Perfect setting. Very peaceful
The villa was amazing with beautiful views of the mountains and sea. You definitely need a car though to get the best of the area. We ate most nights in Bali- lots to choose from. Overall one of the best holidays we've had
Dear Keith, we really appreciate your great review and we hope to see you again on your next trip to Crete! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
An incredible villa. Amazing view, gorgeous pool - beautifully kept villa.
We had a brilliant time in October. The owners of the villa were so welcoming - pool cleaned every morning and villa cleaned/sheets changed after three days. Nothing was too much trouble. Best villa we’ve stayed in.
Dear Rachel, we really appreciate your great review and we hope to see you again on your next trip to Crete! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
Immaculate property, fantastic views and wonderful hosts.
So good you don't really want to tell anyone else about it.
Dear Alex, thank you for giving us a perfect rating and we hope to welcome you again in our Villa! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
A wonderful way to spend our honeymoon!
My new husband and I had such an amazing time here and we would both highly recommend it. Yes, it is a bit of a steep drive/ walk up the hillside to reach the villa but once you get there my word it is worth it! The villa itself is beautiful, with all the amenities you need and the welcome package of fresh fruit, cheese, olives, bread, wine and, of course, raki, were a lovely surprise! The views from the balcony are incredible and it was lovely just to sit with a cold glass of wine in hand in the early evening and look out at the beautiful blue sea. The pool may not satisfy serious swimmers but I spent many hours happily reading a book while standing in the pool and resting on the edge. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, and were in contact throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Both their sons work at the bar Porto Paradiso in the village and are great guys, really friendly and happy to chat to you. This became our regular stop at the end of the night for a cold beer or cocktail (or two) before heading back up the hill.
The beaches around Bali are very nice - the sea is clear and calm (especially in the beaches a bit further round where they are more sheltered) and although they are covered in loungers and umbrellas even in high season they didn't feel crowded or overly busy. There are nice tavernas at each beach for a quick bite or drink at lunch.
We ate out twice a day most days (it was our honeymoon afterall) and so tried a large number of the local tavernas. The food is very similar at most of them, with the traditional Greek dishes such as souvlaki, kleftiko, moussaka, Greek salad and gyros available at most places, but you can also find suckling pig on a spit and some wonderful fresh fish. Many of the tavernas have wonderful views overlooking the bay - perfect for a sunset drink.
If you prefer to cater for yourselves there are plenty of supermarkets (they call themselves this, they are really mini markets) which should have everything you need in the village. We hired a car but also made good use of the little train that runs an hourly circuit around the village to get to the further bays which are quite a walk away.
We had a couple of days out at Rethymno and Heraklion to get a (little) bit of culture but for us this was the perfect lounging honeymoon - great villa, great beaches, great food, great beer, great service! We would definitely come back!
Dear Elizabeth , thank you so much for taking the time to write such an amazing review about our Villa! It was our pleasure having you as guests! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
High standard, with all you could require for a very relaxing holiday.
From the moment we booked until the day we left, we did not fail to be impressed with the level of service received from both the owners and their rental agent.
The villa was exactly as expected and the setting was just what we were looking for, peaceful but not remote.
The pool was a godsend in the heat of the day and a perfect size for two.
Bali was quieter than we expected and as a result we spent a number of afternoons there lingering over a long, leisurely lunch.
I would recommend this Villa for couples without hesitation and would love to visit again. Thanks to the owners and Valia for making our first visit to Crete so memorable.
Dear Dawn, thank you for taking the time to review your stay in our Villa and we really appreciate your lovely comments! We hope to have the chance to host you again in the future! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
Fabulous villa, fabulous location
The villa is fabulous, still new and shiny and the build, fittings (windows - all with fly screens- doors, kitchen, etc) all to a very high standard. The gardens are excellent, immaculate and very well maintained. Just outside the garden, lots of trees with birds and wildlife and the flowers in the garden attracted butterflies. The entrance drive looks great, but is a little tight the first time you go in, in a large 4-wheeler, but we got used to it! The view from the garden and terrace are amazing day and night. The pool is not huge but big enough for two. It doesn't have a deep end so not good for diving. Pool cleaned every morning. Garden also has loungers and parasols. Villa Anemone also has a barbecue. Villa cleaned and linen changed midweek. TV in lounge with Satellite and a TV in the bedroom; Greek channels but we found UK and US programmes with the original sound and Greek sub-titles, but you don't go to Crete to watch TV. Wifi was good - we had two iPads and two phones connected. Excellent air-conditioning. There is a safe. The hosts were very nice and friendly and greeted us when we arrived, and left us a welcome pack of cheese, olives, bread, wine, tea, coffee, etc; brought us some home grown vegetables during the week; and came to say goodbye when we left. Bali is a good half hour walk down, probably more coming back up-hill especially in the heat (or heels!) but the local taxi company (the owners gave us the card - Vasilis Maris ++30 6986 272886) was very helpful pleasant and cheap. Bali is a quirky resort, very long, twisty, up and down, and narrow, but a good choice of restaurants and bars for all tastes and prices. Especially try the old town/harbour and Evita Bay. Beaches vary in quality and crowded-ness, so it depends what you like; some water sports and kiddies water inflatables, etc. But with such a lovely villa, gardens, terrace and pool you are happy at home to be honest. We had a car and explored beaches along the coast between Bali and Rethymno; and the south coast, Plakias, Shinaria, Amoudi, Damnoni, etc. We found a lovely taverna on the road towards Rethymno, less than five minutes drive, on top of a hill and curve in the road; fabulous views towards Bali, decent food. The villa owners son Manos, works in a bar/restaurant called Porto Paradiso where we ended up most nights for a night-cap. And his brother was also there during his break from national service. Would we recommend it? We most certainly would.
Dear Graham, hank you so much for recommending our villa to other travellers and we hope to have you back soon! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
Dream Villas are located just 3 minutes away, by car, from Bali village which was a small fishing village, but over the years has become a charming touring village, overlooking the little fishing harbour and the sea. It is a very attractive and romantic place, combining sea and mountains. Life is easy going enjoying the sun and the clear calm sea at a number of sandy and shingly beaches. Bali is a modern seaside resort, which offers a large choice of taverns ,restaurants, a bakery, an ATM machine, super markets, a butchery and cheese shop, as well as a wide variety of little shops, diving school, bars and discos.
Bali is accessible from any part of the island. It is ideal for family and romantic holidays. Bali has four beaches, which are formed in sandy coves with nice greenish waters. The beaches are almost always calm, since the direction of Bali is western. They all are suitable for children and well organised. Moreover, buses from Heraklion and Rethymnon run to Bali. Furthermore, from the local harbour, excursion boats run daily to Rethymnon. The passengers have the chance to admire a unique coastline with beautiful caves and rock formations.
Also Panormo, is a friendly sea side village, 10 minutes away by car and well know for its sandy beaches. The two main beaches are Limanaki and Limni. Both of them are sandy with clear blue water and ideal for kids, as they are shallow and well protected from winds. The beaches are organised and equipped with sun beds & umbrellas. Water sports are also available. The harbour beach in front of the village is the port of the area, where the boats tie up, this beach is unorganised.
The village has all the facilities and amenities one would need : well-stocked mini-markets, post office, pharmacy, a doctor’s office, a butcher's shop, bakery (hot, fresh bread every morning from 9 am), various gift shops and traditional seaside shops at very reasonable prices.
Further, there is a good selection of cafes and excellent traditional tavernas, overlooking the harbour and the sea, which offer a warm welcome and a beautiful setting to enjoy some traditional Cretan food, fish as well as international dishes.
Quoted prices include all taxes and services, housekeeping, free Wi-Fi, A/C and welcome offer. There are no hidden costs. Rates are subject to change until the reservation is confirmed.
