, the light, bright open-plan living space is the convivial heart of the house. On warm days, French doors let the fresh Borders air in and there is a wood burner and central heating for cosy winter evenings. The outside seating area is a lovely spot for an evening drink watching the sun set over the distant hills.
There is excellent walking and cycling from the cottage and a riding stables nearby. With easy access to the River Tweed, The Bothy is an ideal base for fishing parties. Golfers are also well provided for with 16 courses within a 30 mile radius, ranging from challenging PGA Championship courses, to picturesque links and parkland courses to suit all standards.
The Bothy is ideally-positioned for exploring the Borders and North Northumberland including the Northumberland National Park and the stunning coastline. Edinburgh is an easy day trip; just over an hour by car or 45 minutes on the train from nearby Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Local amenities are provided by the villages of Norham and Cornhill-on-Tweed and the historic town of Coldstream. The charming towns of Duns and Kelso are both within a 15 minute drive and provide excellent local amenities in addition to a good selection of pubs and restaurants.
For guests who enjoy eating out, The Bothy is just a few miles from several good restaurants including The Collingwood Arms at Cornhill-on-Tweed and the Allanton Inn.
The accommodation at The Bothy is all on one level and comprises:
Well-equipped kitchen with oven and four ring hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment and washing machine. (NB There is no dishwasher). Glass doors lead to the open-plan living area.
Spacious sitting / dining room with French doors to the garden. Cosy seating area with log burner for the cooler months (logs are provided), two double sofas, TV with Freeview, books and games. Dining table for 6 guests.
Bedroom with 5' bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and WC.
Excellent quality bed linen and luxurious White Company towels are provided for all guests.
Central heating throughout.
To the front of the property is a small seating area (part lawn and part terrace) with lovely views across open farmland to the hills beyond.
There is private parking for two cars to the side of the house.
Catering and housekeeping
Homemade meal delivery, local produce delivery and cooks are available. Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys will also deliver. Daily housekeeping is available. Please contact us for further details.
Two dogs are welcome at The Bothy. Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture.

Beautiful cottage finished to a very high standard....spotless and well maintained, equipped with everything you could possibly need...and more. The owners, who live close by, are non intrusive but are delighted to offer advice or help if needed. Perfectly situated for exploring either the coast or the lovely border towns or, if you prefer, to just chill out and relax in. I would certainly recommend this holiday let to others.

This cottage is in excellent condition and very comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome. A great place to stay to explore the unspoilt Berwickshire (and beyond) countryside. If you are looking for a comfortable quiet spotless cottage to stay in you are going to be hard pushed to find anything better.
