About the property

Traditional Thatched Cottage situated on the beautiful Renvyle Peninsulal

With superb far reaching views of the sea and Connemara Mountains, this Romantic Detached Thatched hideaway is situated in a peaceful spot on the beautiful Renvyle Peninsula

Full of Olde Worlde charm, with small cottage windows and beams, makes a perfect retreat for a romantic honeymoon, as it is only a 10 minute stroll to the lovely Tully beach, Pier and harbour, where children enjoy to swim in the evening, when the tide comes in over the warm sand. My grandchildren love it.

With so much to do in the area, where do you start?

The National Park at Letterfrack is a 10 minute drive away. Opened to the public in 1980 The Connemara National Park is dominat3d by the massive Diamond Mountain, from the top visitors can enjoy views of 2,957 hectares of mountains, bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands.

some of the Park's mountains - Benbaun,Bencullagh Benbrack and Muckanaght - are part of the famous 12 Bens or Benna Beola range. Many lands which are now part of the park were once owned by the Kylemore Abbey Estate and the Letterfrack Industrial School. At present the whole area of the National Park is owned by the State and managed solely for National Park purposes.

The gorgeous valley of Kylemore, only 10 minutes aaway, is dominated by the astonishing Kylemore Abbey. The Building was built in 1864-1871 by an Englishman Mitchell Henry. When on honeymoon, at a shooting Lodge in the area his new bride, Margaret said to him 'Mitchell, build me a castle here' and his love for her was so great that he did!!!

Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round on the scenic Ocean and lakeside course at the nearby Renvyle House Hotel. The hotel was once owned by the Poet Oliver St John Gogarty.

Horseriding is available from the local village of Tully

adventure Centre Centre is on the Shores of the Killary near Leenane, there you may participate in many sports and outdoor activities from sailing, scuba diving cycling, climbing and these are available for both adults and Bridgies Thatched Cottage makes an ideal location for family or friends to come on a fun packed holiday together.

The cottage is traditional and has its own natural garden, surrounded by hedges of Fuschia for privacy

A lovely, relaxed stay, in a stunning location

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was very rustic and quaint, just what we wanted. Situated in a beautiful location. Remote, but not too far of a stroll to local amenities, and within walking distance of stunning, unspoilt beaches. Evelyn, the owner, was lovely and very helpful. She made sure we wanted for nothing. The apple pie and bottle of wine on our arrival went down a treat! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would be more than happy to stay there again.

Cosy cottage with great access to the Atlantic & nine-hole golf courses

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay here. The cottage was nestled in a cosy nook but very accessible to the beach and to the nearby village as well as all the things we wanted to see and do along the Atlantic Coast. We went to Galway and the Cliffs of Moher on a day trip which was fine but made for a very long day. Played nine-hole golf a few times which was much more fun than some of us non-golfing types expected, although the kids loved this activity. Any concerns were immediately addressed by the Sean and Evelyn who were easily contactable and willing to help (our kids and one of us parents started to freak out when we thought the wifi wasn't in order, but it just needed a reboot after which it was great). We got some great tips on where to eat and what to do. Sean took us through the house when we first arrived and also advised us that there'd be some additional nominal cost related to using utilities (electricity, gas, oil etc) which was good to know since we didn't realise that would be the case. This ended up being around 20 euros because we just used the washing machine and dryer, so it's worth keeping this extra cost in mind, especially if you need heating when it's colder. We had a fabulous stay and would absolutely recommend this charming thatched cottage for a couple as well as a family with a couple of kids. Our 12 and 15-year olds were happy with the wifi access and the tv channel options when we were at the cottage in the evenings. Loved the conservatory area where we had our meals - even when it was raining and overcast on some of the days we were there, it was lovely with plenty of natural light.

Quiet Cottage Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We loved the remoteness and quietness of the cottage after spending a day of travelling. The area is absolutely breathtaking and the walks down to the water are very soothing. The cottage itself has all the amenities that a traveller could ask for and more. The conservatory is one of those and this is where we spent our mornings having breakfast as well as our dinner. There was only my husband and I but the cottage sleeps 5 and can well accommodate that number. The owner's son was there to welcome us and showed all we needed to know from how the television worked, heating, stove etc. From the cottage it is a very short drive to the Kylemore Abbey, which is a must see when staying. The landscape in and around the area is very hard to describe with breathtaking vistas around every curve and corner. Sheep napping beside the road or up on the hillside. We would totally recommend the Thatched Cottage for a couple or family.

Beautiful Country Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was indeed a very beautiful place to stay. The cottage was very nicely appointed with everything you could possibly need. Evelyn was there the meet us when we arrived and showed us around the cottage and property. She made sure we knew where everything was and told us not to hesitate to call her if we had any problems. The location of the cottage is close to many different attractions in the area and was very easy to get around. The Connemara area is a beautiful place to spend a few days and then some! Would definitely stay here again!!

I highly recommend it and hope to be back very soon! Evelyn, also, is a lovely person who goes out of her way to help. I can't speak highly enough of her, or her gorgeous little house. <3

Terrific! Really a fun and charming place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Bridgies! Not pictured is a great second bedroom with a powder room, which was perfect for our son and niece. They were late comers on the adventure and we were concerned the place was too small for our group, but we were quite comfortable. Evelyn was lovely --friendly, warm and welcoming. We especially loved the solarium, which, even on a rainy day (we had a few), was bright and pleasant. Everything in the cottage was in perfect working order and Evelyn was super responsive with an easy fix to the one problem we had (we inadvertently turned off the power to the shower! Word to the wise: just 'cause there's pull cord hanging down in front of you doesn't mean you should yank on it)

The cottage is situated on a lovely lane, it's an easy walk to the beach and Connemara National Park is just a few miles away. If you go, check out the chowder at the Renvyle Hotel and Paddy Coynes, both excellent.

Highly recommend both the cottage and the area

Kylemore Abbey and their beautiful restored Walled Victorian Gardens is a must place to visit. They also have a very good cafeteria offering home made and mostly organic food products. You can spend hours walking the grounds and enjoy the beauty of the lake. Also a wonderful gift and craft shop. Daily Mass is celebrated in the new Catholic Church on the grounds, where all are welcome.

The National Park at Lettefrack also deserves a visit.
