About peter minto
I'm retired and bought this as ideal for me to live in and my grandchildren to visit.Fantastic safe garden in gated community, lovely pool, and because kids seem to love the beach as well as the pool, the beach is 6 minutes walk away.
peter minto purchased this House in 2005
Why peter minto chose Sitges
The best thing about this property is its location. This is the google maps location, and you can use it to walk to the beach, the golf course, the town, and the railway station. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Passeig+de+Vilanova,+84,+08870+Sitges,+Barcelona,+Spain/Passeig+Mar%C3%ADtim,+23,+08870+Sitges,+Barcelona,+Spainfirstname.lastname@example.org,1.7964517,555m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a3805736ed2745:0x45f9e28e3d7fd3e0!2m2!1d1.7978496!2d41.2354494!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a3805164c47c7d:0x804b93480ca41228!2m2!1d1.7994743!2d41.2321092!3e2

Lovely communal pool and gardens, tired gloomy and shabby home
Lovely pool/gardens, house poor standard. Notice the many photos of pool and gardens in the advert and far fewer of the actual property! Niaivity on our part sadly when we booked. Advertised as a 4 bedroom house but loft room not habitable when we arrived (velux windows and no blind so unless you wanted to be woken at dawn and suffer heat from sun beating thro - sleeping there was not an option). 74 year old grandad forced to sleep on the lounge sofa. The owner advertises that his agents are neighbours and on hand 24/7 - this was not the case for us and we had problems and no-one on site to help us. The owner (in U.K.) tried his best to fix the air conditioning problem and I can’t fault his speedy response he did try his best to assist us. However this took 2 nights and 1 whole wasted day of our holiday to resolve and approximately 20 emails back and forth and internet searching for the air conditioning instructions. BEWARE they are fitted with motion sensors which we were not told about which led to 2 nights of no sleep as they switched themselves off at night. No instructions of how to override the sensors (this was during the recent Spanish heatwave and it was 29 degrees at midnight). We are intellligent people who know how to operate air conditioning and all we did was turn the units on and off using the remote control. There is air conditioning only in 1 of the first floor bedrooms - 2 of the rooms only have fans and the air con units are not powerful enough to cover these areas (in Spain in August). House generally tired and shabby - cracked plates, leaking kettle, loose tap in bathroom, poorly fitting kitchen cupboards, bulbs not operating, filthy BBQ, broken outdoor storage container with items such as broken parasol, unkept rear patio, overgrown plants, leaves all over patio etc. We didn’t complain about these latter issues at the time as no energy left after the major air conditioning problems which put a huge dampner on our week stay. We informed the owner on our return about these for the benefit of other guests. If you are thinking of booking this house DON’T, if you’ve already booked be aware of its suboptimal standard (we say this with certainty as we compared it to our second rental in Sitges the following week which was similar price and stunning). Please refer to a review from 2018 (Tracey), we would have to agree with many of her concerns
I can only say in response to a review of this kind that, if it is accurate, it is hard to understand why I can get so many positive reviews including some with 5 stars. These guests had a problem with the air conditioning on the first night, which was fixed the next day, and as a result they asked for compensation by partial refund, which I agreed to provide.
On 23 August I had an email from one of the guest which said this. "We still have not heard from you with regard to an appropriate level of compensation, and would ask that you respond today please. Liz will be writing a review of our stay on the Home away Web site tomorrow and would wish to do so positively." I did refund some of their rental. Clearly I did not refund enough.
Although the air conditioning was working, these guests when they went to bed on the first night, it kept switching itself off. This applied to all the units so it was not a technical fault. The AC is fitted with sensors so that the AC cannot be left on unless there is someone in the room. At night, the AC checks that it is dark and if it is, stays on.
This is the first complaint I have received since the AC was fitted in 2016. I have written to the AC manufacturers and it is their view that the guests must have left a light on somewhere with the doors open. Since the guests had small children the manufacturers though this a likely explanation.
When i received a complaint from the guests, I spent all day trying to find a solution, which was difficult on a Sunday, and eventually found out, after 30 emails, how to switch the sensors off completely. My agents were away on that day but I also sent round their brother to try and fix the problem. The rest of the week was trouble free. Only one night was affected, not 2 as the guests state.
With respect to the other complaints, the velux blind in the attic room had been broken by a previous guest and we have ordered a replacement. The same applies to the kettle, which has now been replaced. The guests did not complain about anything else, such as broken bulbs or cracked plates, at the time, and if they had they could easily have been remedied.
They also complain that there are not enough AC units. Again this is the first time I have had this complaint, but to be fair to the guests, this was the week of a heatwave that was killing people in Spain. As a result of this heatwave I will be reviewing the adequacy of the system, which has been good enough until now.
Beautiful communal gardens, shabby apartment
On arriving it seemed that we were the first people to stay here in a long time as I walked straight into a cobweb. The rear patio was overgrown and covered in leaves and dirt and the bar b q which we were told on arrival that we were no longer allowed to use was still dirty from the last time it was used. The bed clothes are worn and old as are the towels and the baths needed cleaning before we could use them. On changing the bedclothes it was horrible to see such old and stained mattresses. We were told that all the doors had to be kept padlocked with chains whenever we went out. The shutters were filthy and the chains too big so we ended up not even bothering to open the rear doors or grills as it was a dirty and a longwinded job. The pool and surrounding communal gardens are beautifully kept and the residents very friendly but I would not stay at this property again as it is in need of updating (the sinks do not drain well and smell).overall a dissapointing experience
I don't recognise my house from this review. If you read the other reviews you will see it is not typical. My daughter and grandchildren stayed there at the end of May and loved it. We do not require guests to padlock the property with chains before they go out. Some although not all of the mattresses were replaced earlier this year. The bedclothes and particularly the sheets are also replaced at intervals, as are the towels. As to the cleanliness of the property when these guests arrived I cannot comment. My agents are neighbours and if there are any problems or complaints they can get in touch with them at any time, night or day. This is better than leaving the problem and then complaining. This guest also had my phone number and I had called her before she went and she could easily have sent me a text about any issues. I have asked my agents for an explanation because if I believe this description the cleaners did a poor job. I have asked that my agents inspect their work and get ,.new cleaners if necessary. I would add that this is my holiday home which I let out to guests in the summer months.
GOOD FOR BEACH, LOVELY POOL!
What a lovely place! There was a really nice feel about it and the pool was great for the kids. We were able to walk to the beach and into town, and also to the train station for a day trip to Barcelona.
Good location, well equipped, perfect for a break.
Apartment was clean and well-equipped with good Wifi. On-site pool was great and set in a quiet courtyard which we used a lot and the apartment had a private garden area which was nice to sit in. We enjoyed Sitges's choice of beaches which were a short convenient walk away and the good variety of restaurants to choose from.
We took the train into Barcelona one day which was surprisingly easy.
All in all a well appointed apartment in a nice seaside town conveniently placed for a visit to Barcelona. I'd happily recommend a stay here.
Thanks for that. I'm very glad you enjoyed it.
We all really enjoyed our holiday , brilliant location ticked all the boxes.
The villa suited us nicely, the gated complex meant the children were safe and we could watch them in the pool from the front patio which was only a few yards away. The pool was in an attractive surrounding ,lovely temperature and there were plenty of children to play with without it being overcrowded. The villa is well positioned only 5 to 10 mins from the promenade and 15mins from a large supermarket and the town. We all enjoyed the Festa Major and overall had a lovely time.
The facilities in the villa were good and comfortable but we felt it would benefit with a little TLC .Overall it is a lovely oasis close to a vibrant resort with beautiful beaches.
Great location and lovely villa
The villa is conveniently located for the beach and the town. It was clean and well kept, the pictures are an accurate representation. There is some noise in the master bedroom, it didn't bother us but I'd bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The pool is great and we were often the only ones using it. Peter quickly responded to any queries we had and we had no issues with the villa. The surrounding area and town are lovely with a variety of bars and restaurants to suit anyone.
The house is conveniently located just 5 minutes walk from the beach and from the lively and cosmopolitan town centre of Sitges and 10 minutes walk from the railway station. There is also an 18 hole golf course just 10 minutes walk away. Sitges itself is a mere 35 minute car or train journey to the popular city of Barcelona to the north and the historic city of Tarragona to the south. Alternatively if you are a nature lover you will be in heaven discovering the hundreds of acres of beautiful unspoilt natural parkland just inland from Sitges,
