|Minimum Stay||5 - 7 nights|
The Villa is fully licensed with the local government agency in Vila Do Bispo. Our house is full of light and open spaces with large terraces on two levels. Surrounded by trees with a fabulous garden and long wooded lot, enjoy morning coffee and a late night glass of wine in the privacy of nature. We have a couples bedroom with en suite bath and an upstairs bedroom with twin beds and adjoining bath and shower. There is a living space upstairs that can accommodate sleeping for one person, a space for morning exercise or a play area of kids. The pool is large enough for lap swimming and there is a outdoor kitchen and grill.
We are an American couple who have been coming to Sagres every year for 20 years. We worked and saved to buy or build a home. We bought this land in 2004 and built the house in 2009-2011. It was designed by an internationally recognized Portuguese architect, Mario Martins. We stayed here for 2 1/2 years to landscape the property ourselves (a work in progress), add finishing touches and enjoy some time off from our adult responsibilities. We want to rent for part of the year and use for family the rest. We hope to rent to adults and families who will respect our special home and enjoy the lure of Sagres.
David Wornson purchased this villa in 2011
We think the location of our house is special. Most of Sagres does not have alot of trees or wooded plots. When we discovered this plot we fell in love with it because it had so much vegetation and was on edge of town. We come from rural America and loved the open spaces to the north and the fact that it is bordered by the Natural Park. We love it when the sheep herders bring their goats and sheep to graze on the adjoining proprty and up the hill. We can walk for hours in the park and forest without seeing anyone. At the same time, it is a 20 minute walk to the town center and the nearby beaches (for me 5 minutes by bike). The grocery store is just a 10 minute walk. There is a disco about 150 meters from us but it is not a serious nuisance for us in July and August as long as the operate it as they are supposed to...which they have been doing. I am happy to discuss this issue if you have concerns.
Our house is not secluded and completely private. We have neighbours. But for the most part this property is unique in the Sagres area. It sits up on a hill with views over the village of Sagres toward the coast. Given the large wooded lot and our garden, it offers privacy and the comfort of nature. The night skies are black with brilliant stars and planets. Bring a guide to constellations.
We had a wonderful holiday in Sagres. The villa was spacious, light and airy, with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The best we've ever stayed in! The booking process and check-in/out went very smoothly. Sagres is a lovely, laid-back place. The beaches were quiet and had good facilities. There were some really good bars and restaurants nearby. Would definitely recommend this villa!
We had a wonderful time in Sagres. It was one of our best ever family holidays, the house is very nice (light, airy, spacious and amazing)! Every room was a good size and the whole villa was spotless.The pool was a great size and we like the garden and the terrace.
The organization with the housekeeper was perfect. Thank you for that.
We would appreciate to return in the next years.
We spent 2 weeks in August in David’s amazing villa. It was one of our best family holidays we ever had. The house is really inspiring, very spacious, very light and although the sun is always shining it doesn’t get too warm inside. The palms in the garden create a great vacation atmosphere and the pool is very clean, the water is a little bit cold (because the weather was not too warm this time in August), but it was a pleasure to swim each morning. Everything is like you can see it on the photos or even better.
Sagres is a great place to be. You find great beaches, good restaurants and bars and it is still far away from the big touristic areas in the Algarve.
We are sure, that we will return.
Thank you, David for giving us the opportunity to live in your villa.
Our Villa was completed in 2011 and designed by a well recognized Portuguese architect. It sits at the northern end of a long wooded plot (3,600 square meters) with palm, eucalyptus and acacia trees. The garden is quite spectacular. There is large pool great for lap swimming,an outdoor grill and kitchen. There is a working farm across the road and occasionally you can watch the goats and sheep being herded with ducks and geese. Just north begins the Natural Park with a great hiking especially through the pine forest and along the western coast. This area is great for bird watching with all species of gulls, high flying raptors, diving swifts and swallows and the extraordinary sounds of the song birds. The night sky is black and brilliant with stars especially from the second level terrace. Sagres is a unique destination in so many ways. Located on a peninsula at the south west tip of Portugal, it is surrounded by the sea and cliffs on three sides and full of the history of the Portuguese period of discovery. There are at least 4 beaches within walking and biking distance. Martinhal and Mareta are soft sand beaches usually more calm and perfect for swimming, wind surfing, sunbathing, and kids. Tonel and Beliche, on the west coast are spectacularly beautiful with high cliffs and heavier waves and great for sunbathing, kiting, and hanging out. Be careful of the undertow and only safe for good swimmers. Sagres has a long history of commercial fishing. There are many beach side and village restaurants, serving grilled fresh fish and traditional Portuguese fish and seafood dishes along with superb collections of some of the best and most affordable wines you can find. Sagres has a growing mix of young travellers, surfers from all over the world, families on holiday, carvaners, nature lovers and retired folks who never grow old.
