There is a very sweet, mature cat that inhabits the loft for short term stays of three days or less, which the owner does not like to uproot the pet for short term stays. He is no problem at at all and will be left will ample food, clean litter etc., and he remains in the loft with all rentals during any stay. Most renters have found his presence to be quite an asset, and no one has had any allergic reaction. If this is an issue please let us know as his removal is negotiable.
The Unit is in the heart of the OLD CITY in the Historic District of downtown Knoxville. Constructed in the late 19th century, it's amongst the first of the historic buildings in what used to be Knoxville's furniture manufacturing section, to be converted into residential spaces in the mid 80s - first as an apartment and then in 2005 as a completely refurbished condominium loft. It is a one of a kind unit and amongst it's interesting lineage was its inhabitation by a certain UT football star.

If you want to stay in a historic unit with all the comforts of home right in the heart of downtown there are no other choices other than a hotel. Also, most downtown units either offer no parking or a block or two away. Ours has dedicated parking right next to the building and is pet friendly.
This was our first extended stay in Knoxville and we wanted a space that offered the comforts of home. This loft gave us that and more. First off the location is amazing; an historic area known as the Old City. You literally can walk anywhere. There are restaurants, shops, theatre, nightlife all within steps of the front door. The huge corner unit offers great vistas of downtown is very hip in decor with great amenities like a large jacuzzi tub and wood burning fireplace We loved it!
The loft was cluttered and unclean...but, the deal killer for us was the smell. It hit you before you opened the door. We never stayed here....stayed in the Crown Plaza hotel a couple of blocks away. I have never written a bad review. I am a Homeway property owner and honestly feel uncomfortable writing this because bad reviews hurt rentals. I shared this with the manager several times and asked him to try to make it right "in some way". I never expected or nor asked for a full refund...but, felt that some kind of compromise could be made. The manager did offer to come clean, I refused...saying that there was no amount of cleaning that would improve the smell...even in 24 hours. He refused to refund even a portion of the 8 nights that I prepaid. If you do stay here, make sure to pay through Homeaway directly...then you do have some recourse. I paid through Paypal at the owner's request. This loft feels like a student batchelor pad...very cluttered and not clean. The location, building and loft itself is wonderful....unfortunately, the cleanliness and unbearable odor kept us from staying here.
We stayed for 3 nights in late May. Brad was easy going to work with. The location was amazing and convenient to so many interesting bars and restaurants, for all crowds ,even an all you can eat cereal bar. The Irish bar across street was terrific. 2 coffee shops down the street were cconvenience as the coffee maker in the loft was moldy. It was VERY "lived in" but modern and comfortable. bubut if you are used to a very clean neat hotel, this is not your place. Honestly I think that Brad hired a cleaner that is not consistent. I ended up wiping down counters and doing things the cleaner should have. During our stay, a piece of molding fell from the ceiling while we were gone out to eat. It was the length of the room, 30 feet long and could have actually seriously hurt someone. Although it was not Brads fault, we were not offered anything off the cleaning fee for our inconvenience after spending over an hour cleaning up the apartment from the damage. All in all I might stay here again if I were in Knoxville only because the location was amazing and the loft had a lot of character.
We enjoyed our stay here. This apartment has everything you need, and it is right in the heart of the old city. It's in a partying part of town, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, so it gets a little noisy on weekend nights. I like that we were able to bring our two Chihuahuas. Lacking tech savvy, I had to call Brad for help operating the two remotes for the TV, for which he promptly returned my call to offer assistance over the phone. I will stay here again on future trips to Knoxville.
My family and I came here to spend Thanksgiving together. We loved the unique look of the loft. It had so uch more character than a regular hotel room. Being from Chicago and Indianapolis, the decor was everything we could have wanted (Cubs and Peyton Manning stuff everywhere - it was perfect!). The location is perfect and close to many bars and restaurants. The outside noise was a bit loud but we didn't have any small children so it was never a problem for us. There was quite a bit of white cat hair on the furniture so we had to make sure we weren't wearing our "going out clothes" when we sat on the furniture but it really wasn't that big of a deal since we are animal people as well. Brad was very accommodating with us by allowing us to bring our dogs which is why we would definitely visit this loft again when we pass through Knoxville next time. I'd suggest checking this loft out if you're in the area. Thanks for a great first time in Knoxville!
We did NOT enjoy our stay here! The property manager/owner promised the place would be cleaned prior to our arrival. We got there and the place smelled of cat pee. Not to mention the cat hair that was ALL over the place. The kitchen sink was filthy. The toilets had NOT been cleaned. He said he had left fresh linens there for us, but NONE of us used it because it had cat hair on it. There were four of us staying there (all ladies) and I am the ONLY one that took a shower...and it was because I felt that I needed to wash the filthy feeling off of me.
The property manager was rude and raised his voice when I told him that we were not pleased with this. He refused to refund any portion of our money and had the NASTIEST attitude.
I wouldn't recommend this place to any one!!! PERIOD!!!

There is a mature, non intrusive house cat that lives in the loft which the owner does not like displace and will remain in the loft for short term rentals. There is no responsibility to feed or change litter etc., just tolerate his presence. Mr. Big is a sweet, affectionate fellow and will be an asset to your stay!
