Amazing, wow, this is great, were just some of the comments my kids and I had when we showed up at Helen's apartment.I am a single mom with two teen age children and the thought of the 3 of us jammed into one hotel room was not a welcoming thought. I was very skeptic about booking a place online, unseen, that no one had ever heard of. But there were plenty of reviews(all good) so I took a chance and I am sooo glad I did! The apartment is tucked away on a quiet street(yet very accessible to all the hot spots) and absolutely adorable. She spoils you with treats on the table for your arrival, there is cable tv, wi fi,(made kids happy) and very comfortable accomadations with an awesome outside area to sit and relax with your morning coffee. I definitely will stay here again when back in the LA area. Book it, you wont regret it!
This was our second stay in one of Helen's properties, and it was just as nice as expected. The duplex is private in a quiet neighborhood, yet close to many sites. Helen always thinks of everything, down to a ruler at the desk and dryer sheets for the laundry! The private garden and fountains add to the relaxing ambiance created with fresh flowers and tranquil decor.
We drove down for a 3 day birthday celebration. Family lives nearby and we had everyone over for dinner twice. We brought our old golden retriever rescue dog as well and the grandchildren loved throwing the ball to him outside. Despite the horrible heat (102), we were comfortable and everything went smoothly. Helen's rental homes are homey, attractively furnished and well outfitted with everything one could need (this is the third in which we have stayed) and the fruit basket is an extra treat. The living/dining area was roomy when all 8 of us were there and at night we two slept well thanks to the quiet neighborhood, the comfortable kind sized bed, and the central air-conditioning. Having off the street parking is a bonus as is the enclosed private yard. Everything feels very secure and safe as well - I wouldn't hesitate to come on my own. We highly recommend this rental and know that we will be looking forward to coming back.
I have stayed in the downstairs apartment of this duplex twice, most recently in March this year. It's hard to believe such a peaceful place can exist so close to Studio City and busy Laurel Canyon! Private parking is a few steps from the front door. You enter through a lockable gate to a fabulous green garden, and it's level access all the way to your front door. The bedroom is big -- huge closet! -- and there's an area to one side which is equipped for an office area if you need one. The living room is charming and has a sofabed. There are two bathrooms, both with good showers. Can't fault the linens and other details. The kitchen had had everything I needed, though I didn't try to cook anything too complicated - seemed to have plenty of equipment including the all-important electric kettle for those of us who make tea.
But I value most that I look forward so much to going back there after a busy, intense LA day , opening the double doors to the garden and just unwinding. In the morning, the sun comes up over the garden, and you can do your morning email in sunlight to the sound of birdsong. I think I could live there permanently! There are no steps between the parking, garden or any area of this apartment, which is great if someone is cautious about mobility issues. Looking forward to returning next year, with my husband.
(This is a copy of my trip advisor review done in April - thought it should be here too!)
Wonderful place to stay; you feel at home right away. Immaculate. Many many small touches to make you feel at home: condiments and spices, even toiletries. The special little touches: bird feeders in back yard make this a delightful and comfortable place to stay. Backyard is delightful. Helen does a great job.
We drove from the East Coast with our dog to visit family in the area and we couldn't have found a better home base for our stay. We rented the downstairs apartment which is charming, comfortable and well-stocked with any basic provision you can think of. The yard is beautiful, fenced and private. We were ready to move in and will definitely book it when we visit again. A true gem.
