A gem of a property on the outskirts of Amiens
Property is set well off the main road at the end of a cul-de-sac with a security gate for access. The house is a good size; kitchen well equipped and beds very comfortable. There is no built in air conditioning but the owner, Chantal, provided fans and moveable air conditioning unit (it was between 35 and 40 degrees celsius in the week we were there so much appreciated).
You can hear the trains but didn't bother us even with the windows open. Lovely large garden next to the river with use of sunbed, benches etc.
Chantal lives in the house below and is extremely helpful. She doesn't speak English and we didn't speak French but got by on Google translate where necessary.
There's an Aldi 10 mins walk from property (open 8:30 to 19:30). Bus stop (Sobo) is a 5 minute walk . Get N1 bus into Amiens...run every 15 minutes until midnight! You can buy a 24 hour ticket..hop on hop off basis (just over €6 for up to 5 passengers so well worth it). Taxi costs around €10 per trip.
Notre Dame Cathedral is a must. The free evening light show (22:30) is incredible.
Plenty of bars and restaurants
Lovely apartment, very clean and had everything needed. Beautiful garden right next to the river. Chantal was absolutely lovely and so helpful despite not speaking English and our French being very poor! 2 things to note, it is next to a railway so a bit noisy at times and I stupidly didn’t realise you have to pay a cash breakages deposit + sleeping tax on arrival, so make sure you have cash, or like us you will be desperately searching for a cash point on a Sunday evening (when everything is closed).
Good location for exploring Amiens and the WW1 memorials.
Lovely apartment in lovely grounds
Great accommodation. A little out of town but it's a nice bike ride along the river.
Chantel doesn't really speak a word of English so you'll need to brush up on your GCSE French to get by!!
Would definitely recommend
Beautiful location. Warm welcome. Great holiday.
We can highly recommend Amiens and the Petit-Marais. It was a great start for 4 of us visiting battlefields and memorials.
The house had all the comforts and as the weather was so hot Chantal brought us fans and a portable air conditioner. But we spent most of our time in the garden which was beautiful and relaxing. The steps up to the top floor flat are steep so wouldn't suit everyone. But we loved it and would recommend it unhesitatingly. Merci Chantal.
My wife and I stayed in this apartment for four nights at the end of September, 2017. It was well equipped and comfortable and situated next to an extensive garden with an offshoot of the River Somme on the one side. Excellent location to visit the WW1 sites and Memorials. Small grocery not too far away. Onsite parking is a plus. Close to a bus route to central Amiens which avoids having to find parking when visiting the beautiful Cathedral etc. The owner was very helpful . We managed to communicate despite our limited French and her limited English. Would highly recommend this vacation home.
The property was as described and as two couples we had a very pleasant stay. We would happily visit again.
Note that the €200 deposit must be paid in cash, something we overlooked.
Quartier St - Leu with its regional tables at the foot of the cathedral, visit the Hortillonnages, Way Hauling 10 minutes leasing feet. House Jules Verne.
