About Laurie and Tom Edes

Tom & I met at the age of 12, the 1st day of 7th grade and became best friends and soul mates. We dated from 7th -11th grade and went our separate ways after high school graduation. We re-met 33 years later through classmate and the rest is history! We married in 2003 and love living at the lake when we aren't off sailing along the beautiful coast of Maine in our 40 foot sailboat.

Laurie and Tom Edes purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Laurie and Tom Edes chose Maine

We purchased our home on Pushaw Lake in 2005 as a weekend retreat. We were living in southern Maine and found that every time we came to the lake we didn't want to leave. We decided to sell our home in Westbrook and move to the lake full-time in early 2006. When the property next door became available we purchased it and turned it into our King Pine Cottage so others could come and enjoy the peace and beauty of the lake. We have enjoyed meeting guests from all over the USA, Canada, England, Switzerland, and Germany.

What makes this cottage unique

Nearly every window in the King Pine Cottage provides a view of the water. The cottage sits within 15 feet of the water's edge and the sound of the waves gently lapping the shore is so peaceful. The loons arrive as soon as the ice is out and the males call for their mates as evening sets in. It is an awesome setting!

Guestbook comments from the owner

As written in our guest book at the cottage: "thank you for renting us your piece of paradise for our honeymoon. We absolutely love it here! The view is breathtaking any time of day. Thank you very much for being the only place we found where we could leave our "boys: while we were out on our adventures. It is so reassuring to be able to bring our canine family with us. We look forward to coming back."

Very peaceful, comfortable home..area is beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at King Pine was wonderful. My daughters loved being on the lake to swim every day, and my fiancé took them out in the canoe one day. The sound of the loons at night scared my older daughter, who hadn't heard it before. I enjoyed the peacefulness, and having everything that makes the convenience of being home combined with the relaxation of being away. We stayed in the area except the day we went to Acadia. This was the first time all 4 of us had gone away together, and the first time I have used HomeAway, and I was impressed with both! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Breathtaking, beautiful, unbelievable!

  • 5 of 5

The view from the cabin is amazing, with a great back deck and dock. You could spend a whole day there, it is so relaxing. Inside the cabin is cozy and very clean. It is exactly what a cabin should look like - what one looks like when you picture it in your imagination. We loved it!

Lovely Private Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This lovely Glenburn cottage is pleasant and comfortable. After working at a conference all week in Bangor, my colleagues and I were able to relax at the lakeside. This home had everything we needed - from a well-stocked kitchen so we could prepare our meals, to a canoe and fire-pit for evening adventures. During a canoe outing, a beautiful rainbow lingered in a cloud, and we paddled within ten yards of a friendly loon. There is ample water pressure too! The cottage has a private driveway shared with the owners' home and is situated on a small peninsula so you can enjoy gorgeous sunrise AND sunset views. Laurie is a friendly host and I am looking forward to returning to Pushaw Lake next year.

We had a great stay at the cottage. It has a beautiful view from the deck and the cottage had everything we needed, it is exactly how advertised. We went sightseeing during the day and enjoyed returning to the cabin each evening. Would def recommend.

We are group of 6, went to Acadia for Memorial weekend and stayed at this nice location. We really had very much fun doing canoeing, campfire, etc...I definitely stay there again and recommend others if you are group of 6 and less.
