About the host
Hosted by Ayelet Waldman
We are a family of six based in California. This is our summer home.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the town of Brooklin, the remarkable sailing in the Eggemoggin Reach, the Wooden Boat School with its world-famous classes, and with this lovely house nestled in the woods.
What makes this property unique
When we bought this home, it was private and serene, nestled in lovely gardens, but we longed for easy access to swimming. We considered a traditional swimming pool, but decided we didn't want to swim in chemically treated water. Instead, we built a huge (Olympic size) natural swimming pool. (per Wikipedia: "A constructed body of water, where the water is contained by an isolating membrane or membranes, in which no chemicals or devices that disinfect or sterilize water are used, and all clarifying and purifying of the water is achieved through biological filters and plants rooted hydroponically in the system.") The pool is surrounded on all sides by flowers, and because the liner is black, the water is warmed by the sun.
