Luxurious stay in amazing surroundings!

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely amazing! We enjoyed three days in beautiful Porthallow.

The flat is spacious, lovely and it has everything that you would need while you stay there. We enjoyed the amazing view from the terrace. It is the perfect place to relax in calm and beautiful surroundings!

David made us feel very welcome and is very helpful with everything. We recommend this place highly. If you choose to stay here, treat yourself to a meal at the local pub, the food there is absolutely phenomenal. A trip to Falmouth is also recommended.

Thanks again David, we couldn't have asked for more!

Fabulous. Peaceful. Away from it all.

  • 5 of 5

The property was small but big enough to not to be cramped. The owner left a supply of coffee, tea bags and milk which was a fabulous welcome especially as we got in very late after a 7 hour drive. The instructions on how to get to the flat was really helpful even though we arrived in the dark.

The flat was well equipped and clean and we didn't have any issues at all.

The balcony was large and seating comfortable. It got the morning sun so we sat out every morning to eat breakfast.

The village is small but has a great pub called the 5 Pilchards which served really good food but you would be advised to book in high season.

All in all a fabulous place to stay and we would highly recommend it.

Thanks David it was fabulous.

Brilliant home from home, in a pituresque location.

  • 5 of 5

Cornwall has been a favourite place to holiday for the last few years, this year was as expected, peaceful & restful with plenty of scenic locations including Penzance, St Ives, Falmouth and many coastal locations too many to mention.

wonderful holidays

  • 5 of 5

Dear David, we would like to thank you very much for your hospitality. We really like The village very much! It is so small , with the only one pub - very friendly - if you can name the pub in a such way:) Prala is the best place place to relax, very quiet and peaceful. It was worth it to overcome daily narrow English roads. So we hope to come back someday!

Great base to explore terfect holiday destination

  • 4 of 5

This was our first holiday in Cornwall as a family and it exceeded our expectations. Arguably that was helped by the fact that we had near perfect weather for the week we were there, but Porthallow and the Bay View apartment itself were a great location to explore the Lizard Peninsula and beyond. The accommodation was a good size for us (family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 boys age 9 and 11). Having the balcony was like having an extension to the living space and allowed us to spread out a bit. The shared garden was brilliant for the kids to escape to and we never saw another person in it for the whole week, so it was like having a large private garden. Initially I thought that not having a washing machine in the apartment would bother me but the communal laundry room was a perfect compromise and we used it a few times and again, never saw another soul in there using it! The welcome gift of a bottle of fizz was VERY welcome and the biscuits, milk, tea and coffee were a lovely touch. Having wi-fi was great as it allowed us to plan our trips each day. Porthallow itself is a lovely location, we particularly liked The Five Pilchards pub where we were made to feel very welcome and we were really impressed with the food. Vegetarian food is usually hard to come by or predictable but the menu was really lovely for a family with one vegetarian, 2 fish-lovers and a meat-lover. We all found different things to try on the occasions we had dinner there. We tried to vary our days out but ended up going to Kynance Cove twice as it was so beautiful. We enjoyed the cliff-top walk from Lizard lighthouse to Cadgwith which was quite challenging at times but arriving in beautiful Cadgwith was worth it. We loved our time in Porthallow and have fallen in love with Cornwall so will definitely be returning. Rather stupidly we left some of our children's clothes in one of the wardrobes at the property when we left but David phoned us as soon as he found them that morning and had them posted to us immediately which was a relief...so customer service was certainly good! As an apartment Bay View was clean and comfortable. The only downside I would mention, and it's not a major thing, but there is a distinctive damp smell in the apartment, particularly in some of the kitchen cupboards and I found it a little off-putting so we didn't put all of our food in the cupboards. But I would thoroughly recommend Bay View, it's a lovely holiday home set in a beautiful village with great views.
