Château Fengari, also known as Château de Clerac or l'Espie, is just 30 mins north of Bordeaux, in the village of Clérac. It's the ideal get-away for those who want to experience the rich flavors of this extraordinary region - from the Cognacs of the North, to the Bordeaux & St. Emilions of the South; from foie gras in the East to the seafood of the West. It is set in 22 acres of woods and fields, and has its own (private) salt water pool. Rooms are available at Chateau Fengari. We can accommodate up to 20 people comfortably - a few more if required. All rooms are large, airy and comfortable and the chateau itself is very child-friendly. Pets are also welcome provided they are calm and well behaved.

Clérac is a small, pretty rural village with some 400 inhabitants. All around Clérac there are some great cycle paths and forest walks. In Montguyon (~5km), originally a fortified castle town (still with a medieval castle) there are banks, chemists, various shops and supermarkets. Horse Riding, wine & Pineau tasting are also close. The region is famous for its food and wine. Restaurants abound, and Bordeaux, St Emilion and Libourne (home of Pomerol) are ~30mins away, while Blaye is closer at ~20mins. Cognac too is only ~45 mins away. We also offer cooked meals and wine tasting classes at the chateau. There are many scenic villages/towns nearby and lots of activities for kids - lakes, adventure park at Jonzac, one of France's largest zoos at Royan. The largest sand dune is Europe is at Arcachon together with a water park (~1hr away). Prehistoric caves & archaeological sites in the Dordogne are also ~ 1hr from the Chateau.
