Why Steve Davenport chose Eyemouth

I bought this in Eyemouth because I like being there myself. There's no real need to drive when you are there as there are just lots of interesting places to visit on the doorstep. I never get tired of visiting Scotland.

What makes this cottage unique

It is what it is, a working fishing harbour, with lots of Interesting things to see. The people are very friendly and the views from the hills over the sea are fabulous.

Excellent central location with sea views in a cosy traditional cottage

  • 5 of 5

Extremely easy and convenient check-in/check-out process and great communication from owners and Suzy.

Extremely well equipped home from home, even has some handy little extras like binoculars and a working outside toilet. Kitchen and Bathroom both modern and kitchen comes extremely well stocked with equipment and utensils if cooking in the cottage. We had takeaway each evening and a copy of menus for most is also kept in the kitchen.

Old fashioned furniture added to the authentic harbour cottage experience but property good do with a lick of paint to freshen up the decor.

Very central location on the high street with views of the sea from the living room and twin bedroom. The main bedroom looks onto the private courtyard as does the kitchen and is the perfect base for families using public transport as the stops are only minutes from the front door.

The private court yard also has a small storage space which has a washing machine, tumble dryer and loads of other useful items. Would be easier if brush and shovel were in house rather than here as we couldn't find them at first. Completely enclosed courtyard is ideal for letting younsters get more sea air while you are busy cooking etc.

First time staying in a holiday cottage and will dfinetely be back to this one. What you get for your money is great value and extra privacy not usually enjoyed with a hotel stay.

It's maybe time it had a bit painting and sprucing up but we love it garden needs done

  • 5 of 5

We have been here three years and booked for next year we love it . It does now need a bit of decor done and the garden needs new accessories as it's not changed in three years . The cottage is lovely though and I think I will book for many years . The Internet /WiFi was not connecting so that was disappointing as I took my tablet . But all in all its blooming fantastic

Dirty and run down

  • 2 of 5

Growing up in a small coastal town, I honestly expected the flat to be a little rundown so this alone wouldn't bother me. This combined with spider webs in every corner (obviously been there for quite a long time), dirty carpets, and black mold above the shower, are however unacceptable to me. With just a bit of cleaning and a very small investment in things like fixing the entryway would make this a 4 star place. I enjoyed Eyemouth, walking along the cliffs and I was appreciative of a comfy bed with clean sheets. I would stay in Eyemouth again but I doubt that it would be in this flat.

Dirty

  • 1 of 5

Property was below average. Needs a contract cleaner in to get round carpet edges, clean shower properly and get rid of dog smell.

Kitchen was grimy as was cutlery.

Blinds don't open/close properly.

Overall not welcoming.

Good Value Property In Characterful Fishing Resort

  • 4 of 5

The accommodation was a little on the basic side but the bedrooms were a good size and overall it represented good value for money. The booking procedure went smoothly. Eyemouth is a pleasant and authentic fishing resort. You can see the sea from the lounge window. Both the Berwickshire coast and the Borders region inland are beautiful and it is only one hour by car to Edinburgh.

AVOID THIS PROPERTY

  • 1 of 5

My family and myself were due to stay in this property for 4 nights

Upon entering the property the plaster is falling off quite badly at the front door and your met with a horrible smell of damp/unclean/needing badly aired

Lots of flys in the property and cobwebs everywhere!!

The master bedroom in particular was very smelly and needing a good clean

The edges of all the carpets would require lots of attention

It was so bad we had our dinner in a local cafe cause we couldn't face eating in the property and then packed up and returned back home

Two very disappointed children and the owner just doesn't seem to care about our experience!!

I can provide photos if needed!!

The only plus is the fact it's in Eyemouth which is a lovely wee quiet seaside location which we have been to on numerous times and I would recommend to anybody!!

Just plz don't go near this property
