About this property

The Mac Shack is located by a grove of MacIntosh trees on a 20 acre farm in the BX area of Vernon. The cabin was first built by homesteaders back in the early 1900's and was a pickers cabin for many years when the fields around were full of Spartan trees. We completely renovated the interior of the cabin so that it is fully equipped with fresh and new, well insulated and set up for a comfortable stay. We have great views overlooking the North Okanagan and Vernon, minutes away.

Just right for two!

The Mac Shack is more spacious than it appears from the outside. We were here with other family members who stayed in the nearby farmhouse. It was great to be close but have our own space. Lovely setting.

Quiet and relaxing

Property was exactly as described. Very clean. Patrick was very helpful when we requested the use of a drip coffee maker rather than the french press provided.

About the host

Hosted by Patrick or Sean Ling-Allen

Sean and I moved to my home town of Vernon, BC from Toronto, Ontario in 2015. Patrick has an environmental management background and now works the orchard. Sean is an artist, pilates instructor as well as the family chef and barista, he operates 'Centred Pilates Studio' in the old packing house. We have 3 young children a dog child and love food, cycling, nature and the environment. Our orchard is certified organic and currently expanding into the field east of the cabin. We incorporate a permaculture approach to the spartan grove near the lane.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property because it is 10 acres of flat land right beside our mature hillside orchard with some cool old homestead buildings. Its the perfect space for expanding the orchard and establishing our farm here for the next couple decades, maybe longer if the kids show an interest.

What makes this property unique

The trail system and nearby creek are a beautiful for a stroll, especially at sunset on the trail, or to escape the heat on a hot day by the creek and waterfall. We're next door to an equestrian centre with several friendly senior horses who are a treat to visit at the fence. The property is in a quiet country setting with a deadend gravel road yet we're just a few kms from town and central to the lakes and mountains.
