About Christelle and Flavien Hollier-Larousse
We are married, we have 4 children from 8 to 16 years old and we live in Paris
Christelle and Flavien Hollier-Larousse purchased this Apartment in 1950
Why Christelle and Flavien Hollier-Larousse chose Alpes-Maritimes
My grandparents bought this apartment in the 1950s and shared their retirement lifestyle between Paris and Menton. This family apartment is particularly important for us and we want to share it with people who will respect this place. The residence is small (8 apartments) with people who live here all year round. It is international as there are French, Italian and English inhabitants in it. The apartment has been recently renovated (painting, double glazing, shutters, etc.) and we plan to renovate the bathroom at the end of 2015. I come in Menton for holidays since I was a baby and this is also the case for my 4 children. They learned to swim and to sail an Optimist and a catamaran. They also have some scuba diving experiences. Menton is a mountain that plunges into the sea and that is what I particularly love. Loving Menton is loving to walk along the seafront by day and dive into the water at 26° by night in summer, have a stroll in the old town, wander in the many wonderful gardens and smell the scent of lemon and orange trees but also discover the jewels of its hinterlands and dare to go further, to the Mercantour Park. Menton is lively all year round: the mildness of autumn extends, Christmas festivities, the Lemon Festival in February (at the same time as the carnival of Nice) and the beautiful days of spring and then, in summer, the water activities, the famous Classical Music Festival, its long nights, etc.
What makes this Apartment unique
This apartment boasts of stunning views of the sea and the port. It also has wonderful views of the mountain, particularly when you read in the master bedroom. It has huge rooms with nice volumes thanks to the high ceiling. It stays cool in summer thanks to its volumes, its thick outdoor walls and the South, North and West-exposed windows. You will be seduced as soon as you will glimpse the residence in the middle of the modern neighbouring buildings. It is very well located and you can do everything on foot, by bus, by train, etc. The area of Garavan is around 15 minutes on foot from the old town and has its own shops and nearby train station. It is ideal for a family because it is inhabited by a family but is also suitable for 2 couples with 2 children for example.

The origins of the town and its symbol, the lemon, have a lovely legend: Eve cast out from the Earthly Paradise with Adam took a golden fruit. Adam who feared the divine anger asked her to throw this fruit away. After climbing mountains, valleys and plains, they glimpsed Garavan Bay. The gulf, the mild climate, the lush vegetation, etc. everything reminded Eve of the sweet Eden. She buried the lemon here. In this place was born a small paradise, Menton. Menton became a climate station much appreciated by English tourists and Russian aristocracy. Palaces and luxury villas started to flourish. Famous hosts come here for the holidays: crowned heads as Empress Eugenia, King Albert I of Belgium, Alexander of Russia, Queen Victoria, etc. and famous artists as the sculptor, Auguste Rodin, the composers Franz Liszt and Charles Gounod, the writer Blasco Ibañez, etc. Menton takes its name of “Pearl of France” from the geographer Elisée Reclus. In this way, in this idyllic setting and climate, take the time to discover the secret soul of Menton, the coastline that is very easily accessible by train and the wonderful hinterlands if you have a car (or by shuttle from the bus station of Menton). In the town: old town, pedestrian street and markets, wonderful gardens, Saint Michel the Archangel Basilica, Russian church, Monastère de l’Annonciade, sculptures of Sosno, Hôtel Adhémar de Lantagnac, Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs and des Pénitents Noirs and marine cemetery. By the sea: stroll along the Italian sea until Cap Martin, water skiing, port of Menton, old town, port of Menton-Garavan, motor boats, scuba diving, sea fishing, hiking, canoeing, towed machines, nautical centre of Menton (lessons), Optimist, catamaran, windsurfing, sea trip on the Brigandin, etc. In the hinterlands: villages of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Castellar, Sainte-Agnès, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Gorbio, Sospel, Castillon, Èze, Saorge, Saint-Martin-Vésubie, Tende, etc. and the Mercantour Park with the Vallée des Merveilles and its sublime hikes (accessible by car within 1 h). By the Italy: Ventimiglia, San Remo, Bordighera, Imperia, etc.
