About Chapman Cristina

Hello, my name is Cristina. I am married and have two girls. We found our home at Juzet during our honeymoon vacation in 2005. We bought the house the following summer in 2006 and it remained under constant renovation until 2014. We spent many holidays there with friends and family - with the house still under renovation. We transferred to the Pyrenees in 2015 with our children to do the renovation. I was a remote worker while my husband renovated the house and our girls attended school in the next village. When the house was completed, we returned to England and now invite you to enjoy the wonderful mountain views, invigorating sounds of the creek, fresh waterfall, miles of hiking trails, mountain biking and jogging courses, cycling cols, skiing and snowboarding slopes: paragliding thermals, and simple pleasure and relaxation offered in the city near Bagnères de Luchon. Louisou Pene built our house in 1930s. He was boatman during the war and tableware maker when life returned to normal afterwards. He saved many Jews and other people before being captured. But he never wanted to talk about his experience. He was one of the most generous and kind persons who, together with his wife Madeleine, spent half a century living a simple life in Juzet. Every evening during the sunny days, they dined on the terrace with melon and dived into the creek when places were fresh. Our work continues his spirit of generosity. We hope that you will enjoy the house and the area as much as we do and equally as Madeleine and Louisou did before.

Why Chapman Cristina chose Saint-Gaudens area

Juzet de Luchon is a traditional Pyreneen milling community founded on the 300-metre waterfall that sits at the head of the village. While flour is no longer milled at the waterfall and the remains of the original 18th-century mills and waterwheel are now ruins, the waterfall remains a draw for people hungry to see the sheer force of the water falling from 300-metres above and its stunning setting. The village is nestled into the mountainside and is the start of some challenging walking and biking terrain - road cycling and mountain biking. It is the perfect base for exploring all the mountain sports and activities on offer in neighbouring Bagneres de Luchon - winter, spring, summer and autumn. While spring has a lot of rainfall, the summer and autumn months offer continuous weeks of blistering hot days and brilliant sunshine. With the winter snap comes 12 weeks of snow fun up at Superbagneres Ski Resort - with the added benefit of sun-kissed snow-covered slopes. Bagneres de Luchon is just 2 miles away and has a wide range of restaurants, bars, shops and supermarkets as well as Europe's only natural hammam in the Spa nationally renowned for its healing properties and as a centre for excellence. People have been coming to Luchon for nearly 300 years from all over France and beyond for the therapeutic powers of its spa water and the talented health practitioners and doctors who have set up around them.

What makes this house unique

If absolute seclusion is an essential ingredient for your holiday - this is not the place for you. The house is tucked away into the mountainside in front of the waterfall and the mountain trails but sits at the head of the village square. The house offers the unique combination of mountain tranquillity and people watching as the square periodically comes alive with activity as walkers, bikers and others pass through to embark on the trails.

Great house in a very good location.

The house was very comfortable, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, good bathroom and some interesting features. Good position just outside town and by the Juzet waterfall.

un endroit magnifique a visiter . une maison de rêve , le confort est au top . de grande chambre

très belle cuisine ( 20/20 ) internet avec box les enfants été ravi . une vue a couper le souffle . le centre ville est a 2 km a peine idéal pour achat de souvenir et très bon resto , patinoire en plein air au top . ne pas mettre un frein sur le prix de l'allocation cela vaut vraiment le coup d'y aller vous serais pas déçu. merci a la propriétaire et a la personne qui nous a accueilli très très gentil et maison très propre . Sonia et Pierre vacances février 2017..........bizzzz

Sunny days at a charming place

We spent two wonderful weeks at this comfortable and tastefully renovated house! We found everything as it is shown on the pictures, the house has all the comforts you need to feel welcome and at home after a day of activities, hiking or sightseeing. Besides the small gravel garden there is only the small space in front of the house to sit outside and relax, but for us that was really enough! We found it wonderfull to barbecue in the evening, when the small village became calm (which it is anyways besides hikers and tourists visiting the cascade). Our kids loved to visit the cascade in the afternoon and step into the cold water with their feet!

The area offers a lot of activities and the view from the house is overwhelming!
