Hi, I'm Debbie Bishop/owner of Mt. View Management in Orem, Utah. I have the pleasure of managing two cabins on the Provo River - please see also VRBO listing # 135230.
Debbie purchased this cabin in 2007
Both cabins are ideal for family vacations, fishing trips, etc. We hare many guests who come to Provo to bring their children for BYU sports camps & EFY ! Perfect location for these events! We are located 10 miles up Provo Canyon on a new 4-lane highway. Drive another 15 miles from the cabin to Midway/Heber, and another 15 miles to Park City. There are many fun & interesting places to visit - the cabins each have a book with lists of things to do, sites to see!
The scenery is beautiful - the color of the mountains right across the river change with the seasons. The temps are perfect - typically 10-15 degrees cooler than in town. At night, you'll need a blanket! Sit by the river and just relax, listen to gurgling river flowing by, watch the birds and enjoy the quiet! If you have kids, there's a grassy place for them to run & play! Nearby walking trails, and other nearby attractions! Fishing in the Provo River is world-class; river rafting in the summer months is very popular!
We have gas grills for BBQing and a fire pit for roasting hotdogs & s'mores around the campfire. Outdoor tables for picnics. No reason to be inside until dark, then snuggle up & enjoy satellite TV or a movie!
There are on-site caretakers nearby that manage the RV park. They can help you with anything you may need!
We stayed in this wonderful cabin for a week, and loved every minute (even the very rainy ones). We were a little concerned that they don't take payment through HomeAway, and that the cabin is adjacent to an RV park, but neither of those things was an issue at all. We genuinely hope to return soon!
Six of us rented both cabins for a week in July and enjoyed a great holiday. The cabins were clean, well-stocked, spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Booking and check-in were easy and pleasant, and the locals we met were friendly and helpful. The (bitterly cold) Provo River is just steps away from the cabins and there are plenty of brown trout and rainbow trout. If you get bored fishing (which no one did), just enjoy the scenery! Tubing on the river was a blast (although some in our party might disagree, like I said, the water's cold). The mountains and valleys are amazing, and there was lots of wildlife to enjoy: muskrats, ducks, deer, etc. We rented mountain bikes and rode the trail along the Deer Creek Reservoir every day (there was no need to ride on, or even cross, the busy highway). The Heber Creeper Railway was a fun diversion too, although I think a round trip might have seemed long (we rode one-way from Heber City to Vivian Park). We went horseback riding with KB Horses and were well looked after by the owner of the ranch and the two cowgirls who accompanied us. The horses were in good shape, and again, the scenery was amazing. If you need supplies, Provo, Orem, and Heber City are a short (scenic) drive away. Just remember that this is Utah, and liquor stores are few and far between (just saying). Overall, we had a great time at these cabins on the river and would love to return.
My wife, daughter and I stayed at the cabin for the week of 4/18/2011. The cabin was clean and well maintained, the owners were great people, helpful and attentive without being over bearing. The setting is spectacular with views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains and the river literally 10 steps from the front door. What is hard to beleive is that all this is only 10 minutes from the city with great shopping and dining, but if you fish you won't want to leave. The weather was typical Utah spring, thunderstorms and cold followed by warm and sunny, and the river was high due to water releases in preparation for spring runoff. Even with less than ideal conditions the fishing was fantastic, brown trout and rainbows were abundant. including a personal best rainbow on a fly rod. The lake above the cabin was also loaded with nice rainbows if you don't fly fish. Overall, a great cabin in a perfect setting for anyone that likes to fish.
We stayed at this cabin for a week in early June, 2010. Very clean and well thought-out place.
My buddy fished his brains out and caught some rainbows and brown trout. Lots of other wildlife
around too (deer, beavers). Worked out great versus a hotel. Highly recommend!!
