Beautiful, one-of-a-kind 80m2 apartment for two people in chalet Saphir, Centrally located 5 minutes from Mannlichen gondola and Grund train station, and 8 minutes to the center of village. The original 3 1/2 room builing plan has been modified into one oversize bedroom and living room integrated with the hallway, dining area and kitchen. From the 30m2 wrap around terrace one has a panoramic unobstructed view from Mannlichen, Kleine Scheidegg, through the imposing North wall of Eiger, to the vertical precipices of Wetterhorn. the chalet has a southern exposure and stands on a steep meadow which blooms in June with all kinds of alpine flowers. It stands at the end of a short private street with heated driveway in winter leading to the under ground parking. An elevator brings you and your luggage to the door. On the way you will see a large staircase, ski room and spacious laundry room.
The apartment is tastefully decorated and furnished with new England colonial style furniture featuring leather sofa and love seat, thick hand made zebra carpet from Tibet and a high pillow-top king size mattress (200x200cm). Modern and well appointed kitchen, granite countertop, oven, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee macine, TV/Radio/CD, DVD, Internet connection.
Rental on a weekly basis (Saturday to Saturday). Bed linen and towels, laundry, garage and final cleaning of the apartment is included in the rental price. Non smoking only, pets not allowed.
This was our first stay at chalet Saphir and we will certainly be staying there again if visiting Grindelwald. The apartment was spacious, cosy and well-equipped, with a very comfortable bed. The views from the large balcony were spectacular. It was just a 10-minute walk to the station and restaurants in the village, and local buses stopped right outside the chalet. Diarmuid, the property manager, was very attentive throughout. We thoroughly recommend this property.
We enjoyed a nice week in the apartment and love to come back again. Very friendly welcome by the manager, apartment is very spacious for 2 people and well equipped (kitchen, WiFi, parking and ski room in the same building). Bus station close by and by foot you reach the city center in 10-15 minutes. Great view to the mountains from the living room and for us a relaxing start into the year.
This was a nice and large apartment. My husband and I have been traveling Europe for three months and it was very nice to have such a large place. The laundry was wonderful to have. The location was good, we decided to just drive down to the train station instead of dealing with the bus. The bus runs just once and hour and we liked to have more freedom. The underground parking was safe and secure. I would recomment this apartment.
As a one bedroom apartment it's really spacious. A lovely big bed and bedroom and a lovely open plan living/kitchen/dining area. Care has been taken to fully equip the kitchen with everything you would need. Only a short walk from the centre of town it combines convenience yet solitude and silence at night. A huge balcony provides great views across the valley. We would definitely return again in either summer or winter. The only addition I would suggest would be a bath stead of a shower for tired skiers legs
We were here for the third time.
We make several walks through the mountains. With the bus, train and car we discovered the region. We have visisted Thun ans Interlaken.
From the apartment there is splendid view on the Eiger.
The manager gave us good advice about some new trips.
The apartment is well-maitained and has several facilities.
We hope to come back next year.
It is the third time that we stayed in Saphir. So that means we like the place Grindelwald and the appartment Saphir. From Sahir it gives us a beatifull view on the EIger and the trains are coming up and down the kleine Scheidegg.
The appartment has character and well-maintained: see the photos.
In the beatifull neibourhood there are many possibilities to walk, to cycles, to climb and so on. We did it by bus, train and car and after that most walking.
The manager has given us good advice about some trips and walks in th neigbourhood.
We have been 3 times we hope to come next year.

There is a safety deposit of CHF500 required on payment of balance. This is returnable within 2 weeks of departure subject to the apartment being left in good condition.
There is a local tourism tax of Chf4.20 per adult per night/Chf3.20 per 12-16 year old per night.
This is not included in the rental rate, but is paid on arrival in cash.
