We have lived in Mousehole for over 5 years and fell in love with the house due to the amazing views. We previously offered Bed & breakfast but have now refurbished the annexe to provide a private self catering element.

Lovely annexe, superb location

  • 5 of 5

This lovely, high quality annexe is very comfortable throughout, practical and beautifully clean, with a comfortable bed & bedding, good kitchen area, etc. The view from the lounge french windows (& the immediate fresh sea air on opening them) is such a pleasure to see on opening the curtains in the mornings (and it's sunny on the patio & garden when the sun's out), looking out over the garden to the sea which constantly changes according to the weather - with St Michael's Mount even near enough to see whether the waves are crashing on to it or whether they're calm!

The annexe's situation is ideal for walking too (free parking at the house and on the road), with easy and interesting walks directly from the front door down to the seaside footpath, either turning right onto the coastal path a short walk to the characterful village/harbour of Mousehole & beyond, or turning left to the equally interesting village/harbour of Newlyn, and then on to the larger port of Penzance. There are also bus routes round about, with bus stops with maps and timetables not far from the annexe.

The location is also excellent for exploring many other good parts of Cornwall by car, as it's like being at the focal point of a radius of possible destinations, so none of them very far off (look at a map to see what I mean). I'd recommend the clifftop walk from Lizard Point (with café) to Kynance Cove and back; Porthleven; Cadgwith; Gweek's Cornish Seal Sanctuary; Marazion for St Micheal's Mount (depending on the opening hours of the Mount, and the tides), the amazingly beautiful turquoise sea at Porthcurno beach & especially when viewed from the high up adjacent Minack Theatre; St Ives, etc, etc!

Brilliant apartment in the perfection location to tour Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough positives about White Cottage Annex. The pictures on the website, though accurate to a T do not do justice to this magical location.

The apartment is perched on a hillside on a quiet & secluded street overlooking the bottom of the English Channel with sweeping vistas to the Lizard Peninsula & St. Michaels Mount. Breathtaking to wake up to or watch the lights come on across to Penzance. There are two garden areas to enjoy, one of which is private for the apartment.

The apartment itself is very clean & modern with every convenience you could need for a short or long stay. The bathroom is very well appointed with a big tub & two shower systems, the bedroom large and the living room has French doors which can be fully opened if the weather is right.

In the living room there is comfortable lounge seating for 3 or 4, a fully equipped kitchen including hob, washing machine & dishwasher and a good sized apartment refrigerator. All the dishes, glasses & flatware as well as cooking items you'll need are here.

They say location is the thing and this spot has it! It's within a 30 minute drive to just about everywhere in west Cornwall. There is also a public bus stop nearby if you aren't driving. The best part is that it's a fairly flat, quick walk (about 1K) into the lovely fishing village of Mousehole with its harbor, quaint shops & restaurants.

Joan made us feel welcome from the moment we met her & offered to give us ideas of how & what to visit in the area including St. Michaels Mount, stunning Cape Cornwall, & St. Ives. Word of caution - don't drive to St. Ives. The streets are wickedly narrow, very crowded with tourists & parking is hard to get.

Thank you to the Abbotts for offering such a wonderful retreat in Cornwall. Our highest praise is to say that we could have stayed on for days longer!

It was lovely to have small extras such as dishwasher tablets, salt and pepper, toilet rolls.

A perfect stay for a couple

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for 10 very enjoyable days. The wonderful view was just as shown online but there was more than the view to enjoy, the property was very clean, modern, tastefully furnished and very well equipped. If like me you enjoy cooking you will find everything you need in the kitchen. There is a lot to do and see in the area especially if you like walking. Joan was very helpful and friendly so making the booking arrangements were very easy. I highly recommend this property for any couple wanting to visit Cornwall.
