Casa das Palmeiras is the place to relax and get away from it all. Have breakfast on the front terrace, enjoy the sun by the pool or read in the shade. The villa is a bright modern 3-bedroom villa, which sleeps 6 adults (plus bed-settee for 2 small children) and has a private swimming pool, front and rear terraces with BBQ and lovely landscaped gardens on a large corner plot. There is an annexe available, at extra cost, with a fourth bedroom with a double bed and its own shower and toilet. The pool is cleaned by an ioniser method, not the usual chlorine based system, making the water lovely to swim in. The villa has a fully equipped modern kitchen, with gas/electric cooker, microwave oven, dishwasher, coffee-maker and US-style fridge-freezer and a large well-furnished lounge/dining room with gas fire and satellite TV. The main bedroom, overlooking the pool, has an en-suite bathroom and the remaining two bedrooms are both double bedrooms which have the use of a second bathroom.
The villa is situated in Vale da Telha within the beautiful Costa Vicentina National Park. The coast along this part of Portugal is stunning with rugged cliffs and wide sandy beaches and, because it is within the National Park, has not been spoilt with holiday developments and hotels. Just minutes drive for the villa are the beautiful un-crowded sandy beaches of Monte Clerigo, Arrifana, Amoreira and Bordeira all of which offer swimming, surfing, fishing and sunbathing. The villa is a short 10 minute drive from the picturesque country town of Aljezur with its Moorish fort and many restaurants. Even closer are restaurants and cafes in Vale da Telha itself and at Monte Clerigo and Arrifana. The Costa Vicentina National Park is ideal for cliff-top and inland walks and horse riding is also available in the area.
The villa is approximately 90 minutes easy drive from Faro airport and within easy reach of the rest of the central and western Algarve. Lagos is 30 minutes away and has a wonderful marina and restaurants while the old town is always buzzing with its many fine restaurants, bars, shops and night life. Golf courses and water parks are within easy reach by car. Alternatively, why not head for Monchique, high up in the hills, for fantastic views across the whole of the Algarve.
We had a great fortnight in lovely Aljezur. The villa was a good size for the 4 of us, with an OK sized pool however was not well appointed. There was no wi-fi, the TV took 30 minutes to warm up with only local TV stations to watch. The master bedroom had 2 single beds pushed together and the pool made us all green! The sun loungers were mostly broken and a distinct lack of glassware. Overall the villa was as promised but nothing more. We will definitely explore this part of Portugal again but will not be back to this villa.
The location was perfect for us. Lots of lovely walks, spectacular scenery and quiet sandy beaches – the nearest one, Monte Clerigo, just a 5 minute drive away. We enjoyed an evening stroll on a different beach each day, followed by a cold beer in one of the little bars, listening to the waves and watching the sun go down.
The villa itself is fabulous - spacious and modern, perfectly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. Mostly, we made use of the lovely kitchen to cook at home, but there are plenty of restaurants close by, if that’s your preference. The outdoor space is beautiful and there’s a covered terrace where we barbecued fresh fish bought in Aljezur’s market. The large pool is bathed in sun all day long and we had a swim each afternoon. In the late evenings we mostly flopped and enjoyed the comfort of the two large sofas (one each) in the lounge!
Thank you to Heidi and Dic who showed us around and were amazingly helpful when we couldn’t work out where the outside light switch was!
The villa really has everything you need for a great holiday. Highly recommended and we will definitely be going back.
We spent 1 wonderful week in the house in Aljezur. The house is very clean, well equiped, conform to the description. We were 4 and we appreciated the 3 bedrooms (especially the parents room with its own bedroom) . The neighborhood was very very quiet . We also enjoyed the beaches that are very close (a car is defintely needed)
Thank you Waldemar for this great week
