The School House is a spacious Victorian property in a beautiful spot on Exmoor making it a perfect destination for family and friends get-togethers. As the name suggests, this property was once a school for the local villages but it has since been transformed into memorable and comfortable accommodation for 11 people (up to 13 including sofa bed) plus cot.
The open-plan living/dining room has a large wood-burner and plenty of comfortable seating, a full-size table tennis table in case of wet weather and a piano with a collection of music. The kitchen adjoins the living area and leads out onto the delightful terrace. Beyond the dining area is a cosy 'snug' with further comfortable seating (including sofa-bed for two extras if required), this leads through to two downstairs bedrooms - one double with en-suite and one triple bedroom (bunk beds plus single), there is also a downstairs bathroom. Upstairs are three further bedrooms, one four-poster double bedroom, a second double bedroom and a twin room plus bathroom.
Tucked in at the top of a Combe above Brendon this was a delightful place for a family weekend. Eight adults, four children, and a babe and a black lab all fitted in easily. Plenty of space comfortable, well equipped. Far enough off the road for kids to roam safely. Five cars took a bit of juggling but otherwise absolutely loved it. Lynton and Lynmouth not far away, good walking all around, beautiful scenery we would thoroughly recommend it.
Countisbury is an attractive rural parish in North Devon and within Exmoor National Park. The 'wilds' of the moorland literally tumble into the sea creating dramatic cliffs and a breathtaking coastline.
The picturesque villages of Lynton and Lynmouth are nearby, famous for the funicular cliff railway that runs between the two villages. The capital of North Devon is Barnstaple and provides an extensive range of facilities including the famous Victorian pannier market and Butchers Row.
Exmoor is situated in South West Britain, specifically across West Somerset and North Devon. Often referred to as England's best kept secret, Exmoor is a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets.
