Belle propriété

  • 3 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Ciutat, as they call the Mallorcan, presents stunning since one approaches the port. Decorated yachts, palm trees and the Cathedral in the background, provides an even more impressive magical view if possible early in the morning. In Palma live almost half of the inhabitants of the island. The city extends as a strip of 15 km. Parallel to the sea. Abarcandola his eyes we see the lovely succession of rooftops dotted with monuments where history and modernity unite with the green and the Mediterranean in perfect harmony. Although at first glance gives the impression of being a much smaller town, the possibilities Palma offers are the cities tenfold. There are many places of interest to visit, list what you should not miss:

The Cathedral

Call Seo by Mallorcan, is perhaps the most distinctive sign of Palma. Built between the s. XIV and XIX had the honor of having to rebuild the creative talent of Gaudi who was charged inside it. The result is fascinating and original can not be easily described. The Puerta del Mirador, which opens a stone wall towards the sea. It was designed by the famous architect Guillen Sagrera, architect also of the Exchange. Inside are the Royal Chapel, Trinity Chapel and the Cathedral Museum, which houses a wealth of Baroque works, among others.

The Almudaina

The Royal Palace, which was built on the defunct Muslim Alcázar and was the residence of the first Majorcan kings.

La Lonja

It is perhaps one of the most beautiful examples of Gothic civil architecture in the Mediterranean area. Today it houses the Museum of Fine Arts. It was built by Guillem Sagrera endowed him with a fantastic interior and a beautiful facade.

Consulate of the Sea

Located near the former is now the headquarters of the Balearic autonomous government. Inside encloses a beautiful gallery of Renaissance style, the s. XVII.

Paseo del Borne

Hub and heart of Old Town, is one of the busiest streets in town. In this walk, both the right and the left merge medieval streets adorned with palaces and elegant homes of the nineteenth century. The many palaces of the s. XVII and XVIII that has Palma is perhaps one of the most attractive aspects of your sightseeing. In his nobility and wealth Italian influence is evident, important feature of the city of Palma

The section between the Cathedral and the Plaza de Cort

Back to offer beautiful palaces like Colom, that of Villalonga, Oleo, Truyols and the Oleza also nearby find the Archbishop's Palace, the Church of San Francisco and the Arab Baths, the latter can be counted among the few remains what was the city during the period of Muslim rule.

In the Plaza de Cort

We found the town hall with its beautiful facade of s. XVII and its characteristic and original roof. Nearby, worth visiting the Church of Santa Catalina, in Gothic style.

The Puig de San Pere

Nestled on the other side of Paseo del Borne, behind the Lonja, is another old quarter of the city. It highlights the Church of Santa Cruz, built in the s. XIV over a crypt of s. XIII; Weyler House, the Bellotto House and the Palace of Montenegro.

For around the Plaza Mayor

The Rambla and Avenida de Jaime III, two important very busy shopping streets are. In this area highlight the Berga House, with its impressive Baroque balcony, now a Provincial Court and Union Street, which in ancient times was the center of the guilds.

Bellver Castle

It can be considered the culmination of such monumental city. It is located on the outskirts of the historic center. It was built by Peré Salvá on a hill overlooking an extraordinary panorama. This defensive fortress presents such a large Gothic elegance unmatched in its forms, something rare in a defensive fortress, yet without losing functionality for which it was built. It houses a museum with a valuable collection of classic pieces.

We begin with the capital, Palma de Mallorca, making a beautiful tour of the Bay of Palma. As it is only about 16 Km. From the port to El Arenal, we recommend doing a bike, a road along the coast, we were in store for the pleasure of slow tasting the beaches of El Portixol, El Molinar, Coll d'en Rabassa and Can Pastilla to finish in Arenal. To return recommend taking the same path. In the same bay of Palma, are other beautiful sites worth visiting, such as Illetas, a bay about 75 m. extension with beautiful pine trees that caress a coastline of fine sand, or Santa Ponsa, beautiful sandy beaches and clear waters.
