BAIT-AND-SWITCH? NOT THE HOUSE WE BOOKED AND PAID FOR!!!!!!
The owner obviously tried to trick us from the very beginning.
The day we booked, we were given the property address, and as we found out later, it was not the address of the advertised house we booked and paid for. But evidently, we only found out once we got there.
48 hours before the start of our stay, the owner texted us that the house we booked and fully paid for - a 7 bedrooms/7 bathrooms house - had "swimming pool issues and A/C problems in one of the rooms". We were offered as an alternative another smaller house, unsuitable for our needs. This alternative house had 6 bedrooms / 5 bathrooms, and could not accommodate my 12 guests; besides, unlike the initially booked house, it was not accessible to physically challenged people. We made this very clear to the owner. We also clearly stated that we could live with the issues as described, if they could not be fixed on time. The same day we received another message stating that the plumbing issues will be resolved.
Once we got there, we found out that the address given to us from the very beginning is NOT where the advertised house we paid for is located. It was in fact the smaller house, the house we had made clear was not suitable, because we could not fit all together.
Obviously, she was trying to confuse us from the beginning…or, was it a BAIT- AND -SWITCH?
When asked for a clarification, the manager said she got confused between the many properties she owns...
When asked about the house we had booked, we were told by the caretaker on site that it was definitely not available... because it was occupied.
We were left with no choice but to take what was available. We were forced to split into 2 groups, and 3 of my guests were put up in a separate accommodation, in the backyard, were the kitchen was locked and off-limits for religious reasons we were told.
The house we ended up with was under-equipped in kitchenware and cutlery.
The access was very difficult for an 87 years old person and 2 small children.
The lower ground floor (3 bedrooms) had a persistent smell (sewers? mold?)
The pool maintenance was done only once during our 6-day stay.
All in all, it was a very disappointing experience.
Of course, the owner denies any missellling or wrongdoing
I did have a plumbing problem that made the house unusable.
The problem occurred a few days before the arrival of customers and I immediately informed the client, I offered two solutions:
- the full refund
- or relocation in one of our beautiful villas (here in advertisement)
She told me that the trip was too close to cancel and she chose the relocation in the villa of 12 people!
Being sorry for her, I wanted her guests to be comfortable so I offered them in addition to a small house to accommodate 6 people. only for sleeping and not for cooking and other ...
She did not give any news during the whole stay and told my staff she was finally thrilled with the new villa. At the end of the stay she decided to complain for a refund!
Regarding the address it is the address of the head office of our company! she mixes everything ...
