Steve and Elaine bought the farm in 2006 - Steve is a builder and he converted the cottages to a very high standard between 2009-2015. Elaine planned the interior design and runs the cottages. We live on the farm and are on hand to greet new guests and help if needed.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We booked 3 of these cottages for our daughter's wedding so that we could house all the bridesmaids and most of the bride's relatives for a week. This worked out wonderfully because the largest cottage featured an open plan sitting and dining area and kitchen where we could all mix and match.

The best feature of these cottages are the fixtures and fittings which are of high class and quality. Beds are comfortable and entertainment is on tap with large screen TVs and an extensive paperback library in each cottage. Cooking and washing is catered for in the fully equipped kitchens. Bathrooms up and down matched the bedrooms - almost as good as en-suite really. Each cottage has a private outside courtyard for dining or relaxing in the sun. Lovely.

For me, being tall, the only downside was the restricted headroom to the sides of some of the bedrooms which have sloped down from the roof. You may also notice a bit of traffic noise if you spend a lot of time outside the front of the cottages.

Overall it's difficult to fault these cottages as places to stay to explore this part of Yorkshire. Highly recommended.

Ticked all the boxes

  • 5 of 5

We only stayed for a couple of nights at The Stables which we wish we could have stayed longer! We were able to take our dogs & having an enclosed courtyard for them was excellent also with several excellent dog walks very close by.

The cottage was extremely clean & provided us with everything you could possibly need along with some very nice extra treats!

We will definitely be re visiting as soon as possible & would undoubtedly recommend to everyone.

Fabulous stay again at Broadgate Farm

  • 5 of 5

This was the third year in a row that we stayed at Broadgate Farm Cottages, Once in the Granary and twice in The Barn Cottage.

The cottage, as we have experienced below was spotlessly clean, well equipped with the highest standard of equipment, linen and soft furnishings. It was great to return and we received a very warm welcome from Elaine(the owner). We always know that if we needed anything, Elaine or Steve are always available and willing to assist.

The beds are so comfortable, it a real struggle to get up in the morning, but as we had so much planned to see and do, we had to make a real effort!

Travelled on the North York Steam Railway from Pickering to Whitby. Visited the Nuclear Bunker ( well worth a visit) at Withernsea, Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Terrace.Highlight of the week was a day at Beverley Races with a meal in the Attraction Restaurant.

Great meals at the Ferguson Fawcett in the nearby village(within walking distance) of Walkington.

Just perfect

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Stables, Broadgate Farm Cottages, from August 25th -30th 2016. Everything about the cottage was perfect, beautifully furnished and with every home comfort. There is a private courtyard garden with lovely flower beds.

My husband is seriously disabled and uses a wheelchair but the ground floor bedroom with adjoining wet room were ideal for his needs. Both bathrooms were of the highest specification.

Two years ago we stayed in a larger cottage, the Granary, and that was perfect too.
