The lodge is situated in the beautiful Tamar Valley backing onto National Trust land. If you are lucky it is possible to see deer running free in the field and buzzards flying over head. We are ideally situated on the Cornwall/Devon border which has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. Positioned within 30 acres of woodland, and with Dartmoor and Bodmin in close proximity, you could not wish for a better base in which to enjoy your holiday. It is the ideal location for a 360° tour of Cornwall and Devon. With over 300 beaches in Cornwall, you will never be more than 16 miles away from one. Make sure you visit Whitsand Bay - as seen on Cornwall with Caroline Quentin and treat yourself to a great meal at The View restaurant.

Cornwall is one of the most diverse counties in the UK, you will always find something to do and something to see. Why not come and visit the Goose fair in nearby Tavistock in October or learn about the mining heritage at nearby Morwellham Quay.

With many wonderful tourist attractions near the park, you can rest assured that you will never be at a loss for things to do. Within a short distance from the lodge is the famous pannier market town of Tavistock and bustling city of Plymouth. No visit to Cornwall is complete without taking a trip to The Eden Project or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Why not venture to the north or south coasts to explore their diverse coastlines and attractive towns? Or perhaps you would prefer to walk or cycle and take in the breathtaking scenery? From sports activities and tourist attractions to site seeing, there's something here for everyone. Robin's Nest is a good base to stay when visiting cadets at the Torpoint / Plymouth Navel academy.

The Tamar Valley is a true hidden treasure - you have to see it to love it ! With Cotehele (NT) so near - a walk along the Tamar River to Calstock is a must. If you have never seen the amazing Christmas garland at Cotehele as featured on 'The one show' then put it on your list (December).

Within walking distance of the lodge is a Donkey sanctuary with indoor playbarn. Spend the day with the donkeys and see the great work that the park do with these delightfully gentle animals, fun for adults and children alike. You can even adopt one !

Travel over the border into Devon (3 miles) and view the delights of Dartmoor, visit the sights of filming the Stephen Speilberg film WARHORSE (with locations including Haytor, Combestone Tor, Venford Reservoir, Meavy and Sheepstor)

Free WIFI available in the Manor house during opening hours.

About Robin and Dee Fry

Devon and Cornwall has always been a favourite holiday destination for us and so in 2009 we decided to buy our own little piece of it. Since we have done so we have visited the area regularly and are always amazed at how many new places we discover. Being so near to the border with Devon we have the best of both worlds while being situated in one of the most unspoilt areas of Cornwall. We have been taking cottage holidays for the past 20 years and have often found things missing, we have attempted to add those things into our holiday home for our own enjoyment and that of our guests. We hope that you will enjoy our little piece of Cornwall as much as we do.

Robin and Dee Fry purchased this house in 2014

Why Robin and Dee Fry chose Saint Ann's Chapel

Robin's Nest is a lovely property which is very adaptable for most needs. With a bathroom and separate shower room it is a perfect property for large families and 2 families travelling together. Similarly, it can be an intimate location for couples to enjoy all that the Tamar Valley has to offer. It is very well equipped for most needs and is handy for travel in all directions. If you have never stayed in the Tamar Valley now is the time to visit.

Please note - the pool will not be open on christmas day / boxing day and New Years day

What makes this house unique

We love visiting our little part of Cornwall . There is something here for everyone. We allow dogs at no extra charge (must have had their jabs please).

Enjoy a glass of wine while sitting on the sun deck enjoying the views.

*** Robin's Nest is only 25 minutes drive from Torpoint - so if you are looking for a place to stay while visitng your relatives at the Royal Naval bases of HMS Raleigh or HMS Vivid - this is the perfect choice. Also suitable for HMS Drake via the bridge / ferry. ***

Fantastic cottage

  • 5 of 5

This holiday cottage is 5*, much better than we imanged. It is in a lovely position with its own private drive. It is decorated to a high standard and is extremely clean and welcoming with comfy beds, lovely leather lounge sofas and rattan furniture on the balcony. Downstairs there are three good sized bedrooms, a shower room and a bathroom. Upstairs there is a kitchen/diner, lounge and balcony. The kitchen is very well equipped with a washing machine and dishwasher. The hot tub was the cherry on the cake and we really enjoyed using it after our long walks in the Cornish countryside. We have already recommended this place to our friends and we will defo stay again.

Perfect location to visit Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

We booked Robins Nest through the lovely Dee. The lodge is located on a small holiday park is a little Cornish village and is surrounded by trees and woodland. The park itself has both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a small gym. The lodge was very impressive. It has its own private driveway with parking for around 3 cars, and is set above the other lodges in a fairly secluded spot.

On entering the lodge the sleeping accommodation (1 x double & 2 x twins) is on the ground floor with a separate shower room and a jack & Jill bathroom which connects the double. Upstairs is a tastefully decorated lounge with two large leather sofas and a table with 6 chairs. Next to the lounge is a fully equipped kitchen with kettle, microwave, hob, cooker, fridge and freezer.

The lounge has a large television with freeview and a DVD player. To my surprise there were two boxes full of upto date DVDs which made for an enjoyable evening or two. Outside of the Lou ge is a large balcony with a table and 6 chairs, and also some nice wooden recliners which we enjoyed with a glass or two.

The main star is the hot tub which is on the veranda outside the main bedroom. This was used every day by the six of us, sometimes more than once!

I would recommend Robins Nest and would definitely stay again. You are between 45 minutes-1 hour to places like Padstow, Eden, Looe. There are local pubs within walking distance and a local convenience store 5 minutes away. There is also a small van which arrives on site with essential items, however we found a few days it didn't turn up so best not to rely on it.

Overall a great place to stay. Beds comfy and lodge fully stocked with everything we needed.

The Tamar Valley is a hidden treasure with so much to do and see. Whether you want to explore Dartmoor on horseback or try your skills in a canoe on the Tamar River, the choices are endless. The area offers so many opportunities such as golf, cycling, walking or fishing,

The nearest major town is the pannier market town of Tavistock which is the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake. Tavistock has been voted best market town in Britain. Tavistock hosts a pannier market 5 days a week. You can visit the home of Sir Francis Drake in Buckland Abbey, Yelverton.

Within walking distance of the lodge is The Donkey Park, Cornwall's only donkey sanctuary, which will entertain children and adults alike. Why not take a leisurely lunch at the 17th century Tamar Inn in Calstock, , followed by a walk through the woods to Cotehele (NT) where you can enjoy a delicious cream tea before heading back.

Whether you travel to the north or south coast Cornwall will never cease to take your breath away.

Other Activities: Canoeing, walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing

Golf: There are quite a few golf courses in the area, China Fleet at Saltash where temporary membership is available with the lodge, St Mellions is a short drive which is open to non residence or alternatively why not try Hardwick golf course which is a mile north of Tavistock, and charges £10 per round during the week and £14 during weekends (prices subject to change)

If golf is not your thing, there are so many walks, NT properties in the area, or why not try Treesurfing, fishing, steam railways, 4x4 off road driving, clay pigeon shooting, archery to name but a few.

Ski: There is a dry ski slope in Plymouth which is great fun for all the family.
