Our apartment has the most amazing, convenient, sought after location in the heart of Paris on the quiet side of the beautiful Marais district. After living in Paris for 5 years previously, in many different locations, this is truly one the best in terms of position.
Close to the Seine, Bastille, Opera , Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame, the Louvre several open markets, Metro stations , buses, fashionable shops and restaurants. All within walking distance.
Since we have purchased the apartment it has been completely refurbished to create a space that is elegant, stylish and highly practical for short-term holidaymakers wishing for a distinct Parisian experience.
All the typical Parisian features of this 1850’s apartment have been preserved: original oak floor boards, clay tiles, marble fire place and classic French windows opening to a calm, spacious court yard.
Perfectly located on the 2nd floor WITH ELEVATOR this 55m2 (590 sq ft) space has a functional floor plan optimally redesigned.
The apartment is located in rue Charlemagne, right next to metro Saint Paul in the Marais. It has a separate kitchen and separate WC. Fully equipped and accessorized with classic glassware, cook ware and all new white goods. It is a joy to cook the local market produce and you will save an enormous amount being able to prepare your own meals.
The bathroom, which is large by Paris standards, has been completely remodeled, re-tiled with a second toilet so that the apartment will comfortably accommodate 2 couples or a larger family. VERY FEW Paris apartments have 2 WCs. Included in the bathroom is a new washer and separate dryer.
There are 2 bedrooms. All sheets and bedding are provided. There is a King sized bed 160cm x 200cm (63 x 79 in) in the Master bedroom and 2 King singles 90cm x 200cm (35 x 79 in) which can be joined together to make a King double, in the 2nd bedroom.
Minimum rental is one week: (seven nights) There is a cleaning fee to clean the apartment and launder sheets after you leave. We mail you the keys so there is no need to go to another location once you arrive in Paris.
The rue Charlemagne neighborhood is quite special, in the heart of the Marais and on the safe, peaceful side of Rue Rivoli. There is a gated back entrance from the apartment courtyard directly onto Place Saint Paul where the Line 1 Metro stops. On the other side of rue Charlemagne is Village Saint Paul with art galleries, antique shops, the Seine and Isle St Louis.
Continuing on rue Charlemagne is the remains of the historic wall built by Philippe Auguste (before he went to the Crusades) as well as the impressive Lycee Charlemagne. It is a typically Parisian area inhabited by Parisians.

My name is Steven Bishop, I am an Australian clown touring in Cirque du Soleil's show 'Varekai' with my wife, Cathryn, and 4 children. Currently we are performing in Europe until the end of 2010.
For many years, Cathryn and I had dreamed of owning an apartment in Paris. When a friend called and said she had found this gem in rue Charlemagne, we knew our dream had come true.
Our apartment in Paris is our 'pied de terre' while we tour Europe with Cirque. It has been newly renovated with our large family in mind and the result has been beyond our expectations. We have used our extensive touring experience to equip the apartment with the essentials desired by short term travelers for quality living. As we continue our touring experiences through out Europe we have great pleasure in bringing back to the apartment 'a few of our favourite things' which we collect along the way.

Paris holds a significant place in our heart. We have many good friends and mentors here. Both, Cathryn and I spent a very important part of our growth and development as people and performers here. We learnt to stilt walk in Paris, “dorer des onions”, cook a mean couscous…..we learnt the art of “la joie de vivre”.
It was in Paris, on the right bank of the Seine, on a warm June day, before a crowded passing “bateaux mouches”, that I proposed to Cathryn. My wife and I have since bought our “fabulous four” children to Paris and in turn they too have each discovered a part of themselves here.
It was also in Paris where I discovered my clown at the Ecole Jacque Lecoq theatre school. How could I have known that performing this clown with Cirque du Soleil, touring all over the world, would one day help bring me back here to a place of my own.
This is my story of Paris. For wherever I go I take it with me, as it is my “moveable feast” and the place in which I feel both at home and inspired.

The apartment is in a building inhabited by real French people in the typical Parisian community of Saint Paul. Located in the heart of le Marais surrounded by cafes, boutiques and markets ensures a unique Parisian experience which is, believe it or not, getting harder and harder to find in Paris.
And when you want to be a tourist and visit the museums, sights and spectacles, you are in the hub for metro, bus and bike routes. The central location provides for the needs of all members of a family or group with different interests. Being 'close to everything' means you can leave and return easily at your leisure, instead of having to pack for a full day out and about.

The apartment was great. It was very clean, comfortable and completely as represented. The location is perfect. While the apartment itself is on a very quiet street, it is only a block away from a street that has all of the best shops and restaurants that Paris has to offer. A very convenient Metro Station is located on this same street, where you can also catch bus # 69 which will take you from the Bastille to the Louvre, Rue Cler and the Eiffel Tower. Owner was great to deal with. He was very responsive, and security deposit was returned promptly.
I've lost count of the number of times my colleague and I have stayed in this apartment, perhaps six? We visit bi-annually while we have work in the city. It really is a beautiful home on a quiet street in a vibrant neighborhood. The hosts are exceptional. As others have likely noted, there's a terrific restaurant in the building - Chez Mademoiselle - where, because we're always spent after a day of fashion shows, we eat regularly. I hope to always stay at 16 Rue Charlemagne.
This is the second time we have stayed in this comfortable and well-appointed apartment .
We especially love the location on a beautiful quiet street in the Marais. The apartment is situated in an inner courtyard so it is very quiet. We were close to the St. Paul and Pont Marie metro stops. The Monorpix was a short walk away as well as a major market street right around the corner.
The bedrooms had more than adequate storage and the main bathroom was spacious. The extra half bath was convenient too. The washer and dryer were easy to use. The kitchen was well equipped. The living/dining room was comfortable for three adults.
WIFI worked perfectly. There were very few English-language TV programs so the DVD’s, books, and magazines in the apartment came in handy.
The rental process was easy. The user notebook in the apartment contained all the info a renter would need and was easy to understand.
We recommend this lovely apartment. It feels like home in Paris.
This is a wonderful apartment in an ideal spot. Our family of four - two adults and two young teens found it an ideal base from which to explore the city and relax during breaks in the action. The apartment is clean, and comfortable, with a comprehensive set of furnishings and appointments, including a well functioning wifi. Everything is straighforward and nothing fussy. Unless one is looking to entertain a large group, the small kitchen and the shared living/dining area work perfectly well for a quick lunch or dinner. And let's face it, with the abundant and generally wonderful dining options at your doorstep (and in the case of this apartment, I can say that literally) who would want to spend too much time in the kitchen? That said, markets are just outside the door on Rue Rivoli and the Sunday market at Place Bastille is a short stroll away. We used both to provision ourselves for a picnic along La Seine one evening. We might have found it a little noisier than some of the other reviews. But I'd attribute this mostly to some masonry work being done in the courtyard at the time. And to be fair, while very much in the midst of this active neighborhood, the apartment is in fact nicely tucked down a quiet street just steps from the more bustling parts of Le Marais. I'd point out that in addition to the St Paul metro, the location is also very close to Pont Marie stop, offering access to another metro line. We took the train in from CDG, ascended the elevator at Saint Michel/Notre Dame, emerging virtually at the foot at the cathedral. Not only is this a marvellously sudden and dramatic entrance to Paris, it was an easy (even with rolling luggage) and interesting walk over to Rue Charlemagne. Thanks Steven for setting us up so nicely for our week in Paris.
My family of 4 stayed at this wonderfully located apartment at the end of July. With all our luggage, having an elevator was really wonderful - however, we loved walking up and down the beautiful wood stairs, too! Facing the courtyard was great - so much more quiet than the last apartment we stayed in. It was also fun to watch the locals below. It was great to have the option of 2 twins in the second bedroom to give the girls a little breathing room. Loved all the guide books available - handy for a quick reference if needed. The location really is terrific - the metro is right there, but it was also really nice to have the taxi stand so convinient. The half bath is tiny, but so nice to have a second toilet and sink. We loved "Chez Mademoiselle", the restaurant in the building on rue Charlemagne - it was calm and really good. Loved, loved loved Steven's recommendation of Aux Desirs du Manon - went there every day at least once for breakfast, sandwiches, and treats. As I write this, I want to go back!!! Thank you!
This apartment is ideal. Located on a quiet street just off the Rue Rivoli and close to the St. Paul metro, it is a very convenient home base for exploring Paris. My mother and two sons (ages 11 and 14) stayed there for several days and it had everything we needed and more. It was nice to have an extra bathroom and a washer and dryer. We kept the windows wide open at night (it was a very hot week in Paris) and there was no noise.
The owners are very responsive and helpful. I highly recommend this apartment.
This is our second stay at this apartment. We are a family with 3 kids (ages 15, 13 and 10). It is an ideal location in Le Marais. A few blocks away from Ile St. Louis, Notre Dame, etc. Convenient to two different Metros. A short block to the north is outstanding local neighborhood with bakeries, cheese shops, grocery store, etc.
Also, all the apartment windows face on the courtyard, so there is absolutely no street noise, we slept soundly with windows open. Apartment is also on the 2nd floor - with elevator access for those not able to handle stairs.
Lastly, the owners have a very efficient system for renting the place, are easy to work with and trustworthy.
I hope to come back for a 3rd visit!
