James & Lori Mayfield
About James & Lori Mayfield
James is a police officer for the City of Somerset and Lori is a 911 dispatcher. On our free time we ride horses and participate in rodeos. We also spend a lot of time boating on Lake Cumberland.
James & Lori Mayfield purchased this House in 2012
Why James & Lori Mayfield chose Somerset
We purchased this small farm in 2012 and later added this home for our father. He passed away in January of 2018, we then started renovating the home with unknown intentions. We learned about vacation rentals and decided that was the best way to share our piece of heaven on earth with others.
What makes this House unique
This home is the last home on a short, dead end road. It is in the heart of mother nature and noise from her beautiful creatures is relaxing from dawn till dusk. We love watching the deer graze near the horses, the squirrels playing, and listening to the songs of the birds. We also have a resident bear. She comes and goes but she has been around here since she was a cub. She never gets too close to the home but is often seen grazing in the horse pasture.

Secluded...yes at the end of a narrow paved road. Quiet...yes. We enjoyed hearing different kinds of birds singing. Comfy..yes. Affordable...yes. Serenity is a good name for this place.
Pooch the Dog was a big hit with my kids :)
Cute, cozy, country setting, near LOTS of hiking and sites!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hosts had everything we could need. The house was clean and comfortable, Pooch, the pup welcomed us each time we arrived back to the house.
We were able to hike Cumberland Falls, Natural Arch, Yahoo Falls, Pulaski Co park and 3 Forks of Beaver Creek in 2 days! First 3 were AMAZING, done on our day one. Day 2 was nice, but more driving in between.
Be prepared for narrow mountain road driving in this area. Everyone was super friendly. Many grocery and dining options in Somerset.
Secluded, beautiful setting, comfy
The home is remote in a beautiful wooded setting. Loved the decor! Very clean and the owners were very accommodating and friendly. Happy that we could have our dogs with us. Had forgotten what a mountain drive was like but it was so beautiful. Highly recommend!
