Overview

About the property

Sleeps 6-8, 3 Bedroom (2 Ensutie) & 2 double double sofa beds,2 reception rooms

Seafield Cottage is a detached renovated cottage nearly 100 years old which looks out on the Atlantic sea and is 4 mins from the beach. The cottage is an ideal base for exploring the west or taking time out to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Renovated respecting the traditional features of the cottage but with a modern twist we have created a modern, bright, spacious and comfortable home.

There is something magical about this area, having holidayed here since I was I child I still cherish every moment i spend here. The most amazing thing I have found is that strangely its okay to do nothing here, just sit back and relax, enjoy the kids, your friends, your family or even your own space!

4 minutes walk to the beach for a quick dip, a leisurely walk or indeed a picnic day!

We have 3 bedrooms 2 of which are enuite and 2 additional double sofa beds.

Our 2 large reception rooms offer space for everyone. reception room one boasts a large traditional fireplace with a solid fuel stove and is great room for cosying up up with a good book of which we have an ample supply if you forget yours. This room is also often used by the younger guests to play out adventures, watch movies or play the Wii on the spare TV!

Reception Room 2; Is a large open plan lounge/ dining area with a solid fuel stove and most importantly fantastic views of the Atlantic and Mutton Island. Relax in the evening with a glass of wine watching the sun set ... bliss. A great room for entertaining and having a large family meals it opens out into the modern galley kitchen with all the facilities to rustle up a feast.

Talking of kids we have a large back garden with plenty of space for them to run around and swing and slide set to keep them entertained. The back garden has 2 patio areas a small one at the bottom of garden and a large one as you exit through the French doors, plenty of space for barbecuing and sunbathing (weather permitting!)

When renovating the cottage we wanted to create somewhere both ourselves and our guests could come and re-energise the batteries.

We have facilities available for families with young children to lessen the packing (wooden cot, travel cot, high chair, steriliser, monitor) For older children we have DVD player, and a Wii console, books and games. Adults can enjoy a range or books and boardgames.

What more ... well the west is at you feet to explores seafield is the ideal location for touring the west and visiting the many attractions we have to offer; The Burren, Bunratty Castle, Moher Activity Farm, Burren pufermy, Brids of prey exhibition, Dolphin watching, Golfing, Walking/Hiking, Cycling, Fishing Surfing, Kite surfing, Music and much much more!

About Michelle Gallagher

I have been holidaying in Quilty since I was a child, in fact my Grandfathers chalet is 2 mins from the cottage. I have wonderful memories of spending the day on the beach running around, swimming, building sand castles and collecting wonderful treasures with all my cousins. Renovating the cottage over the last few years has been a labour of love! We currently live in Ballina, Tipperary just over an hour away.

Michelle Gallagher purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Michelle Gallagher chose County Clare

Seafield has a special place in my heart and when we saw this home and unobstructed sea views we knew it was meant for us!

What makes this cottage unique

Seafield Cottage offers a little bit of heaven. A wonderful bolthole where you can where you can enjoy the beautiful views of the Atlantic, unsurpassed privacy and the beach at your door step.

The large old fireplace, smaller bedroom fireplaces and stoves give the cottage a old world charm. While the modern kitchen, bathrooms and heating system gives you all the comforts of a modern home.

The patio area outsite is great for enjoying the outdoor life with nothing between you and the sea but a green field.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Michelle & Family,

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your wonderful holiday home. We have been coming to Clare all our lives and rented holiday homes for 20 years. This is by far the most amazing. A great place for young and old and a wonderful sense of home. Already looking forward to next year.

Thank you for your thoughtful basket, It really made us feel welcome. You have thought of everything. Dad wanted to see if there were sheep on the Mutton Island, "I wish we had binoculors" he sighed. "We have Grandad in the cupboard" the kids replied. Unbelievable! You have thought of all the needs of weary holiday makers.

Thanks Michelle best wishes, see you next year

Geraldine, Aisling, Saoirse, Oisin & Paddy

Peaceful family friendly cottage very near the sea and a good base to explore the area.

Bungalow nicely decorated and spacious with additional sitting room. Big windows with good light and good views to the bay. Michelle helpful, lots of tips for local activities and great restaurants, and quick to respond to any issues.

Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

Michelle's home was a prefect location with terrific accommodations for my two brothers and myself as we wound up our Irish golf tour with a round/visit around Lahinch. Even more impressive was the hospitality and assistance that Michelle provided during out stay

Stay at this cottage..... you will not regret it.

Cute well-equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights at this nicely equipped cottage. While there we spent most of our time in the rooms at the back because the large windows look out over an expanse of green (with bunnies hopping about) and beyond that, the sea (and Mutton Island). Even doing dishes is a pleasure with that view. The cottage had everything one might need to set up housekeeping for a few days. (So helpful to be able to do a load of laundry. The dryer is different than my American dryer--it has a water compartment you need to empty should your laundry be taking too long to dry. It's easy to do.) The back yard has a swing set and a sandbox, and there's an adorably furnished child's bedroom--it made me wish I had brought some children with me. Plenty of books and DVDs on the shelves, and a notebook with helpful suggestions for nearby restaurants and activities (we ate at one suggested place--The Bakehouse, I think? and enjoyed it very much). Michelle left us a wonderful and appreciated welcome basket of goodies, also.

If you have any trouble finding the place (we couldn't find street signs to guide us and couldn't tell which road led to the pier at first)--just drive past the lovely church, and look for the road that leads off to the pier--drive down it to make sure if you need to--and then look for the house with mermaids flanking the gate, once you've passed the road that leads to the pier.

If you are interested in neolithic megalisths, there is one a few miles away, just sitting out in the bog field. Ask a local to direct you. Seeing it was a highlight for us. It's also nice to walk along the shore and to walk out onto the pier. And after dinner, to settle into a sofa, drape one of the plentiful throws across your lap, and gaze out at the sunset.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped. Spacious. The kids loved the backyard with the swingset and sandbox. It was lovely to watch the sunset from the back.

After a very muddy hike on the Cliffs of Moher, having laundry facilities was very helpful!!
