Alex was really great and very responsive. No problems with getting in the house. The house isn't particularly nice, but its functional. Forewarning that you do have to clean everything up, including changing the bed sheets. This was okay for us because Alex didn't charge extra for a cleaning fee and let us know a few days ahead of time. Thanks Alex!
I appreciate any and all feedback.I have structured this home to be the least expensive 2 bedroom of all my offerings up there(and of all 2 bedroom houses in the Catskills overall)and want to save my guests the $40+ it would costs for even a local independant cleaning person.I also offer one night stays at this location so am guessing that kind of a charge on top would be significant.Nonetheless I may offer the charge in lieu of prepping on one's for the guests that would rather pay the fee.I did minimal updates on this preserved 30's house but am getting ready to open up the modular house in the back as well which will have more modern features.Much thanks again for your stay and responsiveness
cute home with lots of potential in a great area!
Was a really cute home in a wonderful area! Ashokan Reservoir is beautiful and within walking distance, we visited every night.a few of the falls were less than a half hour away, some more appropriate for families others for more serious hikers ! Home was cozy and private and close to stores and convenience shops, we loved having a kitchen ! We wish it had a place to start a little fire pit at night or some more chairs and lighting near the gazebo... since there was no TV(wifi available though) we were trying to do more outdoorsy stuff at night, but there was really nowhere to do so. Owner is going for the old countrytime vibe, so you’ll be responsible for cleaning and having everything ready for the next guest. The place definitely has a lot of potential and is up and coming. In addition, the owner seems very attentive and readily open to suggestions from new guests and I could easily see this turning into a very popular vacation rental , especially at the great, low price !
As advertised this is a quiet respite from the city at the lowest cost for a renovated 2 bedroom in the prime Catskills. There was nothing advertised in the listing regarding TV or late night outdoor activities on the property yet the abundance of natural features and activities in the area I did carefully list on your house guide. This is a picturesque throwback village that enjoys the peace of old which the vast majority of my guests crave.Regarding leaving the house clean as you found it has nothing to do with vibe or the country but rather again about saving the guests money. My other rentals of the same size charge minimum $40-$50 cleaning fee which would make it cost prohibitive for many of the guests I want to make this available to(especially for just a 1-2 night stay). I do twice weekly cleaning myself when there are no guests and provide ample fresh linens/towels.Should visitors want cleaning and outdoorsy stuff to do at night those guests should stay in pricey KIngston or Woodstock where that vibe can be found.
