Lovely apartment recently fully refurbished to a high specification - light, airy and spacious. Such a large lounge is very unusual in a London apartment - approx 5.75 x 3.8 meters (17 x 12 ft).

Stylish, chic, modern décor and furniture, with high quality fittings throughout. Home-from-home, with supermarket literally underneath. Free WiFi. Sky Television. Climate/temperature controlled lounge, for warming up or cooling down. Walking distance from several cafés, restaurants, pubs and all forms of public transport. Safe, purpose-built block with 2 elevators and weekday concierge. Temporary gym membership available.

Situated in the "actual" City of London, on the north side of the Thames, we are literally 2 mins walk to Tower Bridge, 4 mins Tower Gateway for Docklands Light Railway, 5 mins Tower Hill tube and Tower Pier for river taxis, 5 mins Fenchurch Street Station, 5 mins Aldgate tube - and extremely handy for a range of London buses. Lovely and peaceful large secluded garden with bench seats and bushes, trees & shrubs - just 1 minute from the apartment.

No extra charges, as your rental payment includes all linen, towels, cleaning and running costs.

Normal check-in is after 16.00 hours and check-out is required by 10.00 hours, unless otherwise agreed. This is purely in order that the cleaning and preparation of the apartment is not jeopardised for the next guest. At less busy times we can and will be more flexible.

We, or our representative, will 'meet & greet' you on arrival, and will give you keys and information on the apartment and the area, attuned to you personally, with the intention of you getting the best from your London visit.

The apartment is very handy for cafés, pubs and restaurants and has many in close proximity. There is a Tesco supermarket underneath the block, just round the corner, and an ATM cash point. There is also a Sainsbury supermarket within 100 yards. These supermarkets are open 7 days a week from early morning until 9pm or 10pm – slightly earlier close on Sundays.

The London public transport scene is terrific these days, and it is probably a good idea to purchase a Travel Card, which will offer unlimited travel on buses, tubes and the Docklands Light Railway, plus discounts on the Emirates cable car and Thames river buses. A Travel Card can be purchased, in advance of your visit, for varying lengths of time – through the Transport for London website. If you do not have time for it to be mailed to you, it can be sent to the apartment address, where we will hold it for your visit.

It is a great apartment, in a very convenient part of London. Getting around couldn't be easier as we are so close to all means of transport - and London public transport these days is really fabulous. There are lots of restaurants, bistros, coffee shops and old-fashioned English pubs nearby. Grocery store, ATM cash machine and Gym are underneath the block.

Don't Miss It

We are an American professional couple in our mid 60's and have traveled extensively in Europe and rented apartments. Without a doubt, this is our favorite. I reviewed over fifty apartments before reserving this one. It is clean, bright, comfortable and air-conditioned (a rarity in London and welcome during the heat wave that occurred while we were there) with a queen size very comfortable bed, doorman and security locks, absolutely quiet, new appliances (frig, dishwasher, clothes washer, stove and oven with everything you could possibly desire in the way of kitchen utensils and pots, plans and plates) and elevator within 2 blocks of three different tube entrances - we could go on and on. Very safe neighborhood, close to food stores. Although not a luxury apartment it is very high end. Straight forward , accurate photography (the bed room is great with more storage closets than you could possibly use although there is no picture in the ad). Do not buy any London guides either - there are a dozen or more. The host Bonnie and Carol her manager: you could not find nicer, more caring people. We had a health crisis and their kindness, caring and generosity are without equal; the help they gave to us was far beyond any that could ever be expected. More than just thankful, we are grateful to them for the help they gave to us who were after all just strangers.

Location + Unit + Management = Great Choice

Three factors determine the quality of any vacation rental: location: the unit itself, and management. This unit gets top grades for all three.

Location: The flat is well located very near the Tower of London and the upscale St. Katherine Docks area. There are three underground stations, a Dockyards Light Rail station (to Canary Warf and the rest of that trendy area) , and several good bus stops (RV1 to Covent Gardens, #15 to Trafalgar Square) also near by. There is a small food/sundries market and ATM machine 100 ft. aways around the near corner, a Starbucks at the far corner, and some pubs and restaurants (try the Cafe Spice Namaste) within a few minutes walk. In sum, a fine location.

The Apartment: It is first rate. It is plenty large for two. It was sparklingly clean. The sofa and chair are comfy, there is a good size dining table and 4 chairs. The bath has a tub for both showering and soaking, The kitchen is very well equipped and also includes a clothes washer. There isn't a dryer, but drying racks are available. They dried things nicely within 24 hours and some cases overnight. There are many small, but nice touches such as a supply of small bottles of shampoo and body wash. The flat is on the fourth floor of a very secure unit in what felt like a safe area. We walked around several evenings without any qualms. In addition to being four flours up, the quiet of the unit is enhanced by facing a largely unused parking lot along a side street. The nights passed without most of the the normal urban noise of central cities. We also heard nothing from our neighbors.

The Management: The owner, Bonnie, was exceptionally accommodating. She was flexible regarding both our arrival and departure times. She supplied a wealth of valuable information before we arrived. When we arrived, we were met by by Carol, the immediate caretaker, who explained all the details of the television, the keys, etc. There was also complete book of instructions for everything in the unit and an lots of tourist pamphlets and books. We had both Bonnie and Carol's contact info just in case we had a need or question. Further, there is an individual who mans a desk in the lobby and keeps the halls, etc. clean during weekday business hours. He helped us with directions and some other questions.

In sum, it is a fine flat in a great location that is exceptionally and accommodatingly managed. You can't miss by staying here.

great little flat in a convenient part of town

We had a wonderful experience at this property. The owners were amazing. They were so helpful in many ways. They thoughtfully left a binder with all the information we needed to work the appliances in the flat. The book was detailed as answered every question we had. The flat itself contained everything we needed except perishable food items but there are 2 markets within a block or 2 so it was no problem. We only had 2 issues which caused a minor problem. The wifi was spotty because the router kept cutting in and out. This might have been due to heavy usage in the building or the router itself. the second was the heat. Unfortunately, the UK was and is suffering under a heatwave and the a/c was not up to the job of keeping the flat cool. With less heat outside the unit probably is ok. Overall it was an excellent experience. Kudos to the owners for making our 50th anniversary one to remember!

Fantastic stay at Marlyn Lodge

My husband and I loved our stay at Marlyn Lodge. The location is excellent, between the Tower Hill and Aldgate tube stations. The flat is spacious and well appointed, and the check in and out smooth and seamless. I highly recommend this property, and we hope to stay here again!

The apartment in this very secure elevator building was so comfortable and well-equipped—lots of storage and supplies! We loved the area—very convenient to tube, light rail and bus, yet quiet and peaceful! The grocery and ATM downstairs and Goodman’s Field family-friendly pub across the street with extensive menu were a big plus. Many other restaurants close by. An added bonus: Owner Bonnie and manager Carole were terrific—couldn't have been more helpful! We’re planning to return soon!

Great location, safe and comfortable.

My teenage daughter and I stayed here for 5 nights and we loved it. You have a key card to get in and out of the building and it's great to have that added safety especially being a mother traveling with her daughter. It's an easy walk to Tower Bridge tube station, Tower of London, Tower Bridge and you can reach many other sites very easily. Very safe to walk around the area at night too. There is a Tesco around the corner which is very convenient and they have everything you need. The apartment is very clean and has everything you could need while on vacation. If you want to cook there are plenty of kitchen supplies to do so. There is a washer but no dryer, but there are a couple of drying racks available in the apartment. The bed is really soft and I don't usually sleep well on a soft bed, but we both slept like babies in it. There is also lots of storage in the bedroom for all your luggage. There are umbrella's, a sewing kit, guide books and just about anything you could think of. These small touches make all the difference and are greatly appreciated. Bonnie(host) provided alot of advice before our stay and even offered to have a driver pick us up if we wanted. It's about and hour away if you take the tube from Heathrow airport. Carol (manager-she meets you at the apartment) was very kind and helpful during our stay. She can answer any questions or concerns you might have. I cannot say enough good things about this place and Bonnie and Carol. I recommend this to everyone and will definitely stay here again if we ever get back to London. Book it, you won't be disappointed.

Car: not necessary

Fabulous location near the DLR at Tower Hill, Very short walk to various tube lines, numerous buses, Thames river buses. Just a couple of minutes walk to Tower Bridge, St Katharine's Dock, national rail at Fenchurch Street and Liverpool Street, buses and tubes to all parts of Central London, including Borough Market, St Paul's, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Theatre land, Leadenhall Market, Spitalfields Market. RV1 bus directly to the Globe, South bank, London Eye, shopping in Oxford Street, Regent Street etc. Grocery store underneath the block plus ATM cash machine. Temporary Gym membership available in the building. Within a couple of minutes you can be standing on Tower Bridge, or crossing it on foot to the south side of the Thames by City Hall and HMS Belfast, Hays Galleria and London Bridge.
