Fantastic holiday

We spent a fantastic week in Sue and Roger's flat. The flat was extremely clean and had everything you could need. The photos don't do it justice. The location of the flat was great, within easy reach of everything without the need of the car. The town of Tavira is beautiful. There's plenty to do and visit and loads of places to eat. It was our first time in Portugal but we'll definitely go back and rent the same flat! Sandra and Jorge who deal with everything there were absolutely lovely.

Excellent location

We stayed in this appartment a few weeks ago ,had everything we needed well stocked , location is brilliant very quite yet so near lots of lovely restaurants and local little bars ,pool was such a bonus when you want a lazy day .the local market is great for your fresh fruit ,veg and of course the fish ,Tivera is a lovely little town will be returning .Oscars is well worth a visit excellent food .M Horgan

Great location, Nice apartment

We spent Feb & March at this apartment. It has a great location in the historic area near the town center, river, restaurants & grocery stores. It is also within walking distance of the bus & train stations.

The apartment was very clean as is the complex. It is well equipped with everything you need & beds are very comfortable as is the deck furniture. The owners, Rich & Sue, were always very prompt to return our emails. Sandra was also very good at check in and available during our stay.

Tavira is a lovely town & we would definitely stay here again.

Convenient and comfortable

The apartment is well situated for the town centre and supermarkets. We always hire bicycles and it was handy for our usual jaunts. Well equipped with comfortable beds and heating (it was December). Wifi worked well and it was a bonus to have access to UK TV and films. Sandra, who looks after the apartment, was there to greet us and responded promptly to a small problem we had on Christmas Day. A real star and lovely lady. The only minus was the bin lorry collections during the night but we got used to it - ear plugs may be useful though. All in all - excellent and we would stay here again. Sue and Craig, East Yorkshire.

A short walk takes you directly into Tavira town centre where you will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquillity. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants.There are many churches (32 in total!) to view, along with the town castle, several monuments and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park. There is a wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce, fish,meat fruit & vegetables. The main town square is brimming with small coffee shops, perfect for socialising at any time of the day.A small train operates around the town and is ideal for seeing all the sights and experiencing the peaceful, romantic ambience.

Local beach Ilha de Tavira: Tavira Island: The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy beaches and the beach of Tavira Island is no exception. As a naturally formed island separated from the mainland by the River Formosa, it is reached by catching a small and inexpensive water ferry from a designated point in the small harbour. A good range of facilities are offered including restaurants, bars, sun beds for hire and a wonderful holiday atmosphere amongst golden sands and the rolling Atlantic Ocean.

There are a number of other beaches in close proximity and all worth a visit! Praia Verde, Manta Rota, Altura and Cabanas are within a 20km radius.

Local activities and things to do: Tavira itself is primarily a town for sight-seeing, dining and relaxing, however, by travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or nature trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there is an excellent shopping centre in Faro as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach.

There is a good local train service along the Algarve coast from Lagos to Villa Real de Santo Antonio, via Faro available from Tavira station.

From this property it is easy to take a day trip to Spain.The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is approx 25kms by car, where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping. Ayamonte can also be reached by ferry from Vila Real de Santo Antonio. The vibrant city of Seville is about 170km away.
