The place was lovely but the parking is not ideal.. Really really tight to get into the drive other than that absolutely lovely spot and will definitely return

Home from Home

Beautifully presented accomodation set in an ideal location. Everyone very friendly in the area.

Just be mindful that the driveway is a bit tight for vehicle access but other than that everything you need for a home from home stay. The George Washington Pub is a 2 minute stroll away and serves fantastic food and real ale. Menu is fairly small but beautifully formed! We ate their every night apart from one when they did not serve food. Locals made us very welcome. Could not ask for more and the scenery is out of this world if you are prepared to travel further afield in the Lake District. A drive through Hard Knott Pass is breathtaking but definitely not for the faint hearted!

Great cottage in great area.

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely week in The Stables in such a gorgeous area. Helpful advice and information from Ann (thanks Ann) about local sights ie Warton Crag.

Our first time in the area and there was too much to fit into the week, we also went a little further afield from Silverdale / Arnside area to Piel Island and Blackpool. Blackpool Tower was really good fabulous with amazing views and Piel Island was very interesting especially the ferry (small boat) ride over to it.

Had some nice meals out, our favourite being the New Inn at Yealand Conyers, The Albion at Arnside (although service a little slow food was lovely) and fish and chips at Arnside.

Would definitely recommend the cottage with its gorgeous bathroom and spacious bedrooms. It had everything you need and Ann of course.

Fantastic home in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

The Stables is a lovely place to spend a holiday. The house is spacious, clean and well equipped with all you could want in a base to explore. The village is quiet, but has two good pubs serving food and real ale. Locally Warton Crag is well worth the climb and a short drive away lie Silverdale (sit on the beach as the tide comes in - fantastic), Arnside and Leighton Moss RSPB reserve. The central location between Dales and Lakes makes this the perfect holiday base. We visited both national parks and went as far as Teesdale in the North Pennines AONB. I really would recommend it and we would love to return.

Convenient location in comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 8 days whilst our 3 teenage sons did a sailing course on Lake Windermere . Easy access to the Lakes as house not far off the motorway . The house was clean , tidy , spacious , quiet and warm . Anne was available when needed and quickly sorted out a problem with the dishwasher. The Peking Chinese takeaway just up the road in Carnforth was excellent and we tried the 2 pubs in the village too . Did a great walk with amazing views by Arnside and Silverdale that Anne suggested.

Great holiday rental

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five including three teenagers, thoroughly enjoyed our 3 week stay at the Stables. Anne across the street helped us check in and was very friendly. The beds were comfortable, the internet was fast (it did go out in the evening for a few minutes a couple times), the fixtures all worked well and we all felt comfortable and at home. The area was relaxing yet centrally located near the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Ideally located to enjoy the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales (and the Three Peaks), wildlife at Leighton Moss (featured in Autumn Watch) and the beautiful Morecambe Bay.

The property is set within a rural location in the village of Warton, with its connections to the George Washington family, two Public Houses, both serving real ale and home made food, and a Post Office.

There are a multitude of walks in the area including the Warton Crag, from your door, offering the most beautiful views over Morecambe Bay.

If you enjoy water sports there is water skiing, sailing, kayaking and Banana boating at Pine Lake Resort, a mere mile away.

Visit the historic County Town of Lancaster, famous for its castle and witches.

Leighton Moss, featured on the BBC programme Autumn Watch, a mere mile away, is a paradise for bird watchers.

Bring your bikes, or hire them locally, as with over 70km of traffic free cycle paths, Lancaster and Morecambe are some of the best places in the country to cycle.
