About the property

Superb for active, outdoor or calm, relaxing holidays

Beautiful townhouse with modern "open plan" living, two bedrooms + separate clic clac, two bathrooms with a large sunny terrace. The townhouse, situated on the edge of town near to the Pont du Diable, was redecorated in April 2015.

On entering the property you immediately step into the bright comfortable open plan lounge.with seating for six plus a fully equipped modern kitchen.

The vaulted roof of the living area helps to provide a spacious uncluttered area. From here the large very sunny terrace tempts you to experience all the joys of outdoor living. Here you will find a dining table for six, plus sun loungers in which to relax.

The house is an upside down property which allows the downstairs sleeping areas to be cool in summer and warm in winter.

A spiral staircase leads down to the ground floor.

Here there are two bedrooms (1 x double and 1 x twin bedded), both have en-suite shower or bath facilities. The located off of a large spacious area.where a comfy sofa bed (clic-clac) provides an additional double bed sleeping area.

Swimming is possible at three different nearby locations.

1- There is a large "Communal" open air swimming pool in Ceret, (5 mins from the house by car, 15 mins on foot).

2- Plan D'Eau, is a large landscaped area with parkland and two lakes. This water park is great for picnics, walks, adventure high ropes trail and even water skiing in the second lake. (10 mins by car)

3- Finally the beach and the sea is only a short journey away (30 mins by car).

A home away from home

  • 3 of 5

We stayed for 12 nights at the house in June 2017. The pictures and the description are absolutely accurate. The house is situated near the bridge, in the quiet outskirts of Ceret. It has two levels connected through a spiral staircase: the lower level has two bedrooms, baths, sitting room, WC and laundry room and the upper level has the living/dinning room which opens into a large terrace. The house is well maintained, clean, tastefully decorated. A lot of attention has been given to details. The owners are very helpful. Prior to our arrival they answered our emails and gave us all the necessary information in due time. Also, they left a lot of useful notes throughout the house which helped us understand quickly how things work. The kitchen is well equipped with new utensils, pots, dishes, etc. The laundry room is perfect.

We found the house clean, quiet and comfortable. The only thing we missed was Wi-Fi. It was difficult to contact the owner during our stay. Also, it was not possible to Google for tourist information or keep in touch with work and family.

A nuisance was the AC unit in the kitchen which is placed right above the stove and which drips when in use. We had to keep a bucket under it and mop the floor from time to time. While cooking we had to turn the unit off. Fortunately, the weather was hot only for the first week. The second week, there was no need for AC.

To sum up, we had a wonderful vacation, loved the house, loved Ceret and the boulangerie near the bridge (walking distance).

Thank you Nigel and Sue. You are wonderful hosts.

A Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely property and finished to a high spec, the photos on the web site of Owners Direct do not do it justice. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a spiral staircase from the ground floor up to the kitchen which was very well equipped and sitting area so this property would not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

We had a large terrace with garden furniture and we were able to sit outside for some meals.

Ceret itself is within walking distance and is a charming small town with shops, cafes and restaurants. There are some lovely restaurants in Ceret with friendly staff and excellent food. The scenery is stunning and the town is surrounded by the Pyrenees which were still topped with snow. The whole area is very beautiful. Ceret is famous for its cherries and they were just coming into season and we were fortunate to be able to buy some and take a punnet home. There is lots to see and do and we would recommend The Little Yellow Train which is in Ville Franche which takes you further up into the mountains. We had a fantastic day for this trip, the views are amazing and the weather was great.

There is plenty of information to hand in the house so that you can choose what activities you would like to do.

All in all this was a lovely holiday. The only downside is that there is no Wifi but you can get this in one of the cafes but it is slow and intermittent.

cozy house ideal for family close to town

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful and relaxed time. The house was very pleasant and cozy close to town but still withdrawn and quiet. It was ideal for a family with two bedrooms with separate bathrooms. The view from the Big terrace is beautiful and the scenery surrounding Ceret is invites to experiences and trips in the mountains.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your very kind words. Ceret is a beautiful town offering so much to do and see, set in a stunning part of France. The mountains, the sea and Spain are a short drive from the house and the area is simply overflowing with cultural and gastronomic opportunities. We are very happy that you enjoyed your holiday.

Superbe vacances !

  • 4 of 5

Encore merci
