1 Bdrm Apartment With Period Features in the Heart of London

Hello and welcome to our lovely little flat we look forward to hosting you soon.

Located in Zone 1 and with high ceilings and period fireplaces this flat is the perfect place to stay in London. The flat has a fully equipped kitchen ceramic stove, oven/microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. There is a 40' wall mounted flat screen TV, DVD player, iPod docking station and sofa bed in the living room. The bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed and plenty of storage. There is both a washing machine and dryer in the bathroom and linen and towels are provided. For your safety the flat has a security door entry phone system and smoke detectors.

I am from New Zealand but have made London my home for the past 12 years. I have travelled extensively and have also lived in Canada and the U.S. I love London and intend on making this my home for the foreseeable future, however I must admit to being a little home sick at times and try to get back to NZ as often as my busy work life allows.

My apartment is in such an amazing location, most Londoners travel at least an hour to work and back everyday missing out on the enjoyment and wonder that living in Central London brings. The apartment is perfectly formed, well laid out and comfortable. The period features add to the character of the apartment. I just think it is a super little flat in an amazing location

Great flat near Big Ben

We loved our stay at this flat in December. Instructions were clear on how to use the heat, hot water, laundry, oven, etc. It was fast and easy to connect to the wifi. We enjoyed watching British TV when we were relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The location is fabulous. We walked by Parliament every day on the way to the tube station at Westminster. The flat is in a quiet neighborhood and in a quiet building. The bed was quite comfortable. There is a Tesco near by for groceries as well as two quick take-away places on the same corner as the flat. We enjoyed it so much we recommended it to our friends, who stayed there in March, and they also found it a great place to stay!

Would totally come back!

Can't beat the location! Super cute, cozy space. Common old building uniqueness. Loved breakfast at the Cellarium - enter Westminster's Dean's garden from Tufts street gate to Dean #20 (guard station), among so many other convenient sights.

The pictures do not fit reality

My husband and I were in London last week.

We came from Barcelona where we had a very good experience with another property we rented through VRBO. However, the experience in London was not even close.

The department was not clean. The floor was marked with the footsteps of the prior guest…. We tried to clean, but the “tools” to clean where so dirty that we prefer not to use them.

The towels were smelly ... We had to washed them all.

The window of the front door was broken.

The front door paint was in very bad condition . It looks stained and broken.

The locks in the rooms did not work.

The floor in the bathroom was divided from the floor in the hallway with a masking tape that looks really dirty and deteriorated.

When we arrived (Saturday) and until Monday, the trash was in the hallway. The same situation on Thursday, when we checked out.

The sofa in the kitchen was not clean.(greasy)

I think that the price of the the apartment is not reasonable considering its current condition, which is not, at all, noticeable in the pictures in vrbo.

Owner's Response: i am disappointed to read your review. I have apologised in private exchanges and offered to refund the cleaning fee but this does not seem to be enough. To answer your point: The agency disputes your claims, they tell me that the flat was checked prior to your arrival and that it was in a suitable state for your arrival. They tell me you entered the flat while the floor was still wet, i.e. Just been cleaned. I am also told the towels had actually been replaced just prior to your stay this had been arranged by me and carried out by the agency before you moved in. So perhaps it was the new smell of the towels? As I told you in our previous exchange, I suffered severe water damage from the flat above, this caused damage to the front door, it was superficially repaired and will be completely repaired later in the year when the flat is repainted. The door is functional and secure and from what I am told by a friend that routinely checks the flat was in a more than reasonable condition. I was unaware about the pane of glass and will have this repaired. The doors inside the flat are 100 + years old, the handles and locks are ornamental and not for locking, there are no keys, I don't know what your issue is here??? Yes you are right, the metal strip between the hallway and bathroom is deteriorated and will be repaired along with a few minor works very soon. I am just waiting for a quote and time to have this completed in the next couple of weeks. I don't believe it is such an issue to warrant this rating! As I have already said to you...... the garbage is cleared from the communal hallway from Monday - Friday. Perhaps the cleaner was away on Thursday??? In any case, this is clear in the manual at the flat and instructions are there should you wish to move the garbage from the hall. I disagree and think that the price is more than reasonable. As I have already said to you, a hotel (without bedroom, kitchen facility, washer/dryer etc) would cost much more in this location. I have not increased my prices in 3-4 yrs and feel the flat represents good value for money. As do other guests, my reviews are 4/5 stars and comments and feedback are positive. I went out of my way to accommodate you. you arrived very late, the agency charges £35-£50 for this, I covered the cost of this. I would also like to say, in future please address your concerns at the time, do not wait until after the fact and then demand a "substantial" discount. Seems unreasonable to me.

Simply Perfect

This flat couldn't be in a more perfect location!! We were within walking distance to 95% of everything we wanted to do, and just a short Tube or cab ride away from everything else. It was cozy, clean, well organized, and had all the amenities we needed to feel at home for the week. It is a small flat, but the ability to close doors and have your own space, or cook breakfast before heading out on your adventures, is more than you'll ever find in a standard hotel room for the same price (if not more).

We are a family of three: My husband, our 11 year old daughter, and myself. As a parent I am always concerned about the neighborhood, but I can honestly say it is extremely quiet and safe. Several times my daughter and I strolled the streets alone at night down to the grocery store or the coffee shop with no worries at all....and having a coffee shop right outside the front door just topped off the level of perfection!! Tim is very quick to respond to emails and goes out of his way to make sure everything is taken care of.

London is a magnificent city that should be experienced and explored!! It has so much to offer and is, by far, the cleanest and safest places I have ever visited! I can't wait to return...and I will definitely stay here again!! Thank you, Tim!! CHEERS!! :)

Loved being at home in the Heart of London

I visited London with my friend for the first time for a three night stay. I can not imagine a more lovely location to truly feel at home in London. The Beautiful Bijou Apartment is as beautiful as shown in the pictures, very quaint and tastefully done. Although we did not spend very much time at the apartment as the location allowed us to explore the area so conveniently, we appreciated coming back to our sweet apartment mid day for a break before our next adventure. I was attracted to come to this apartment when I read a review saying they enjoyed hearing the bells of Big Ben at night. This was a highlight for me as well. It gave me great joy to know where I was in the world. I loved my short early morning walk Sunday morning to Westminster Abbey to attend services there with all it's beauty and amazing choir. We leisurely walked to all the sites I hoped to see in our short stay, St. James Park, the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, beautiful walk across the river with all the extremely talented street musicians to London Eye, visited the 1600's pub The Red Lion where Charles Dickens had frequented, historic Trafalgar Square with all the colorful people and beautiful viewpoint from the steps of the National Gallery Museum, marvelous dinner in China Town. Returning to the airport was done with ease walking to tube Westminster Station (with one connection). This short walk allowed me see Westminster Abbey and Big Ben one last time:). I highly recommend this stay. Although we did not meet Tim, we had very good correspondence with him and he made arrangements for our entrance to the apartment. Thank you, Tim, for sharing this gem. We fell in love with London from here.

Great location!

Wonderful location close to the underground stations of St James Park and Westminster, yet in a quite neighborhood. The flat needs some updating but everything you need is all there. We had a great time!
